Venezuela's economic woes started long before the US started sanctioning the leadership.
Maduro, and before him Chavez, are communists. Destroying economies is their special talent. The US aren't sanctioning the people. They are sanctioning the leadership who are stealing from the people. stealing their wealth, stealing their future, stealing food aid and, more often than is comfortable, stealing their lives. But heh, AC, we're used to you leaping to the defence of totalitarians, communists and mass murderers. Posted by mhaze, Monday, 3 March 2025 1:44:35 PM

"The US aren't sanctioning the people."
No, they are starving them while their USAID money pays people to stir up shite and blame Maduro for it, so they can install their 'boy'. Don't you know how the movie goes? "They are sanctioning the leadership who are stealing from the people. stealing their wealth, stealing food aid and, more often than is comfortable, stealing their lives." - Venezuela has that much oil everyone in the country should be a millionaire. I'm not sure if you're a complete idiot, or you just think I am. You should know by now I'm not that dumb. "But heh, AC, we're used to you leaping to the defence of totalitarians, communists and mass murderers." You support Trump unequivocally, he starved the Venezuelan people in his first term, they're eating cats and dogs and Netanyahu starved the Palestinians... You're like a squealing cheerleader for them, and yet you're actually stupid enough to state this 'stealing their wealth, stealing food aid and, more often than is comfortable, stealing their lives'; in the same comment and claim you're some caring humanitarian. Are you freaking kidding me? Israel cuts off aid to Gaza, pressures Hamas to accept new ceasefire plan http://www.smh.com.au/world/middle-east/israel-backs-us-proposal-to-extend-gaza-ceasefire-s-first-phase-hamas-wants-to-move-on-to-phase-two-20250302-p5lg7o.html - 'Accept the deal or we'll starve the lot of you. 'Israel stopped the entry of all goods and supplies into the Gaza Strip on Sunday and warned of “additional consequences” if Hamas does not accept a new proposal for an extension of the first phase of a fragile ceasefire.' I told you weeks back Netanyahu would break the ceasefire himself and that he did a secret deal with his right-wing cohorts that the ceasefire deal would never reach Stage 2, seems like I'm correct again. "An Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity in line with regulations, said the decision to suspend aid was made in co-ordination with the Trump administration." So Trump supports the starvation policy? Ukraine- the EU and Brits are losing their collective minds. Like I said yesterday, they want to fight to the end. I've also told you neocons have no reverse gear. Posted by Armchair Critic, Monday, 3 March 2025 7:29:18 PM

Dear mhaze, . I wrote : “With Trump choosing to change sides and support Putin’s Russia, …” And you commented : « No. Trump has always been on America's side. » . Good point, mhaze. I reformulate my observation as follows : « With Trump considering that it is in America’s best interests, he has switched his government’s support from Ukraine to Putin’s Russia. » A CBS poll conducted 26-28 February 2025 (the televised bullying sequence took place on 28 February) found as follows : • 4% of the respondents said they “personally support” Russia when it comes to the war. 52% said they personally support Ukraine, while 44% said “neither.” • Regarding American “military aid to Ukraine,” 51% of respondents in the CBS News/YouGov poll backed it, while 49% said they didn’t. A few hours prior to the televised bullying sequence, Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of Defense, announced that the United States was stopping all cyber offensives against Russia. The decision was part of a broader reassessment of all hostile operations against Moscow. Zelensky posted the following comment on X two days after the televised bullying sequence : « We are ready to sign the minerals agreement, and it will be the first step toward security guarantees. But it’s not enough, and we need more than just that. A ceasefire without security guarantees is dangerous for Ukraine. We’ve been fighting for 3 years, and Ukrainian people need to know that America is on our side. » . (Continued …) . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Tuesday, 4 March 2025 3:48:59 AM

(Continued …) . In my view, Trump’s tactics of submitting Zelensky to the televised bullying session, aided and abetted by Vice President JD Vance, was that he wanted to force Zelensky to accept to stop the war with Russia immediately because he promised the Americans he would do so as soon as he was elected President. However, Trump appears to think he can't stop Putin and is bent on stopping Zelensky. To achieve this, either Ukraine has to capitulate or Zelensky has to resign and be replaced by somebody who has Putin's approval. Zelensky had previously declared that he would agree to resign on condition that Ukraine becomes a member of NATO. That has not changed, and he continues to have the backing of all the major European countries and several others around the world. Germany’s foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock, seems to express the reaction of most when she declares : « The unspeakable row resembled a bad dream and underlined that a new age of infamy has begun », adding that she would « wholeheartedly push for measures that could help Ukraine withstand Russia's aggression even if the US withdraws support, so that it can achieve a just peace and not a capitulation ». Talking about his role in negotiations to end Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Trump said he was "in the middle." "I'm for both Ukraine and Russia... I want to get it solved," he added. That remains to be seen. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Tuesday, 4 March 2025 4:11:13 AM

Hi Banjo Patterson.
Firstly I think polls only reflect what the people are 'lead to believe' are the facts. In my opinion there been so many outright lies, disinfo and misinfo, (much of it paid for), that barely anyone is able to see the bigger picture. I've shown you that USAID was funding media to wage a propaganda war, if they weren't why would they bother spending the money? They spent the money to spread lies and instill fear and sell a war. If all the lies, disinfo and misinfo were laid bare, the people might have a completely different opinion on things. 'United States was stopping all cyber offensives against Russia' - Yet all we ever heard was about cyber offensives 'by Russia'. Zelensky: "We are ready to sign the minerals agreement, and it will be the first step toward security guarantees" Security guarantees are not part of any peace plan, they are a part of a Ukrainian victory plan, the whole thing is a ruse, which hinges on 1 whether Russia is likely to fall into this trap and accept a ceasefire (they're not) and 2. Whether America is dumb enough to be maneuvered into a position where they have to fight WW3 against Russia on behalf of the Brits and Europeans (they're not). With this in mind I think the Brits and Europeans are living in a complete fantasy land. 'Trump promised Americans he would stop the war when elected' Why should he suddenly not keep his promises to his constituents. All these warmongers scream Trump is a threat to democracy, but is he not trying to uphold it. It's Europe that wants to continue the war, and hey want Americans to fight it for them. Why would Trump want to do that? Posted by Armchair Critic, Tuesday, 4 March 2025 9:02:52 AM

If like in Myanmar a military junta stands in their way, then it's all about promoting democracy.'

According to data from the U.S. Department of State and USAID, more than $3.7 billion of U.S. aid has flowed to Afghanistan since the Taliban seized power in 2021, primarily channeled through U.N. agencies to deliver humanitarian assistance.

They are tools too, as their kids are left with the national debt.
When will you all get it?
