Another thought has come to me, the fault could be in the system that
000 is connected to and it rejected the diverted calls.
I am sure those at the sharp end have already looked at that.
Now a condition could arise that an uncharged call from another network
which are normally rejected saw the 000 call as a normal call and so
rejected it. That situation could be a software fault.
If it turns out to be that would the pollies etc turn pink faced ?

Thanks ttbn- Kudos.

Regarding 000, often as someone said "the real cause is deeper than the issue itself", perhaps political. And I question the rationality of having critical national services run by Optus/ Singtel out of Singapore or anyone else. But I agree with others who say that sometimes we need to "carry on in Stoic British style". I remember in the past services could be down for days without the sort of fuss that we see today. The fog of war....

Also, though I think there is a place for private enterprise over public enterprise, I remember British Telecom doubling prices after going public, not sure about Telstra's privatisation. Either way I can see both as encapsulating ideologies that are potentially poisonous...

Did you see the report from Telstra that some phones cannot access
000 from certain networks !
