Learning about the change of European & American societies it begs the question if Australia should hold a referendum before the next federal Election to once & for all stipulate what kind of Nation Australia is desired to be & take steps now to achieve this !
There are a couple of serious contenders at play now to gradually end its course from a Christianity-based so-so Democracy-based society to a literal Dictatorship-Autocracy ! One group is openly flaunting their obvious support for this whilst the other is quietly & rather effectively working behind the scene by subtle (rumoured foreign State sponsored) infiltration of Public service & business & IT. Either way, neither group will yield to the other when the numbers are large enough & due to the blasé mentality of many, Australians will find themselves being the meat in the sandwich.
Sticking the head in the sand & expecting pleasant surprises has never provided positive outcomes !

There should have been a referendum years ago. Had we as voters reminded the political class that they are supposed to be serving us, not us serving them, Australia would not be the elected dictatorship it is today. You don't get or retain democracy just by voting for the same sorts of people every three years. You have to keep at them all the time. It beggars belief that the ALP aka the Australian Liars Party is still in power. Well, OK, it's amazing that the voters gave them the power again after the slow but sure decline in their first term.

But, indyvidual, which party you think could be a contender for government is the Christian based one. The only Christian-based party I know of is Family First, and they got less than 2% of the vote in the last election.

The only party that claims to be interested in the demographic, with already almost one third of it born overseas, and mass immigration still climbing despite the lying, is non-religious One Nation.

While the polls have One Nation ahead of the rest, there's still 2 years of Socialist horror to get through. And, the ON member for Farrer has gone off the tracks with his two-flags-in-my-office nonsense; he has been connected to other parties, and reportedly attempted to get Labor pre-selection in the past. Dear old Barnaby came up with the idea of whipping non-citizens houses from them, then said it was not going to happen, and there is a history of people getting into upper house seats, state and federal, on the ON ticket then deciding to go independent.

I don't think there is much hope for this benighted country. It's shot to s..t.

Indyvidual,

Not much happening mate.

The main problem with pretty much everything wrong with Australia is the Albanese Socialist government. It has to go.

The only way it will go is if the Right side of politics gets together. So far, they don't seem keen on that. The Liberals are still treating One Nation like a leper - as if they think they will get back on their own.

The Nationals seem to be ahead of the Liberals on the need to rid Australia of crushing Socialism. They, the Liberals and One Nation should be cooperating to oust the Albanese regime.

I noticed today the Nationals saying that Albanese should have the guts to take his most unpopular ever budget to an election now, after all of his lies about what he wouldn't do before the horrors of it were revealed.

As if! He'll hang on for the next two years like s..t to a rug.

Hi Indy,

"(referendum) stipulate what kind of Nation Australia is desired to be & take steps now to achieve this !" You want something new inserted into the Australian Constitution, is that what YOU want? Then what is the question that YOU think Australians should be asked?

The rantings of ttbn about "Socialist horror" is not what the vast majority of Australians think. These far right nut jobs want Australia to become a one party totalitarian state, dominated by the politics of hate and divisions, with total state control.

On the very first issues raised with a One Nation leader, Barnaby Joyce, that being the issue of home ownership, he displayed the parties true colours, the politics of hate, demanding the forced sale of the homes of all non-citizens, even those who have lived here for all of their lives as permanent residents. To me it demonstrates a kinship with Nazi fascism, where Jews were force by the state to sell their property to "Aryan" Germans. Is this what we want for Australia?

Appalling Paul,

You recently advised that I take against anyone with an opinion other than mine; now I'm a ranter because you don't like my opinions.

You are not the slightest bit interested in what indyvidual has to say: you just want to have a go at a “right nut job”.

You probably think that ‘projecting’ means showing your holiday slides on a sheet or screen.

But, projecting also means “the cognitive act of imposing one’s own thoughts, emotions, or values onto external objects, behaviors, or other people”.

And that's what you do, sunshine, with your own desire to see a “one party totalitarian state, dominated by the politics of hate and divisions, with total state control”.

That describes your Socialism to a tee. You are talking about yourself and your Green Labor/Communist mates.

You (no need for upper case) don't have a clue what “the vast majority of Australians think”; particularly after the extreme Socialist budget, brought down by the lying Socialists. Neither do I. But I'm smart enough to know that I don't.

You lack the education (you project that, too) and understanding necessary to be taken seriously. Barnaby Joyce's faux pas had nothing to do with “the politics of hate”. It was just his own, not unusual for him, bombast.

Joyce is like you: he thinks being bombastic impresses people. You could be seen as the Barnaby Joyce of the Greens.

Your remark about Jews being forced to sell their homes overlooks the fact that the vast majority of Jews were German citizens; Australia's permanent residents are not Australian citizens, and a significant proportion of Australians do object to them owning property in a country they take advantage of while spurning citizenship of it. ON doesn't hold that view; I don't know if the Coalition does, and the Albanese Socialist government protects them. So they have nothing to worry about. I don't think anyone actually uses the “politics of hate” against” them, but ‘hate’ is just one more thing you project onto others.

Hi Indy,
I support your idea but I think not a referendum (one question) but a national survey. (Multiple questions)
If we can do a census every few years with multiple questions I'm sure we can do this;
But it should've been done decades back, we may get some results we don't like...
It could be that you have to be in the country for a decade to take part?
You could still have the newcomers opinions as well I guess.

The Coalition rightly believes that permanent residents should be “encouraged” to become citizens. The ‘encouragement’ should take the form of sign up or leave.

Some countries, e.g China and India, do not ‘permit’ dual citizenship. So what! Sign up or go back to China or India if you want to stay in Australia permanently.

Albanese came up with the ridiculous, “Permanent residents are people who have made a commitment to Australia to be permanent residents”!!

How about committing to Australia? Permanent residents do not make any oaths or undertakings to Australia. All they have to do to get a permanent visa is sign an Australian Values Statement.

Albanese then goes into the arse wiping, nursing, cleaning usefulness routine of permanent residents. No mention of tax collection, the main reason.

These permanent residents only wait 4 years to access most social benefits, and “up to” 10 years for a disability pension. All they can't do is vote or get an Australian passport.

NB The Coalition wouldn't take away any benefits from existing residents. Weak.

Hi AC,

What you say sounds fine in theory, surveys with lots of questions and answers, with opinions on all sorts of matters canvased. The problem is, these things can never be totally quantified, one idea opposed by another. Nor can they be made compulsory, then sectional interests and pressure groups are organised to skew results in their favour. On the logistical side, who actually measures the results and in what form is it presented, and to whom. When and how is action taken on these results.

The hypocrisy of One Nation and its supporters. They make a song and dance about the 1% of residential property which is foreign owned in Australia, yet not a peep out that mob about the 13% of Australian agricultural land (about 50 million hectares, much of it US and British) foreign owned. The politics of hate that these people engage in is evident, why are they talking about the small amount of residential property foreign owned, and not the 13% of agricultural land, power through hate and division that's why!

Cracks are appearing on the far right, with Clive Palmer being super critical of Barnaby Joyce and what he said about foreign investment in Australia.

Hi Paul,
I understand and accept your valid arguments, but I'm not sure that necessarily means we shouldn't try.
It's just means we need to find a way to foolproof it before we actually do it.
(something the government never does and often resulting in debacles)
Recognising the issues you suggested shows what we have to guard against in the planning if or when we do.

"The politics of hate that these people engage in is evident, why are they talking about the small amount of residential property foreign owned, and not the 13% of agricultural land, power through hate and division that's why!"

I'm not certain that what you see as an 'attack' by the far right, is at it's core essentially a 'defence' by the far right, and it's probably important to make this distinction...

They're defending what they see as the good parts of this country the way it used to be and what was lost and where it's headed, and it's not hard to be critical, thinking your kids can't afford homes or that Islam might one day take over, and a thousand other things they see as all adding up to the complete erosion of what was once good and 'ours' in this country.
- And not knowing who or what to point the finger of blame at, become an angry mob.
We've seen it on both sides from time to time.

"Cracks are appearing on the far right, with Clive Palmer being super critical of Barnaby Joyce and what he said about foreign investment in Australia."

Foreign investment can be both a blessing and a curse.
- Their investment ties their national interests to the extraction of wealth from our shores.

Look at Ukraine, they won't stop the war or stop Ukrainians from being fed into the meat grinder, because Western people in high places interests aren't served by the war stopping, and they might lose out on their investments.

Actually, One Nation believes in "an outright ban" on further sales of agricultural land to foreigners.

Currently-owned land should be converted to lease-hold for a maximum of 25 years. Owners who refuse to sell land after that would have that land confiscated.

No foreigners should own Australian water rights.

That's just a quick summary of their policies.

No need for shouting about ‘hypocrisy’ and ‘hate’, or projecting your own hatred of just about everything and everybody onto other people.

When you have nothing to offer than some half baked populist policy like;

"Currently-owned land should be converted to lease-hold for a maximum of 25 years. Owners who refuse to sell land after that would have that land confiscated."

How do you achieve this miracle, without severe backlash from foreign governments, particularly the bit about "confiscated". For the federal government to purchase the 1% of foreign owned residential property at market value would cost between $40 and $60 billion today. the cost of purchasing the 50 million hectares of foreign owned agricultural land would be around $600 billion today. Where does the money come from? Then when the government has this massive amount of houses and land, what do they do with it. Look for local buyers at fire sale prices. Typical airhead politics from One Nation. If that is their un-costed, un-thought-out policy!

Hi mikk,

I found where One Nation got their land policy from, its not socialist, its communist!

"The Bolsheviks confiscated vast amounts of land in Russia. This massive seizure was initiated immediately after they seized power in 1917 and continued through subsequent decades of agrarian policies."

Just to Update:

"One Nation confiscated vast amounts of land in Australia. This massive seizure was initiated immediately after they seized power in 2028 and continued through subsequent decades of agrarian policies."

Comrade ttbn, with policy like that, you'll be a Commissar in no time.

Migration needs to be filtered, it's as simple as that ! Let the racists scream racism even when there isn't any. Merit must remain the Nr one criteria for any migrant. Religious & any ulterior motive orientated people should focus on improving their homelands if it's better economy they're pursuing, Australia can't improve with their presence here.

indyvidual,

Racist is just a word the Socialists bark when they are losing an argument.

More and more non-white people are disagreeing with the tiresome self-hatred of white Left nutjobs and their rubbish about only white people being racist. Some of the non-white realists are in politics (not in Australia of course), some are academics.

One such is Mayuran Senthilnathan, black as ya hat, academic and writer, and one time UK Reform candidate. He told SkyNews that “Anti-white racism is the most pervasive and accepted in the West”. Anyone watching SkyNews would know that this is not a novelty.

The mention of SkyNews automatically has the Lefties screeching all sorts of abuse in their bigoted misconceptions about any carrier apart from government-funded ones like the BBC, and here the ABC. They find it impossible to accept that their pet victims would appear on such a “dreadful” medium and reject their “truth” : white people bad/black people good.

The lack of self-respect among white lefties rubbishing their own people and themselves must bewilder and amaze other races who are, and always have been, very clannish and group minded, unlike Socialist whites.

Hi ttbn,

That is correct, there are black people who are racist, its not something determined simply by the colour of ones skin, but by ones attitude. A hateful bigoted attitudes, irrationally directed towards others because of their ethnicity, religion, social behaviour etc, that should be called out as racism and bigotry, and not condoned.

Hi Indy,

"Migration needs to be filtered" and in Australia it is, and that results in the vast majority of migrants turning out to be excellent Australians.

"Merit must remain the Number one criteria" and it is, skilled migrants are the leading group in Australia's intake. I think you are fixated with stereotyping, seeing ALL migrants as unskilled, uneducated, dressed like some desert dwelling Arabs, stepping off a plane with a tribe of kids in tow. Wrong! 57% of doctors in Australia were born overseas, or are the children of migrants, and that applies in many professions. Wake up, stop being prejudiced, and face the facts!

Don't be misled by far right populist politicians who see hate and division as their pathway to political control in Australia

stop being prejudiced, and face the facts
Paul1405,
That applies more to you than it does to me ! Not answering is a clear indication that you don't actually have an argument to fall back on. Wrong migration rather than migration is what's tearing up modern societies. Early migration to Australia & subsequent introduction to a life style rather than mere existence are facts that are now not only embraced by 99.9% of the original dwellers on this continent but actually demanded as a Right.
Many of the newcomers of recent aren't of the calibre you mentioned & that is where the problems have become a dilemma for the rest of this society. The question for Australians is; Do they want to be ruled like Iran after the Shah or do they want to be ruled like Australia before Whitlam ? It'd be very interesting to hear the opinion of people who are employed for their merit rather than just qualified for something for which there are no customers to spend their earnings on !

Hi Indy,

There is not much chance that Australia will in the foreseeable future, be ruled like Iran, nor is there much chance of Australia before Whitlam. The vast majority would not have clue about before Whitlam, a bloody war where hundreds of young Australians were murdered, not you, as you dodged national service.

Australia by world standards is still the lucky country, for all the political whinging and whining that goes on, Australia is a great place to live. Surly you can testify to that, having migrated from some dung heap to the lucky country.

The problem a lot of old people, like yourself, suffer from is "rose coloured glasses" always hankering for the "good old days". The truth is there were just as many problems for people back in the "good old days" as there is today. You might not think so, as you were able to exit the dung heap and land in Australia, more precisely the Centrelink Office, where you have been a permanent fixture ever since.

I think the left and the right are just making things worse for each other and none of us will get what we want.

Some people will support immigration, and there will be more people, and when it goes bad, the right will become empowered.

Why cant the left just support a sensible policy so the right don't end up saying 'we told you so'

How the Belfast attack played into the hands of Britain's far right
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-11/belfast-attack-played-into-the-hands-of-far-right-britain/106779784

The left and the right need to learn something important.

They are not enemies, they are each others neighbours and between the pair of them they are ruining the whole street and neighbourhood.

Does democracy bring unity or cause division?

From the Internet;

The "Kalergi Plan" is a widely debunked, antisemitic conspiracy theory claiming that a secretive elite is implementing a plot to eliminate white Europeans through mass immigration, miscegenation, and forced integration.
Distortion of History: The theory falsely attributes a secret agenda to Count Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, an Austrian-Japanese philosopher who founded the Pan-European Union in the 1920s and advocated for peaceful, democratic European unity.
Fabricated Intent: Proponents of the theory take selected excerpts from Coudenhove-Kalergi's 1925 book Practical Idealism out of context. While he philosophized about a future blended "Eurasian-Negroid race" to dissolve national and class conflicts, he did not advocate for forced migration or ethnic replacement.
Origin of the Myth: The concept of a sinister "plan" was actually invented decades later, most notably propagated by Austrian neo-Nazi Gerd Honsik in the early 2000s.
Ideological Ties: The theory is a specific, antisemitic strain of the broader "Great Replacement" white genocide conspiracy, which serves to scapegoat minorities and Jewish people for societal changes.

Tens of thousands all up were killed in Vietnam to keep the likes of you safe, for what ?
Whitlam sold Australia's security for votes from people like you. For what exactly ? To back-door this nation now ? To send people to war is not murder however, to sell people out like the Left is doing is treason & akin to murder !

Hannah Thomas: NSW admits to police ‘battery and false imprisonment’ of pro-Palestine protester
http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/jun/10/hannah-thomas-pro-palestine-protester-assaulted-by-police-officers-falsely-imprisoned-ntwnfb

>>The state of New South Wales has admitted that a police officer punched Hannah Thomas in the eye while holding a torch at a pro-Palestine protest – and it has offered to pay her medical costs.<<

How generous of them.

>>The now 36-year-old was taken to hospital after she was punched and underwent three rounds of surgery on her right eye. The statement of claim reveals she weighed 45kg and was 156cm tall at the time of the battery.<<

She was a giant of a woman.

>>"Thomas’s lawyers from O’Brien Criminal and Civil Solicitors wrote that it ruptured her eyeball and fractured her eye socket."<<

>>Thomas’s lawyers claimed she was also entitled to aggravated and exemplary damages, alleging Davis’s conduct was “manifestly excessive” and constituted a “grave departure” from police powers. However, the state denied those claims.<<

>>The defence notes that the protest outside SEC Plating was planned by the group Weapons Out the West and was “apparently concerned with manufacturing companies, such as SEC Plating, providing components for weapons thought to be used by Israel in the conflict taking place in Gaza”. SEC Plating has previously denied this.<<

>>The state admitted to another battery after Thomas claimed Sen Const Pir Ali Noohpoto grabbed her before the punch which led her to shout in pain. The state admitted that Noohpoto “took hold of the plaintiff’s upper body”.

NSW admitted that use of force “constituted a battery”, in its statement of defence.

The state admitted the same officer took hold of Thomas’s arms in an effort to remove her from a group of other protesters, who the state has claimed were pulling her back into their fold.<<

Google? 'what's the difference between battery and grievous bodily harm'

AI Overview
The primary difference between battery and grievous bodily harm (GBH) is the severity of the injury and the intent behind the action. Battery is any unlawful, non-consensual force (even minor contact), while GBH refers to incredibly serious, often life-altering, or permanent harm. GBH is considered a much more severe form of assault, potentially leading to life imprisonment.

"Hannah Thomas continues to suffer serious and ongoing health issues after being punched by a NSW police officer in June 2025."

In America this would be a 50 million dollar lawsuit.

There is nothing to debate actually;
