Yuyutsu,

I don't regard the news from the United States as
"entertainment."

What happens next?

The rapid decline of the US Republic accelerates.

PS...on a more hopeful note, the website to make donations to the Trump election campaign crashed because too many people were trying to donate.

We have the former US President telling the news cameras:
It was "all done by Biden."

That Trump has "every single legal scholar" backing him up.

That even a saint wouldn't escape a conviction in his hush
money pay out trial.

"Mother Teresa could not beat these charges."

"These charges are rigged. The whole thing is rigged."

It didn't take long for a panel of 12 New Yorkers to deliver
a guilty version.

There will undoubtedly be more last gasp efforts ahead from the
former US President. More dealing with "election interference,"
more "weaponization, " should he lose the election.

Interesting times ahead? - definitely. Entertaining? No.
Scary to say the least!

We're told by the BBC that Donald Trump is the first former
US President to be found guilty of a crime. That he's the first
presumptive main-party nominee to become a convicted felon as
well.

The BBC tell us that as he plans his appeal and awaits sentence
on 11th July, which could in theory include prison-time. It's not
too early to consider the political fallout. The following
link has more:

“This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict will be on November 5th [the election] by the people. They know what happened here. Everybody knows what happened here … I didn’t do a thing wrong. I am a very innocent man. And it’s okay. I’m fighting for our country. I’m fighting for our Constitution. The whole country is being rigged right now. This is being done by the Biden Administration in order to hurt or wound a political opponent. We will fight to the end and we’ll win.” (Donal Trump)

“ Today we announce the death of the US legal system. The death of Justice. The death of Democracy. And the death of America”. (Anon)

Paying the hush money was not, in itself, illegal. The prosecution successfully argued that it was designed to influence the outcome of the election – a violation of election laws and, argued the prosecutors, the underlying crime.

There will be an appeal.

The Democrats have made Donald Trump a martyr, and it will not stop him from continuing to campaign.

The Democrats “are a symbol of all that is corrupt, dodgy, underhanded, and sinister” in US politics now. They have made a mockery of the criminal justice system.

As Rowan Dean tweeted, “Day of shame for America - Donald Trump found “guilty” of a non-existent crime. This will be thrown out on appeal unless the entire system is rotten to the core. In which case God save America”.

Let's hope the verdict is thrown out for the sake of the U.S, Australia, and the Western world.
