Australia is experiencing a cost-of-living crisis. An energy crisis. A housing crisis. A social crisis. A generational divide. A religious conflict. An education collapse. And a birthrate disaster. A threat from China. An immigration and cultural crisis. Not to mention incompetent, self-serving politicians.

That is of more concern to me than some tinpot European country with which we have absolutely nothing in common.

Mexico has just sent 29 cartel figures it held or had access to, to the US. Among the 29 were people on the FBI's 10 most wanted list.

The US has been trying to get these people into the US to face various charges ranging from drug trafficking to murder to the execution of law officials since the Obama years.

Without success.

But the threat of sanctions and the need to placate the Trump regime has changed everything and the thinking in governments around the world.

We used to have problems. Now everything's a crisis. The issues haven't changed. What has changed is the need to compete for government funding by exaggerating the problem du jour.

Hollande, Merkel, Poroshenko, what did they reveal?
That they never intended to honour the deal and were just biding time in order to build up the military.
Russia was right to invade, to protect ethnic Russians.
The West were trying to provoke a war, and they got what they asked for.

Trump can't not know what the Russian terms are for ending the war.
He's already pretty much stated he will accept Russian terms on the disputed territories, plus no NATO etc.

It's game over for Zelensky, Ukraine, and also the Brits and the Europeans, Trump will just threaten to leave Europe entirely.

I imagine Boris and Ursula and all the rest of them will be shellshocked like those on the front line.
If they couldn't win with the help of the US, they certainly can't do so without it.
If they don't fall into line with Trumps plans he'll place tariffs on all of them.

I was saddened by the fate of the Palestinian people. They deserve a far better life. They deserve the chance to achieve their extraordinary potential.
