This pair are totally clueless when it comes to immigration, all thought bubbles like "Crash TAFE courses for plumbers and electricians" Yeah, teach one block how to turn off a tap, and another bloke how to switch on a light. Australia faces a severe, growing trade apprenticeship shortage, with estimates suggesting a need for over 100,000 extra workers by 2029, despite the 280,000 skilled migrant and their families who arrived over the past 2 years. The reality is, few young people want to take up trade apprenticeships despite government incentives.

"A special team to examine special cases would be needed." I assume to find the special people, to do the special jobs. Thanks Reg, another committee meeting is in order.

"Yes. Stop all immigration while the current system is thoroughly investigated." By whom and for what may I ask, old farts and the Lovely Pauline, report back in 5 years time. I know you guys are part of the 3 ring circus that is the hard right of politics in Australia, but you both don't have to be clowns!

An important part of any enquiry into immigration should include Islamic child-abuse in Australia. 14 female children were subjected to forced marriage here in 2024-25. (Daily Telegraph). At least they were the ones reported to the Department of Communities child protection unit.

There have been 117 ‘reported’ forced child marriages since 2018.

There are claims of many backyard marriages by imams.

Children are sent overseas and come back with a husband.

One “Brother” Abu Ahmad is calling for sharia law to be “established” in Australia. He feels that Muslims are “dishonoured” by the lack of sharia in Australia

Well Paul, I guess we can forgive you for your ignorance on things
electrical.
Anyone doing electrical work in most states needs to hold an
electricians licence.
They do not hand them out on Weetbix packets, you have to prove
knowledge of the Electrical Installation Rules.
Note in a lot of countries the earth wire is a different colour than it is here.
A simple case but near certainly fatal if a mistake is made.
That is a very simple example but in large elecrical installations there
are rules that are not followed can cause disconnection of supply.
Not familiar with plumbing rules but I know that some relate to community health.
So Paul don't just use your ignorance for political ends.

The Liberals say that they will ban immigrants from 13 countries, including Egypt, Palestine (not really a country) and the Philippines.

Also excluded could be: Afghanistan, Algeria, Cameroon, Lebanon, Lybia, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Somalia and Yemen.

This was mooted before the leadership spill. Angus Taylor claims that he hadn't seen the details. What a mess they were - and still might be.

Taylor wants a larger role for intelligence agencies in the screening of immigrants.

The National Party approves.

Bezza,

A shortage of trades people and it was you who was the one talking about "crash courses". They do not hand them tout on Weetbix packets, so how do you fill the shortage of tradespeople with these crash courses? You probably know as much about immigration as you do about Islam, absolutely nothing!

Oh Dear Paul,
I will try and explain in simple text.
The Crash course would be for already experienced tradespeople.
In the electrical Tafe they would be instructed on the differences in
the systems in their country of origin and all the rules and regulations
that apply here. When completing the course and examined they could
be issued with an electrician licence.
Until they have the licence they can only work under supervision.
By supervision I don't mean someone looking over their shoulder but
they cannot submit a Ready to Test form" until their employer inspects
the work, signs and lodges the Ready for Test form.
Then the supply authority comes and tests the site for compliance.
This applies for new installations such as new houses.
In some countries there are people how say they are electricians but
are not really qualified and have marginal knowledge.
