With a predominant make up of white males, once again the NT police has been shown to be both, on a personal level racists, and on a organisational level racists. NT Coroner Elisabeth Armitage has delivered her 683 page findings into the fatal shooting by Constable Zachary Rolfe of 19-year-old Warlpiri-Luritja man Kumanjayi Walker during an arrest in Yuendumu in 2019, Rolfe was cleared of murder charges in 2022, that verdict would be questionable today, given Armitage's adverse finding against Rolfe.

What the coroners report found was, Rolfe was a ardent racists, with a violent history against Aboriginal people, and he was unfit to perform the roll of a NT Police Officer. Judge Armitage found Kumanjayi Walker's death was "avoidable" and the failed arrest of the 19-year-old was "a case of officer-induced jeopardy (an officer needlessly putting himself in danger)".

Coroner Elisabeth Armitage said the evidence she gathered over almost three years showed that Zachary Rolfe was not an isolated "bad apple", but instead "the beneficiary of an organisation with hallmarks of institutional racism". The coroner has made 32 recommendations that should be acted upon by the NT Government in the near future. We shall wait and see the outcome.

Hey Bonger,

Maybe you need a new iPhone to take your mind of lesser things.

I don’t think it’s necessarily racist picking on the perpetrators of of the majority of the crime in any state: but you’d expect me to say that I’m sure. Predictable.

Nuremburg Dan,

For people with your extreme disposition there is only one solution to crime, and that's punishment, and our good police force is there to protect you from the nasty criminals. On the surface that is appealing to many in society, and wins politicians of your persuasion lots of votes. Maybe there are some deeper root causes to much of the petty crime committed in the community. Do you have any other ideas?

Interesting one for you; The other day I came out of the supermarket and a black kid (Tony, about 15) hanging around with a couple of his mates says to me; "Ah mister!, gim me some money, or I'll bash ya!".." I replied; "Shut up Tony, and have a nice day, why ya hanging around here?" Tony; "Nutn' to do!", well that told me something as I went on my way.

Well done Paul. An entire post on this and never once mentioned scissors.

Just for clarity, Kumanjayi Walker (whose real name was Charles Arnold Walker - but these people like to play pretend these days) attacked and stabbed Zachary Rolfe with a pair of scissors after which he was shot and killed. But the pro-indigenous crowd seem to want to forget all about the stabbing. I can't imagine why!!

"The coroner has made 32 recommendations..."

Strangely not one of those recommendations was to tell aboriginals to NOT stab police officers. We all know why.

Trumpster,

"The coroner made 33 (up by 1) recommendations, more than half of which were aimed at improving police recruitment, training, culture and relationships with the Aboriginal community – including engaging with leaders in Yuendumu about when it was appropriate to carry guns in the community.

Your question about the stabbing of Rolfe by Walker. The Coroner found that Rolfe purposely placed himself in a situation of officer-induced jeopardy. In other words the racist Rolfe was itching for a fight with black fella Walker, no doubt wanting a situation where he would be justified in using violence to get that much needed adrenalin rush! Rolfe got his way, as Walker tried to defend himself from the violence of Rolfe!

Oh....so the victim of the stabbing encouraged it by being there. Got it.

A bit like the rape victim caused it by wearing a short dress.

But in some weird lands, its never the aboriginal's fault, no matter how violent they are.

No stabbing.... no shooting. But that seems to go over many heads.
