Well 20 million anyway. And it took them two generations to recover demographically from that. But Russia this time was already in demographic decline BEFORE Putin started slaughtering his own people on a vainglorious enterprise. One of the first things Putin tried to do on gaining power was to try to reverse the declining population. He ws failing. The UN agencies have predicted that the Russian population would be halved by 2100. And that was BEFORE they started killing their youth.

A nation trying to reverse demographic decline needs the 20-35 yr old generation to create the next generation, hopefully larger but at least not smaller, than their own. They were already failing that and now with so many rotting in the trenches of the DonBass, the chances of reversing the decline are gone.
