ABS updated its immigration figures on 12/2/26.

Net permanent arrivals for 2025 : 480,520. Up 7% on the previous highest- on-record in 1923.

The government's “half-hearted” amendments to visa rules have not affected the number of people coming here and intending to stay, according to the IPA's Dr. Kevin You.

The number of migrants in Australia is growing, and “growing fast”.

As Dr. You says, immigration should be planned, “have the consent of the community, and be targeted towards areas of economic need”.

This is obviously not occurring under the Albanese regime, nor the Coalition, which has no immigration policy, and was a big importer of people when in power.

Net migration is now returning to pre-covid levels. The facts supplied by the ABS are during covid March 21 net migration was -94K, immediately post covid net migration surged to 555K September 23, since then net migration has been in decline, down to 305K June 25, which is in line with the 4 years pre-covid average, with net migration at around 250K per year.

Paul,

I rely on professional researchers whom I name. Your response is just an unsubstantiated statement.

I don't generally respond to your idiotic rants, but your misinformation needs to be revealed to anyone who still takes notice.

Mass immigration is not always good for some immigrants either. And being anti-immigration doesn't necessarily mean that immigrants themselves are being blamed. I speak for nobody but myself, and blame, utterly, the Australian political class.

Ever since 60,000 ‘kanakas’ were imported to work in sugar and cotton fields in Queensland, there has been a “vast underclass” of people in Australia following their immigration, largely from non-English speaking countries. (Birrell, Betts and Healy. (The Australian Population Research Institute).

After an influx of 1.2 million people since 2022, about “10 per cent of Australia's population is again in an economically highly disadvantaged position”. (Economist Adam Creighton, Institute of Public Affairs, 13/2/26).

On the other hand, Australians have suffered urban congestion, competition for services and ethnic transformation. (Birrell)

The only party with a immigration policy is One Nation.

80% of Australians want lower immigration, and 50% want it to be ‘much’ lower. No figures for those who want zero immigration, of course.

In his article, Creighton repeats that the ABS, not Paul 1405, has advised that immigration has increased to 480,520, the HIGHEST SUCH calendar figure ON RECORD.

After the gobbledygook about “net overseas immigration” and the “mere” 305,000 arrivals to September last year, comes the fact that the immigration level is 3 times that of the 1990s.

No wonder the left is baulking at the term “mass immigration”. How long before they try to ban it!

If the political plonkers don't start listening, things are going to get pretty ugly.

Finally, from Bob Birrell and the APRI, of all immigrants who came to live in Australia between 1951 and 2021, only HALF of them obtained citizenship; and since then the share of those obtaining citizenship has “contracted sharply”.

ttbn,

ABS stands for Australian Bureau of Statistics. that is where my data comes from, yours on the other hand comes from a Dr You employed by the Institute of Public Affairs.

The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a Melbourne-based, right-wing, and conservative think tank, widely recognized for advocating free-market policies and often opposing climate science, environmental regulation, and left-leaning political movements, frequently supporting the Liberal Party.

And you call the Australian Bureau of Statistics data, "unsubstantiated"! Where do you think your Dr You got his information from. Now whose the Wally here.

Net permanent arrivals for the year to June 2025 568,370, but what you fail to mention is the 262,800 (June 2025) migrants who departed, plus the natural increase from births over deaths, of 114,600 giving an overall population increase of 420,600 or 1.5%.

The only ranter on this forum is YOU, with your hatred and racism. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, Australia has a large population of parasitic old farts, but they are falling off the perch rapidly, or they are in taxpayer funded homes!
