A Manhattan Jury has found former US President Donald Trump
guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying business records on
the hush money case. What will his punishment be?

His sentence is due to be announced on 11th July 2024.

Will the former US President be sent to prison for a
non-violent paper crime?

He is the first former US President to be charged with crimes.

Your thoughts please.

My kommiserations to the majority of OLOers

who have stuck by Trump, their hero, a man, a Prophet, always humble, always misunderstood, a simple billionaire in the street.

Of Trump's Putin-Xi like Cult of Personality: This is a successful Russian effort to create an idealized and heroic image of Trump as a glorious leader, often through unquestioning flattery and lazy idolatry. With Putin, Trump's puppet master, worming the US at its core.

Yes, that was my point: what matters is what happens here, not in America!

Hi Yuyutsu,

Can't agree; "Yes, that was my point: what matters is what happens here, not in America!

What happened 28th June 1914 in Sarajevo, Bosnia resulted in 60,000 Australians being killed. What happened on Wall St October 29th 1929 resulted in Australians starving to death in Hobart Tasmania. What happened in Hawaii December 7th 1941 resulted in Australians dying in Darwin Northern Territory.

The inescapable fact is we live in a interconnected world of cause and effect. Events in far off places that 99.99% of mankind has no control over, have dire consequences for their very existence.

.The judge in the case is a Biden donor. He should have recused himself. He oozed bias.
.The judge's daughter is a fund-raiser for Biden.
.The jury pool for Manhattan is 85% Democrat.
.The trial was purely political.
.Hush money payments are not illegal. Bill Clinton made such payments with impunity.
.Three public servants in Biden's Department of Justice had themselves seconded to the prosecution team.
.The judge aimed for maximum publicity by setting the sentencing date for a time when the Republican Convention will be on. Trump will have to be present in court.

In the meantime, Trump's website has crashed because of the number of people wanting to donate to his campaign.

To show leniency for the Dangerous Doctor Donald, me thinks Crucifixion is in order for the first offence, but as we are a human lot we'll let him off with a caution for the other 33 offences. Does that not sound fair.

Dear Paul,

«What happened 28th June 1914 in Sarajevo, Bosnia resulted in 60,000 Australians being killed.»

According to chaos theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect), even a butterfly flapping its wings in a distant land could cause a devastating tornado elsewhere in the world.

My take is, that despite the apparent chaos, we live in an orderly cosmos under God's laws and supervision, which include that no calamity can approach us unless we have previously done ourselves something to deserve it.

It is therefore a waste of time to discuss what others will be doing, which we have no control of, where we could instead concentrate on what we do ourselves at present, because that is what will determine our future.

We have the former US President telling the news cameras:
It was "all done by Biden."

That Trump has "every single legal scholar" backing him up.

That even a saint wouldn't escape a conviction in his hush
money pay out trial.

"Mother Teresa could not beat these charges."

"These charges are rigged. The whole thing is rigged."

It didn't take long for a panel of 12 New Yorkers to deliver
a guilty version.

There will undoubtedly be more last gasp efforts ahead from the
former US President. More dealing with "election interference,"
more "weaponization, " should he lose the election.

Interesting times ahead? - definitely. Entertaining? No.
Scary to say the least!

We're told by the BBC that Donald Trump is the first former
US President to be found guilty of a crime. That he's the first
presumptive main-party nominee to become a convicted felon as
well.

The BBC tell us that as he plans his appeal and awaits sentence
on 11th July, which could in theory include prison-time. It's not
too early to consider the political fallout. The following
link has more:

“This was a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict will be on November 5th [the election] by the people. They know what happened here. Everybody knows what happened here … I didn’t do a thing wrong. I am a very innocent man. And it’s okay. I’m fighting for our country. I’m fighting for our Constitution. The whole country is being rigged right now. This is being done by the Biden Administration in order to hurt or wound a political opponent. We will fight to the end and we’ll win.” (Donal Trump)

“ Today we announce the death of the US legal system. The death of Justice. The death of Democracy. And the death of America”. (Anon)

Paying the hush money was not, in itself, illegal. The prosecution successfully argued that it was designed to influence the outcome of the election – a violation of election laws and, argued the prosecutors, the underlying crime.

There will be an appeal.

The Democrats have made Donald Trump a martyr, and it will not stop him from continuing to campaign.

The Democrats “are a symbol of all that is corrupt, dodgy, underhanded, and sinister” in US politics now. They have made a mockery of the criminal justice system.

As Rowan Dean tweeted, “Day of shame for America - Donald Trump found “guilty” of a non-existent crime. This will be thrown out on appeal unless the entire system is rotten to the core. In which case God save America”.

Let's hope the verdict is thrown out for the sake of the U.S, Australia, and the Western world.

Trumps not going to make America great again.
He'll be lucky if he even wins.

The Democrats have engaged in some really dirty stuff.
Usually the political class refrains from putting their political opponents in jail, because they don't want to face the same thing when they lose office.
Now they will have to rig the election to save their own hides because Democrats can probably expect the same treatment if Republicans gain office.

Overall America is haddit anyway.
It's a crumblimg empire eating itself.
They're quite willing to sacrifice even their own allies to try and save themselves.
- But it's not going to make any difference either way.

When Putin's regime used a series of trumped up charges to arrest. convict and gaol Alexei Navalny, anyone with two brain cells to rub together who wasn't a Putin apologist, knew that this was just a authoritarian regime ridding itself of an effective and dangerous critic. No one who understands such things was surprised when Navalny was finally killed.

Anyone who understands the case against Trump knows that this is just an authoritarian regime seeking to remove its major and most effective critic, being one who threatened their power and wealth. Additionally, they were/are all terrified that if Trump returned to power all their crimes, which are currently being (barely) papered over, would be up for prosecution. Biden and his family, the Clintons, the Obamas, Merrick Garland, Nancy Pelosi and a host of others are in real legal jeopardy if the Republicans ever get control of the legal system.
For example, Hilary was already found guilty of the exact same 'crime' that Trump was sorta/kinda charged with and slapped with a fine. Nothing will stop that being re-examined by a Republican prosecutor in light of this idiocy. And there's ample evidence to gaol Hunter Biden and probably Joe. Merrick Garland has already been accused of lying to Congress. And so on....

Already we see one Republican Congressman saying "Time for Red State (ie Republican) AGs and DAs to get busy."

The American Republic unravelling at the hands of a corrupt and incompetent cabal.

The murder of Tiberius Gracchus, to most historians, marked the beginning of the fall of the Roman Republic. It took a century between that murder and the final end of the Republic with the rise of Octavius Augustus.

Tiberius was murdered because he threatened the power and wealth of the elites. They murdered his brother 10 years later. But then the supporters of the Gracchi gained power and reeked their revenge on their opponents. Then there was a swing back and those who revenged upon got their own revenge. From Marius to Sulla to Crassus and the first triumvirate. Pompey, Caesar, the second triumvirs and finally Octavius. Massacre after massacre. Wealth striped from one group then from their opponents. Families wiped out or sent into exile. Romans were relieved when the mayhem came to an end after who knows how many deaths.

All the while, the legal system was debased and used to convict people of unproven crimes and impose unheard-of sentences. People weren't simply executed. The debasement of the legal system provided a veneer of legitimacy to the whole process. And once one debasement of the system was used by one side, it was joyfully used by the other. A downward spiral that never really stopped.

Rome survived, even prospered, but democracy and freedom didn't.

The US might survive what's coming, but freedom and democracy won't.

A dark day in world history. Given what's going on in the US and Britain, Australia might end up being the final frontier of western civilisation... if it can somehow survive its own corrupt and incompetent leadership

Yes its true, but Trump will be maneuvered by Lindsay Graham and other neocons to continue the Western foreign policy that will end up in war anyway, should he succeed in getting back into the Whitehouse.
Trumps already surrounding himself with morons and purported to be saying stupid things.

The nationalist protection policies will probably do more harm than good if Trump continues Biden's tariff policies against China.

Russia and China have a very carefully planned long term geo-economic policy.
The West cannot compete, they've been outmatched, and the world's majority supports these changes, because they benefit instead of being exploited, which is all the West ever did.

China and Russia are actually helping these countries where the West never did.
China offers economic support and infrastructure projects such as ports, hospitals, high speed rail, government buildings, Russia can help with security against warlords and terrorists.

Russia is even building a nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso.

The charges weren't trumped up, they were legit and he was guilty;
- but it was politically motivated to go after him, arrest, charge and imprison him.
He was an agent working for the CIA to destabilise Russia.

Putin didn't kill him, no need to, he was rotting away just fine in his frozen Gulag.
He was not an effective and dangerous critic.
He was discredited as an agent of the West and a traitor to Russia with no possibility of any further political future.

The Wests attempts to create dissent, destabilise the country and oust Putin failed.
Navalny was a broken man who was going to spend his life in prison.

His death benefitted the West, was an attempt to try and foster dissent prior to the Russian presidential election and introduced his wife Yulia as the face of the movement going forward.

"Putin killed my husband."

Its based on Capitalist greed, both Biden and Trump are manifestations of Capitalists greed. You are fooled into believing the great lie. I've kind of reached the point where I'm not entirely sure it makes any difference who wins the U.S. election, and I'm not really sure I care that much which side does.

The problems have become so big neither side can fix them.
Just the existence of two opposing sides always in conflict at the expense of the citizens themselves may in fact be at least a large part of the problem.

In 2016 I'd already reached the point where I thought Democracts were unelectable criminals, which is why I supported Trump, because I hoped America could get back to the country it once was, but maybe I was foolish and naive...

But I don't really have any faith in Republicans to do any better.

I don't really give America the clout I did in 2016.
What happens there is less important now than it ever was.
I think more in terms of what's good for the world, rather than what's good for America.

Some of you old timers need to pay attention to some of the things I'm saying, instead of sticking to the 'tried and failed' you might actually pay attention to whats going on in the world, and the direction the winds blowing.

America is not going to regain it's former glory as an industrialised nation.
To do that, they would have to re-industrialise, and it would cost trillions, meanwhile capitalism goes where the profits are, and the West can't compete with the scale and cost efficiencies of China's production.

According to AC: "Trump will be maneuvered by Lindsay Graham and other neocons to continue the Western foreign policy that will end up in war anyway, should he succeed in getting back into the Whitehouse."

Well we do actually have a way of testing that. Unlike other candidates, we have evidence of Trump as president. Did Graham et al cause Trump to continue policies that will end up in war when he was first in power? Well anyone with even a modicum of historic memory will know the answer to that. The answer is no. Trump rather than following policies to start wars, did the exact opposite. Trump was the first president in memory to NOT start a war but rather ended others, downgraded more and was well on the way to ending others. Indeed one of the main complainants against Trump was that he DIDN'T follow previous US policy norms. But still the bozo bridage want to believe the memes of Trump as a warmonger and mere evidence and fact is the least of their concerns.

According to AC concerning Navalny: "The charges weren't trumped up, they were legit and he was guilty;"

I'd previous written "anyone with two brain cells to rub together who wasn't a Putin apologist," knew that the charges were trumped up to silence a potent critic. AC qualifies on both points.

I'm guessing in AC-land Bukharin was also guilty and legitimately executed....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjtr6bm4ZOg

Clueless Paul thinks the US is based on capitalism rather than freedom and democracy. (well its generally a misnomer to use the term Paul thinks" in a sentence).

The US economy is based on capitalism. But the US polity is (or used to be) based on freedom and democracy. To be clear, it was imperfectly based on freedom and democracy. Its freedom was never pure and its democracy even less so. But in terms of the real world (a place alien to the Pauls of the world) it was the most free and its democracy the most democratic.

This is being lost, but for a time it was a glorious thing and history will look back in envy at 20th century US in the same way as it looks back in envy at Periclean Athens.

Incidentally, just to nudge Paul's education along a tad, freedom is impossible without capitalism. Private property and freedom go hand in hand - you can't have one without the other.

So the US was a free, democratic, capitalist nation, now being destroyed to protect the power and wealth of an avaricious elite.

AC buys this gumph! The US doesn't need to re-industrialise to the level it was post-WW2. The world has moved on, even though the AC's of the old world haven't noticed. Production of 'stuff' isn't the measure of a nation or an economy any longer.

Sure, the US needs to bring some critical industry back home - micro-chips, pharmaceuticals etc. But not much else.

One of the great achievements of the Trump regime, which the clueless cluelessly miss, was the USMCA which replace NAFTA. The US won't re-industrialise back to where it was....but Mexico will. North America will become the predominant economic region on the planet with Canada's resources, Mexico's cheap and abundant labour and the US's highly skilled and AI savvy workforce combining to make a new powerhouse.

"the West can't compete with the scale and cost efficiencies of China's production."
Don't look now but China's brief period of economic advantage has already passed, supplanted by Vietnam and India and the Philippines. Its population is in decline, its industrial capacity also. And a declining xenophobic authoritarian regime, is very dangerous to its people and its neighbours.

It was Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United
States and the primary author of the Declaration of
Independence who said:

"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted
with their own government."

In other words the old cliche that you are entitled to your
opinion can be translated to mean, you are entitled to your
informed opinion. No one is entitled to be ignorant.

We can see by what's happening in the United States and
elsewhere around the globe that if people are informed they
will do the right thing. It is when they are not informed that
they become hostages to prejudice.

Associate Professor Brendan O'Çonnor, an expert in United States
political elections and politics at the United States Studies
Centre at the University of Sydney explains the Trump whirlwind
in this way:

"It's tempting to proclaim that Trump is very familiar to us
because he embodies the worst things about Americans. However,
these traits are apparent across the world."

"Trump is not merely an "ugly American" but is an amplification
of common place cultural trends. Those that Trump exemplifies
such as narcissism, self-centredness, gnat-like attention spans,
obsessive-self regard, pre-occupation with the number of
followers one has, and a lack of interest in listening to others,
these are all trends that are easy to pass off as particularly
"American."

"But, if we're honest, this behaviour is all around us. To
prevent the next Trump and there will be more, requires
challenging the sources of selfishness in much of modern
culture that is everywhere and seemingly on the rise."

We're told that:
There is widespread disapproval world-wide of Trump's
nationalistic, protectionist and racist policies. But, it
is his persona that most repels non-Americans. If foreigners
could vote Trump would never get elected. Trump is strongly
disliked across the world because he is the archetypal
"ugly American." Obnoxious, uncouth, boastful, materialistic,
and duplicitous.

Today we can toss a coin. Trump is either finished or on
the road back to the White House. No one can predict with any
certainty - which.

Yet again for the umpteenth time, Foxy demonstrates how shallow she is by failing to identify which Trump policies that she's opposed to, just that he's uncouth.

Of course, Europeans hate him. He forced them to pay for their own defence rather than making Americans do it. Of course Chinese hate him. He started them on the path to irrelevance. Of course, Russians hate him. He put them in a box from which they only escaped once he was illegitimately overthrown.

But Trump is running to be US President. Seems this is a concept beyond Foxy's understanding.

mhaze,

How does it feel having a convicted criminal as your supreme leader? I thought you were a believer in law and order, but supporting a criminal, now that's beyond the pale.

Hi mhaze,
I haven't been keeping up with everything going on recently re Trump.

"Well we do actually have a way of testing that. Unlike other candidates, we have evidence of Trump as president. Did Graham et al cause Trump to continue policies that will end up in war when he was first in power? Well anyone with even a modicum of historic memory will know the answer to that."

I know Trump didn't start any wars.
I just don't get the feeling Trump will be any better this time.
- But that's a somewhat ignorant comment.
I haven't been keeping up with everything Trump.

I'm not picking sides so much as I did in 2016.
I supported Trump back then, in a way who I would want if I was an American.

Now I'm not really thinking about it that way,
More whats best for Australia, what's best for the world.
- And I'm not even sure I know what the pro's and con's are.
I'm not entirely sure it makes a whole lot of difference for Australia who's in the Whitehouse.

>>According to AC concerning Navalny: "The charges weren't trumped up, they were legit and he was guilty;"<<
- I met you half-way, and accepted that going after him was certainly politically motivated.
The events had happened back around 2010, he was involved in fraud in connection with a timber scheme.

Hi AC,

It doesn't much matter if Donald Trump, Joe Biden or Micky Mouse is President of United States, although the third candidate on my list might be preferred. The fact is every President since George (Slave Owning) Washington has toes the "correct" political line to facilitate the expansion of Capitalism, both within America and on a global scale. Capitalism and its necessary drive for expansion has had both beneficial and detrimental effects. The benefits include economic growth through increased productivity, and when combined with a safety net of moderate Socialism gives a better overall result than each on its own, or any other political/economic system. Conflict develops when government through necessity tries to redistribute wealth away from capital and towards social equality, not an easy task, as demonstrated by the huge number of laws required to give the desired outcome. What is your preferred economic/political system? In the American context there would be no fundamental change regardless of whether Biden is President or Trump gets the gig.

Trump's attacks on the US Criminal Justice System and on
President Biden. Trump's accusations of "unprecedented
political prosecution," his unfounded grievances of a
"rigged system", his dangerous conspiracies of
a "weaponized" government" is how fascism works.

President Biden, as President has no authority over the state
court in New York. The jury who found Trump guilty on all 34
charges was also chosen by his defence team. They were a wide
mix of people and trump was given plenty of time for his defence.

What we're getting is the fact that if Trump wins, he's going
to use the apparatus of the state to target his political
opponents.

Believe what the man is saying.

And anyone who's trying to turn the US judicial system into a
political weapon (cudgel) must be held accountable.

Trump's turbulent tenure as president is on record.

Under Trump America retreated from its global and
moral leadership roles, alienated its democratic
állies and abandoned the bipartisan defense of liberal
ideals that had led to more than 70 years of security
and prosperity.

He made the United States more isolated, less respected,
weaker at home and ultimately less safe under his leadership.

He has dishonored the ideals of his country and turned its
people one against the other.

No well informed person would vote for this man a second time.

I guess I feel the same way as people who supported Mandela, or Navalny, or Václav Havel, or Aung San Suu Kyi, or Jawaharlal Nehru, or Michelle Bachelet or.....

Trump is in very good company of leaders who were prosecuted and persecuted by corrupt regimes so I feel quite comfortable supporting him.

Paul, OTOH, likes to think of himself as an anti-establishment deep-thinker, when in fact, whenever push comes to shove, he meekly follows the establishment line along with all the other sheeples

This is the article Foxy stole most of her last post from....

http://www.americanprogress.org/article/trumps-national-security-foreign-policy-failures-year-one/

written by a far left anti-Trump NGO with zero regard for the facts on the ground.

Foxy wrote: "He has dishonored the ideals of his country..".
Hint: "dishonored". When you are going to steal others thoughts and pass them off as your own so as to appear erudite, the least you could do is alter the US spelling to Australian English spelling.

Foxy wrote (or did she steal?): "President Biden, as President has no authority over the state court in New York."

That's true to a minor degree. But its been proven that Biden's DOJ was heavily involved in assisting the NY prosecutors and that those prosecutors regularly travelled to DC to get their instructions from the Feds.

Foxy wrote (or did she steal?): The jury who found Trump guilty on all 34 charges was also chosen by his defence team.

Not true. The district that the jury was chosen from had previously voted 95% for Hilary and 90% for sleepy Joe. So the vast majority were anti-Trump from the outset. So you bring in 100 potential jurors knowing that, at best 10 are not antagonistic to Trump. You then allow the defence to reject up to 30 of the group and allow the prosecution likewise. So the 10 not antagonistic to Trump get rejected and, hey presto!, you get a jury that would convict a ham sandwich if told to by the Democrat prosecutors.

"And anyone who's trying to turn the US judicial system into a
political weapon (cudgel) must be held accountable."

I suspect Biden et al will be. Maybe not by Trump who I still think will be defeated by a rigged system, but by those who pick up the mantle. http://youtu.be/t8RCQDDsMpU

"Of course Donald Trump is guilty.

The outcome was predetermined from the beginning.

A Soros funded DA who campaigned on getting Donald Trump teamed up with Biden's top guy at the DOJ and invented a crime out of thin air, elevating what is normally a misdemeanor to a felony despite lowering 60% of felonies for actual criminals.

They recruited a jury of liberal Trump haters in one of the most liberal jurisdictions in America and went to a Democrat activist/Biden donor judge who completely rigged the trial in their favor. Not to mention the fact that his daughter was raising money for Democrat politicians off the trial.

But despite having criminal charges that made no sense, despite having committed no crime, despite having a lead witness who is a convicted perjurer, and despite the jury not even being unanimous on the underlying crime, Trump is now guilty.

But really he's only guilty of one thing: Being Donald Trump.

Trump is guilty with having the audacity to run for president, be winning in the polls, and being a threat to the power centers of America.

They're taking him out via corrupt lawfare because they are scared that he will win.

Well the rubicon has been crossed. This is no longer America. This is a communist banana republic."

- Yes its does look like a kind of stupid comment I made on the face value of it.

I suppose I'm thinking to myself that the problems with America aren't going to be fixed with one President.
More than likely the only thing the Democrats and Republicans will ever agree on are things that will lead to WWIII.
Yes, Donald Trump didn't start any wars, but he didn't clean out the swamp, he became a part of it.
Maybe the real truth is that America can't be fixed.
I don't see that he's any more of a solution to the problems than he is just as much a part of the problem.

I don't support sanctions and overthrows.

Calling Trump - ant-war is a dishonest pitch.

We're told that Trump massively escalated the country's
existing wars in multiple theatres leading to sky-rocketing
casualties.

The following link explains:

http://foreignpolicy.com/2023/04/18/donald-trump-anti-imperialist-militarism-war/

1) In Afghanistan he substantially upped the amount of air-
strikes.

2) In Yemen he escalated both the US counter-terrorism
activities and support for the devastating Saudi led war
against the Houthis.

3) According to the UK's Bureau of Investigative Journalism
there were 2,243 drone-strikes in just the first 2 years of
Trump's presidency compared with 1,878 in the eight years
of the Obama Administration.

Then Trump also came very close to a nuclear war with North
Korea and the list goes on.

However. There's more to this man's shameful behaviour.

And those of us who honour our war dead and their families
every ANZAC DAY will find the following abhorrent:

The Atlantic tells us that the former US president has
repeatedly disparaged the intelligence serving members. Even
though they are prepared to die in defending him. Trump has
asked that wounded veterans be kept out of military parades.

According to The Atlantic, when Trump cancelled a visit to
the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018 he
blamed rain saying his helicopter couldn't fly and that the
Secret Service couldn't drive him there.

None of this The Atlantic says was true.

We're told that Trump rejected the idea of the visit (due to
conversations witnessed) because his hair would get disheveled
in the rain, and because he did not believe it was important
to honour America's war dead.

Trump was quoted as saying:

"Why would I go to the cemetery? It's filled with "losers."

In a separate conversation Trump referred to the
more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood
as "suckers" for getting killed.

Why would anyone defend this man or vote for him to be their
country's leader?

""Why would I go to the cemetery? It's filled with "losers.""

Pathetic Foxy. This isn't the first time you've repeated this story. Previously I have pointed out that its all fantasy and provided the evidence, which of course went in one ear and out the other.
The reason Trump didn't attend Aisne-Marne American Cemetery was that it was raining and the "Marine Corps and White House Military Office made the determination collaboratively with the Secret Service that Paris’ overcast and rainy conditions posed too much risk for Marine One to fly to Aisne-Marne, which is about 60 miles northeast of Paris."

Trump instead attended a different cemetery. The Trump quote you had was made up by his political opponents based on anonymous sources. You, as usual fell for it. There are no recordings of it, and no one who says they heard it.

But why am I offering facts to you? I'd have more luck teaching String Theory to my grandson's hamster.

President Trump did refer to fallen US Service members
at the Aisne-Marne Cemetery in crude and derogatory
terms during a November 2018 trip to France to
commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the end of WWI,
a former senior administration officer confirmed to CNN.

The author of The Atlantic article, Jeffrey Goldberg also said:

"I have multiple sources telling me this is what happened,
and so I stand by it."

CNN tells us that:

Fox News, The Washington Post, the New York Times, and the
Associated Press have also collaborated The Atlantic reporting.

Trump of course denies it.
As any scumbag would. It's obvious he's a nasty, belligerent,
liar. Woefully unqualified and suffering mental acquity issues
as he ages.

He gets real pleasure in his acts and deeds. And if elected
he shall be the clown of the world at America's expense.

The late Senator John McCain (R-Ariz) and Presidential
nominee banned Trump from attending his funeral. To which
McCain's wife complied and honoured her late husband's
wishes. Trump had called McCain a "loser" for being captured
and spending five and a half years in a North Vietnamese
prison.

Did Trump ever serve in the military?

Business Insider confirms that Donald Trump avoided
the military draft 5 times.

He was granted deferments:

Once for bad feet and 4 times for college.

Thanks to the deferments Trump did not serve in Vietnam.

Wikipedia tells us that:

"Trump was the first US president without prior
military or government experience. Trump promoted
conspiracy theories and made many false and misleading
statements during his campaign and presidency, to a
degree unprecedented in American politics."

There you go folks. By his own definition he was therefore
neither a "loser" or a "sucker." I'm sure his supporters

Just a question; What do think Putin and Xi think when they see Sleepy Old Joe on telly, as he hobbles out to the rostrum to make a speech. Maybe; "Wow! look at that old codger, what a push over!". I fully expect one day to see Old Joe making his way out in a dressing gown and slippers, on the arm of a nurse. We can gauge just how successful the first Trump presidency was based on the fact that those who hate him have to make up stuff to attack him:

AC claim - he forced Venezuelans to eat zoo animals because of his sanctions.
Fact: the Venezuelan economy was already in the toilet before Trump got involved and none of his sanctions were to do with food supplies. Primarily he targeted leaders who were suppressing their people. Why was Venezuela going downhill? Because under Chavez they went full socialist - it never works and always results in famine and deprivation.

Paul claim - Trump said disinfectant would fix the WuFlu. He even has quotes!!
Fact - never suggested detergent would fix WuFlu but he did mention that some scientists were looking at a form of detergent as a partial cure. Misinterpreted by the press and morons like Paul fell for. BTW, Trump also pushed Ivermectin which Paul originally ridiculed but which is now confirmed as a valid treatment for the WuFlu.

Foxy claim (yet again) - Trump skipped a ceremony at a French cemetery because those in the graves were losers. She's even got the quote so it must be true. She wouldn't lie about such things, would she?

Fact - the US Marine service on multiple occasions confirmed it was their decision to not attend the ceremony because Trump would have had to fly and it was too dangerous due to weather. Their decision, not Trump's. So he attended a different cemetery which apparently, if you believe Foxy's moronic claims, didn't have losers and suckers, or something. Logic takes a holiday. Of course there's zero evidence for Foxy's claims. The journalist was all in for Hilary, so obviously completely unbiased!

Still Foxy falls for this sort of crapola all the time.

Foxy's also upset that Trump didn't join the military unlike Clinton, the Obammessiah and sleepy Joe himself.</sarcasm>. None were in the military but that's OK because...reasons. Foxy is so consumed with Trump Derangement Syndrome that she can barely see straight, which is a problem when you're so one eyed.

It is almost too obvious to point out that Trump
supporters really don't care what Trump does.
They don't care if he's guilty. Because he doesn't!

Trump can, as he himself has said - shoot someone on
5th Avenue in New York without any consequences.

And, of course now that he's been found guilty - Trump
will stick to the " It's been rigged," and the
"witch-hunt" line.

BUT - it all does matter.

No one should be above the law.

Trump expects to get away with things. He expects different
treatment from the justice system.

We can only hope that it will not be in the way he wants.

American news sources tell us that in the past 20 years
the justice system in the US has significantly cut the
number of white-collar cases to take to trial, opting for
settlements or fines or other resolutions that often
feel like justice for the wealthy and influential.

The perpetrators do profit and harm is done.

The Los Angeles Times writes that in 2021, losses from
white collar crime was somewhere between - $426 billion
and $1.7 trillion.

Hi Paul,

I think that Joe Biden is only running to keep Trump out
of office. I'm sure should he win, he will resign not
long after. I think the man has had enough.

However, at least he is a man with vast political expertise
and he does consult and listen to advice. He will not
drag the US down an authoritarian anti-democratic fascist
path.

I would prefer a cup of hot cocoa to a nuclear war.

Foxy showing that she understands the issues around the trial in the same way as my budgie understands Newton's laws of motion (ie not at all) thinks that the trial was about white collar crime and theft of money - "The perpetrators do profit and harm is done."

Fool. There was never any accusation of theft. No one lost any money. No one profited. None of that is even remotely true. Not remotely true. And not remotely what the trial was about.

Venezuela
May 2017 – Venezuela Supreme Court targeted

The US Treasury sanctioned Venezuela‘s chief judge and seven other members of the country’s Supreme Court of Justice as punishment for seizing powers from Venezuela’s opposition-led National Assembly in early 2017.
The judges had their assets frozen within US jurisdiction, and the US barred American citizens from doing business with them.

August 2017 – Sanctions imposed on bonds and oil

On August 25, the US Treasury restricted the trading of Venezuelan bonds sold by Venezuela’s government in US financial markets. The Treasury also prohibited US financial institutions from engaging in new purchases or trade with Venezuela’s state oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).

May 2018 – Maduro ally sanctioned

On May 18, the US sanctioned former Venezuelan government official Diosdado Cabello Rondon – regarded as an ally of President Nicolas Maduro, and considered the second most powerful person in the country after Maduro – for “narcotics trafficking, money laundering, embezzlement of state funds, and other corrupt activities”.

January 2019 – More oil sanctions

Following opposition figure Juan Guaido’s self-proclamation as the interim president of Venezuela on January 23, the US hit PDVSA with sweeping sanctions in a move aimed at pressuring Maduro to cede power to his opponents.
The sanctions stopped PDVSA from collecting the proceeds of oil exported to US customers, while also freezing the assets of PDVSA’s units, including Citgo, its US-based subsidiary.

April 2019 – Central Bank of Venezuela banned

On April 17, the US sanctioned the Central Bank of Venezuela “to prevent it from being used as a tool of the illegitimate Maduro regime”.
Venezuela’s Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs Jorge Alberto Arreaza Montserrat was sanctioned on April 26.
“Treasury will continue to target corrupt Maduro insiders, including those tasked with conducting diplomacy and carrying out justice on behalf of this illegitimate regime,” Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said.

August 2019 – Government assets embargoed

Trump signed an executive order imposing an economic embargo against Venezuela, freezing all Venezuelan government assets in the US and barring transactions with the country’s authorities.
“Every country that has investments in the US should be very worried because this sets a dangerous precedent against private property,” Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said in response to the sanctions.

The reason why only half agreed was because the rest were Trump haters.
- But the establishment wants to be able to repeat 'Felon Trump' every hour on the hour on CNN and MSNBC till November.

It's all about reinforcing narratives.

Trump = Felon.

Dear Foxy,

.

You ask :

« Will the former US President be sent to prison for a non-violent paper crime ? »
.

Trump’s 34 charges were for falsifying business records, a Class E felony in New York State that carries a sentencing range of 16 months to 4 years.

I understand that Judge Merchan, who has to decide on the sentence, has a reputation for being harsher on white-collar criminals than many other judges.

That being the case, it would seem that Donald the Dictator can expect to get a 16 months suspended jail sentence with probation. I doubt that Judge Michan would want to make a martyr out of him by having him locked up immediately or for a long period.

An alternative option, of course, is community service, but it is difficult to imagine what type of community service Donald the Dictator could be required to provide – some form of financial assistance, perhaps ?

“Cooking the books” is a widespread practice in the business world. The Ernst & Young Global Integrity Survey in 2022 found that “more than 4 in 10 (42%) board members agree that unethical behaviour in senior or high performers is tolerated in their organizations” and that “one in five of almost 3,500 staff quizzed in 36 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India said they had seen financial manipulation in their companies in the last 12 months”.

The problem in Donald the Dictator’s case is that he “cooked the books” to hide his “hush money” deal with Stormy Daniels, a professional pornographic film actress. If the public got wind of it they may not have voted for him. It was a close call. Trump was elected despite Hilary Clinton having received 3 million more votes than he did.

As a result, the hush-money deal could well have constituted a grave interference in the 2016 presidential election. Without the cover-up, he may not have been elected.

Hi Foxy,

I say the Democrats are as guilty in firing the flames of Trumpism as anyone, with Biden in the white House. America is a failed state of political leadership if the best 340 million people can offer up is Biden and Trump. Both men are an embarrassment to western democracy. Trump is a worthless criminal, and Biden is a dotty old fool. As I said way back in 2016, I don't care who leads America, the outcome is always the same. Just as Trump was a political disaster, Biden also is a disaster end of story. The best I can say is wait till 2028, if any of us are still around.

No Drama

For Mama.

I apologise to mhaze, to Armchair Critic, and to anyone
else that I may have offended with my strong
stance over the current American fiasco.
That wasn't my intention and I
certainly do not hate Mr Trump.

I merely try to present facts from
the wide variety of American journalists, authors,
political commentators, and news sources -
about the man.

In any case, it won't be long now with his sentence to be
announced on July 11th. Which will be followed by his campaign
for office undoubtedly as the Republican Presidential nominee.

It will be up to the American people to decide if they want
this man as their president.

Hi Paul,

I understand your feelings.

You're not alone. This American election promises to be a
test for so many voters. Whether they get it right - only
time will tell.

The Democrats have introduced a system in which political opponents are prosecuted.

If Trump is elected, he might well use the new system against Joe Biden, Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, and the Pelosi woman. What fun that would/will be.

Foxy wrote: "I merely try to present facts".

Well make up facts.

There is nothing factual about the claim the Trump trial was about "The perpetrators" profiting and doing harm. No profit was made. It had nothing, nought nada to do with Trump profiting from white collar crime.

You were 100% wrong and we'll never see you acknowledge that.

" facts from the wide variety of American journalists"

Well if you can find a journalist who says the trial was about profiteering I'd love to see it so I which publications to avoid as devoid of truth.

Yeah but that had nought to do with Trump. Nothing. You just made that part up based on your complete misunderstanding of the trial and what Trump was accused of.

But rest assured Foxy, you're not alone. You are in the company of millions of low information anti-Trumpites who neither know nor care what he was charged with so long as they got him. But to a man (or in this woman) they deceive themselves into thinking they are fair-minded and have the interests of the nation at heart.

As I said earlier, Trump is in good company here - Mandela, Havel, Navalny, Aung San Suu Kyi. All gaoled on false charges by authoritarian regimes and all done with the approval of low-information unthinking supporters of the regime. How does it feel to know that, had you been in South Africa 50 years ago you would have been cheering the arrest and gaoling of Mandela?

As for a moral code?

The law functions as a formal embodiment of a moral
code. Not as a free-standing substitute for it.

When cheating and lying becomes a way of life for some
men. These men create for themselves a legal system that
authorizes it, and a moral code that glorifies it.

What happens next after Trump's 11 July (12th July our time) sentencing?

1. Probably - Probation (due to age, first offence, Can threaten the Judge, and Trump is White)

1(a) Trump's legal team arguing a suspension of his conviction+sentence is necessary on special democracy grounds until after the 5 November Election .

2. Possibly - Home/Trump Tower Palace Arrest, maybe with an ankle bracelet.

3. Less likely - Prison. Would need to be a (State not Federal?) luxury prison camp in New York State. Trump's "cell", more likely a custom built wing using US military style portable modules. Would need to meet Trump's ex-Presidential circumstances. 4 shifts of 6 = 24 Secret Servicemen always with Trump. No contact with ordinary crims eg. meals by Trump's self. Maintain electoral staff and journalists, communications and Internet access for Trump to fight his Presidential Campaign.

Watching Q&A right now I was stunned at the blatant hypocrisy displayed during the discussion about Assange. It was said that Biden & Trump promised to look at the Assange situation if elected. There was a Pie chart showing the majority's view on releasing Assange & a small wedge showing undecided or against.
The large part was in red as in Labor & the small one in blue as in LNP. If that was not a callously calculated politically biased display I'd like someone explain why not !

Dear Foxy,

.

Trumpism has undoubtedly become the most powerful political cult in the USA today with the one and only Donald the Dictator as its omniscient guru.

Trumpism has everything of a cult : charismatic authority, a transcendent belief system, a system of control, and a system of influence.

As Janja Lalich, a cult researcher and professor emerita of sociology at California State University, Chico explains :

« The result of this interactive dynamic is a “self-sealing system,” that is, a social system that is closed to disconfirming evidence and structured in such a way that everything reinforces the system »

She continues :

« The interrelated and interlocking nature of the four dimensions form a “self-sealing system,” a social system closed in on itself and closed to the outside world. It is characterized by ideological totalism and processes of influence and control that may lead adherents to a high degree of commitment that I have identified as “charismatic commitment.” Now the dedicated adherent becomes a “true believer” in the sense of being a deployable agent for the group or leader. Living within the bounded reality of the cultic social system, the cult member encounters no meaningful reality checks and becomes more and more enmeshed with and invested in the closed world of the group.

For some, this may lead to a state of “personal closure,” or the individualized version of the self-sealing system. The member’s life and choices are constrained not only by the system but also, and perhaps even more powerfully, by the close-mindedness of the
individual him- or herself who is functioning in alliance with that system.

Now the dedicated adherent has entered a social-psychological state of being that I am calling bounded choice: in essence, life outside the cult has become impossible to imagine. »

It is estimated that there are about four or five thousand cults active in the United States today. Here are the four most notorious ones – much of Donald the Dictator’s rhetoric is similar to theirs :

‘It’s incredible’: Julian Assange supporters thrilled by Dutton remarks May 5, 2023
http://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/albanese-expresses-frustration-over-assange-case-as-dutton-changes-tone-20230505-p5d5tx.html

>>Supporters of Julian Assange feel buoyed by the emergence of bipartisan support for the case against the WikiLeaks founder to be brought to a close after a significant change in rhetoric from Opposition Leader Peter Dutton...

"This needs to be brought to a conclusion. It needs to be worked through, we’re working through diplomatic channels, we’re making very clear what our position is on Mr Assange’s case."

Dutton backed Albanese’s position on Friday, saying Assange’s case had gone on for too long.

"The matters, I think, have to be dealt with and if the Prime Minister’s charting a course through to an outcome on that, that’s a good thing," he told ABC radio.

He indicated the opposition would work behind-the-scenes with the government to help secure Assange’s release.<<

Of our mob's destined plight
To make America Great Again

Trump won't refrain
He can't be restrained
He's on a path to glory
None of us will rest
Until the very best

A land that will rise
For all of us Whites

Unsurprisingly the link doesn't mention white-collar crime.

Has that sunk in yet, Foxy? I suspect not.

Still, its pretty funny that Foxy spends who knows how many posts pretending that she knows what its all about and then finally decides to go look it up.

Not that you'll know, care, or in the least understand but none of the accusations against Trump are about white collar crime or profiteering from such crime.

The following is as good a summary of the Trump revolution as you will see....
http://tomklingenstein.com/convicted-by-the-rational-state/

Excerpts:

"The Constitution may continue to exist in name, but it has mostly been replaced by an administrative state of bureaucratic experts.

Trump is the greatest threat to this ruling class since Richard Nixon. He has therefore aroused more raw political passion than anyone in recent memory. Making him a convicted felon is a calculated gamble to keep him from returning to the White House. There is a risk it could backfire. But the ruling class knows that Trump is entirely alone in the political establishment. He has the support of millions of voters—almost certainly a plurality of the American people. But he is opposed by virtually all of the influential social, economic, political, and cultural interest groups that determine the outcome of elections."

"Things are now becoming clear even to those who haven’t been paying attention, or were in denial. The citizens of the country are realizing that their way of life is dependent upon opposing the ruling class. They are beginning to realize that Trump is protecting their rights, and he is paying a price for his actions in a way that it is not simply personal, but political. Whether the American people themselves are willing to accept the hardship and costs of opposing the ruling class remains to be seen."

Most won't read it. More won't understand it. But this is the greatest event since the rise of Reagan and it'd be a shame to fail to at least recognise it.

And if you think this only applies to the US, think again. I saw an Australian Minister of Immigration say it was OK that he lied to parliament because he was just repeating what his bureaucracy had told him. They lied to him - he lied to us. All OK. And no one will be sacked or even sanctioned.

"I've watched her on the "Insiders" program many times and her views have always been balanced."

Well, balanced in terms of the ABC. That is they tell the story from the point of view of the left and for balance they tell the story from the point of view of the far-left. This is balance as far as the ABC is concerned.

http://youtu.be/K8y4Z-ZAhjw

This is a storm in a teacup. Everyone knows that the left considers Australia racist. Especially after the Voice failure where they salve their hurt by saying it was the result of racism rather than accept it was the result of their failed policies. They are determined to not learn from history. Then again its not really possible be a leftist without refusing to learn from history.

Is Australia a racist country? Well, define 'racist country'. Does it mean it contain some racists? Answer ...yes. Are a majority racist? Answer...no. Are our policies racist? Answer...absolutely no.

If the criteria is that it has a minority that are racist then every country on the planet is racist and the claim is without meaning in that context. But what people like Tingle want to get away with is the simple claim that, since they themselves aren't racist (in their mind) then anything that occurs that doesn't follow their think is definitionally racist.

Welcome to the ABC. We live with it. Tolerate it. Laugh at it.

Is there a 'SECT OF THE DONALD' already set up in Australia? If not possibly mhaze, and 12 (Donald) disciples, could set up a local group to preach the word of The Donald in the area with mhaze as the first "Prophet " of the very first Australian gathering of the 'Sect Of The Donald'. January 6th each year could be a sort of "Good Friday" for the cult where they commemorate the "Crucifixion" of The Donald under the rule of Pontius Biden. November 5th could become "Resurrection Day"!

"Well, balanced in terms of the ABC. That is they tell the story from the point of view of the left and for balance they tell the story from the point of view of the far-left. This is balance as far as the ABC is concerned."

I'm not entirely convinced about that.
I think much of the rights whinge comes down to the abc not sucking Israels balls like you / they do, to the point you / they think the abc's fair reporting on the Israel / Gaza conflict is Antisemitic and sacrilege.
So you won't get any sense out of the right on this issue, their loyaties lie with a foreign nation anyway, they're not unbiased.
- Their gripes exist because of their bias.

Take this aricle here:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-21/ebrahim-raisi-the-butcher-of-tehran-rise-and-fall/103870706

"A decades-long shadow war between Iran and Israel exploded in April when Tehran struck the country from its own soil."
- What they DON'T say is that Israel's belligerence in launching a strike on Irans consulate in Iraq, an act that goes against ALL international norms was a provocation that FORCED Iran to respond.

* So this article omits facts to tell a Pro-Israel narrative.
- But then you go on reading further and they talk about the Shah of Iran in exile.

So in my opinion the article is not Pro-Palestinian.
It's pro-American hegemony, pro-democracy, pro imperialist and pro US foreign policy.

Take this:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06-03/foreign-affairs-poll-yougov-donald-trump-julian-assange-gaza/103920126
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has called allegations of crimes by Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "libellous" and "outrageous", joining condemnation from leaders of the UK and US.

Dutton's a lying bias piece of crap.

http://youtu.be/V48vIcHTvbQ

The US government knows damn well Israel is committing war crimes.
- And I'd bet all these other conservative western leaders do too.

Israel-firster politicians, and under 'democracy' they've probably all been bought off by Pro-Israel lobby, like sheeps to the slaughter because of their own religious bias and personal quest for power.

WWIII prospects this week...

The US seems to be trying to escalate the Ukraine conflict to all out war;
- But they're trying to do so in a way that when it happens the West can blame Russia for the escalation and increase in hostilities.

This is whats happening.
The West is losing badly in Ukraine.
The West and Ukraine want to be able to use long-range missiles into pre-2014 Russia.
Ukraine argues it doesn't have any chance to win whilst they have there are these 'safe zones' inside Russia.
Russia argues that these US weapons also require US surveillance, US targeting and that firing them into Russia is not Ukraine attacking Russia but The West openly attacking Russia.
They also argue that Ukraine enjoys NATO 'safe zones' inside Europe which Russia can't hit without escalation;

So Russia argues that if the West uses weapons inside Russia, then it's then ok for Russia to attack NATO bases in Europe.

The West either believe Putin is bluffing, which he is not, or they know he's not bluffing but are deliberately looking to escalate in a manner that makes Russia look like they are the ones doing it.

St. Peterberg International Economic Forum this week, and also the BRICS forum in Kazan in October under Russian chairmanship.

I wonder if the U.S. is willing to start a world war to prevent further de-dollarisation / economic moves against them.
They seem backed into a corner, willing to throw their allies under the bus, and completely ill-prepared to lose in Ukraine.

'profited in monetary terms'
- Hahahahahahaha

You almost have to stand back and look at the bigger picture and laugh at it all.
The truth of it is this...

Trumps never made as much money in his lifetime as he has since the left started attacking him like a bunch of fanatics!

Trump’s Net Worth Hits $6.5 Billion, Making Him One of World’s 500 Richest People
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-25/donald-trump-6-4-billion-net-worth-makes-him-one-of-world-s-richest-people

"Despite taking a hit on Friday, Trump’s stake was still valued at $5.6 billion — a windfall that earlier this year placed him in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index for the first time."

So one could say that Trump was 'stinking rich' before
- But the left have helped to make him 'FILTHY stinking rich'

Not to mention that attacking Trump is MONEY IN THE BANK
- Democracts are probably hoping the 'Felony' hurts him more than the funds help him.

The facts are - that Trump has lied for years about
his wealth on financial statements that he used to
secure loans and make deals so he would profit as he
built the real estate empire that vaulted him to
fame and the presidency.

The NY lawsuit cuts to the core of Trump's image as
a wealthy, shrewd, real estate mogul, turned political
force.

The man is and always has been - a fraudster, cheat, and liar.
But more than that - he's racist, homophobic,
xenophobic, sexist. However, when all's said and done, -
he's the perfect Republican candidate.

"Trump has reaped, and is still reaping, millions (and growing)

No, that's not a fair statement.
Whatever Trump did or didn't do in business prior to becoming president is irrelevant.

It's this attack against him, politically motivated, Trump Derangement Syndrome antics, which has made him more money than anything.

If the left and progressives had've just ignored him, and not tried to bankrupt him and take control over his properties, never carried on like lunatics and cancelled him off social media, put him in jail etc. Trump would've never had as much impact on anything, and he'd still barely be a billionaire, let alone one 6 times over.

The lefts deranged antics have in fact made Trump more richer and famous than he could ever have dreamed.
And a man like Trump probably feeds off the good fortune and attention.

Armchair Critic,

You go where the truth takes you?

You seem to have missed a great deal.

We're told that Trump has reaped over $100 million
through fraud:

And, that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Trump's current support in the United States and
elsewhere should not come as a surprise to people
who've followed American history. Or who've worked
and lived in the United States.

Those of us who hoped that the election of
President Obama was a positive for America and that
things would change. We were wrong as the Ferguson
Riots or the Charleston Church shootings showed. It
proved that it will take more than a change of
the Chief Executive to improve the racial situation.

Despite the mosaic and salad bowl avatar references,
racism and anti-immigrant prejudice runs deep
as constants throughout US history.

This unique nation of immigrants bears the stigma of
its original sin - slavery. The importation of
blacks as servile labour from Africa. Historically
welcomed as chattel before the Civil War and later as
unwanted citizens.

And today Black Americans still struggle to achieve full
acceptance in every walk of life.

Trump in his 2016 campaign used the tactic of speaking for
the average American against privileged elites, but he
also demonized immigrants, Muslims, and of course certain
racial and ethnic minorities.

We're going to see the return of the WASPS.
White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestants. We're goin to see a heyday of
white nationalism under a president who knows how to stoke
the flames of division and prejudice.

And his popularity in this country should not come as a
surprise either.

By the PROSECUTOR. Struth Foxy how gullible can you be.

They claimed he overvalued his properties to get loans.

The people who gave him the loans said they did their own valuations and agreed with Trump's valuation. They got paid back in full and on time. No fraud.

Just more banana republic style persecution of the political opposition.

Why should I care about Trump or Biden? I don't,I have no interest in the corupt American political system. I can understand how a Trump with his simplistic political message, just like Hitler and Mussolini, Trump will attract the powerless, politically disposed such as you. Trump is the "Great White Hope" in your eyes, but unfortunately for you his downfall will come, and you will still be in your position of failure just as you are now.

"Donald Trump committed fraud for years"

Poor Foxy, still desperately searching for something to prove what she so hopes is true.

Trump committed white-collar crime she confidently asserted....and then had to retreat, tail between legs, when I showed that was rubbish.

Trump defrauded someone of $100 million she confidently asserted....except no one lost any money in their dealings with Trump. They all got paid on time and in full.

Now he's defrauded insurers or something...except no insurer is claiming to have lost a dime.

What poor Foxy fails to understand is that all this has nowt to do with the accused crimes and everything to do with criminalising a political opponent.

I asked her previously how she feels about knowing that if she lived in South Africa 50 years ago she'd have been cheering on the gaoling of Mandela. It seems she'd have been quite comfortable with that.

" Donald Trump likes to claim that the loans for which

"Nobody lost money?"

"If Mr Trump received favourable loans and insurance terms,

No higher authority than that....<mega sarc>

These dills go on like the banks were clueless dupes. These are some of the biggest most successful banks on the planet. They didn't just take Trump's word for it as regards their valuations. They did their own valuations. They ALWAYS do their own valuations. If you go for a mortgage do you think the banks going to take your word for it as to how much the collateral is worth? Seriously, the cluelessness is astounding.

I warned you to stop digging but you can't help yourself.

ps regarding the Washington Post.... they have lost half their readership over the past 5 years because of the crap they write. Now the owners, seeing the writing on the wall, have sacked the editor and quite a few others and are bringing in less ideologically tainted people ie they are going from being a far-left paper to merely a left leaning paper.

Is it?
It could be pathetic.
But only if you're dumb enough to think our leaders are actual leaders and not branch managers.

Maybe Albo and Dutton are pathetic.
Maybe the Australian people are satified being lead by pathetic people.
Or maybe it's the Australian people themselves who are pathetic.

What do you want me to do about it when people keep banging on about how great democracy is, but gives us a choice between 2 idiots that are both unlikeable and electable?

Great system.

Why pay attention to the destructive morons in my own government?
- They would only be replaced by even more destructive morons.
Haven't you noticed the trend?

All western governments are now lead by destructive morons.
This is a result of a destruction of nationalism and loyalty to country and pandering to woke crap and western imperialist ideals.
- Shrouded as:

"Do you think Australia should take a leading role in 'such and such' foreign bullshite"
- like say defending the 'plight of the warming penguins in antarctic'

Really what that means is America wants to send 2 carrier fleets and an invasion force to CONQUER the wealth and riches of Antarctica.

What really matters is the colour of ink and plastic we use, that we call 'money', does it have an American or a Chinese face on it.
This is what will lead the world to war, and the conflict we're being drawn into and to which we must carefully choose sides.

You think these 2 douchebags and their ilk are even up to navigating a course forward?

Washington Posts's credibility and reporting work over
the last century?

The publication is one of the leading daily newspapers
in the United States and its circulation figures are good
considering the direction of print media in recent years.

The Washington Post has moved with the times and made the
necessary shift towards digital along with many print
outlets, with positive results.

The newspaper has a large number of digital subscribers
world wide and is amongst the most popular news brands in
the US.

The Washington Post frequently ranks in the top five brands
in terms of monthly users, along with the likes of
The New York Times, CNN and FOX News.

The Washington Post is perhaps best known for its coverage
of the Watergate Scandal in the 1970s led by
Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward.

Interesting.

"Yes...he's a dictator. That was rather my point. Of course we all know you are a shrill for the world's dictators."

Propaganda.
Narratives and keywords manipulate you, force you to take sides.
Help you to form an opinion before you even have one of your own.

You could say 'dictator'... or
You could just say 'The President of Russia'

When you say 'dictator' does if fill you with a need to take action?
Maybe involve yourself in the internal affairs of another country?
- Believing you're 'doing the right thing'?

Maybe you're a man of action
A man of conviction, with the balls to back it up.
Maybe we should arm you to the teeth, and parachute you in?

A lot of people supported Ukraine believing it was 'the right thing' too mate
- And a hell of a lot of Ukrainians are dead now.

Maybe half a million is a drop in the pond to you.
And who knows how many women and young girls and kids ended up with the likes of human traffickers, sex traffickers and organ harvested?

Maybe you think more Ukrainians dragged off the street and sent to the front to die with no chance of winning is also 'the right thing'?

We must stand up for democracy!
- And who cares who suffers in the process

(Really it's just a silly long term plan to overthrow Putin, chop Russia into tiny weak states, loot the country, make them weak and pathetic and manageable with LGBTQI and ring fence China; in order that everyone kneels before the West and continues to use their very special bits of ink and paper AKA The U.S. dollar.)

Dear Banjo,

The Australia Institute, tells us that:

Donald Trump appeals to Americans' worst instincts. We're
told that a great many of them are suffering from entrenched
poverty, violence, and alienation. The think tank explains
that this is probably why his conspiracies
and lies find such committed believers.

They paint for us - a rather frightening picture based on
Trump's words, and actions to date.

We're told that Trump does not care about the suffering of
those who support him. He only cares about himself. That he
has no idea about service or sacrifice.

He's called American Service people who fought and died -
"suckers," and "losers."

It is all of a concern because The US has been Australia's
security for decades. Presidents and Prime Ministers have
come and gone. But, none of those leaders have ever been
an active threat to our shared value of democracy -
until now.

Trump has said he will get rid of the American Constitution.
The man is unpredictable. And certainly does not represent
security, safety, or stability.

It is suggested that we should reconsider spending billions
of dollars on some submarines that we may or may not get
sometime in the distant future and further cede our
sovereignty to a wannabe dictator.

That we should instead invest in careful diplomacy in our
region working with allies in the Pacific and with
neighbours such as - Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and
Vietnam to ensure our collective security.

Our future plans should mean staying true to our democratic
values and it should mean being clear-eyed about the state
of democracy in Australia.

http://australiainstitute.org.au/post/if-trump-comes-back-do-we-want-him-as-an-ally/

We may not take everything on board that the think tank
tells us or suggests. But it certainly provides us with food
for thought. And in my case - distinct unease. I find what
Trump says and does very unsettling.

AC tells me that since I think Putin is a dictator that must mean I think " more Ukrainians dragged off the street and sent to the front to die with no chance of winning is also 'the right thing'"

What ones got to do with t'other is something that only a mind as deranged as AC would know.

I was going to do a full fisking on AC's logic but then realised that calling it logic was a complete misnomer.

Logic takes a holiday.

Somehow thinking Putin's a dictator means you must support Ukraine!! Of course the corollary is that, if you don't support Ukraine you have to excuse Putin in all his maniacal practices.

Just to make it easier for poor AC - I prefer a system where the people get to choose their leaders even if the choice isn't terribly appealing rather than a system where opposing the leadership is a death sentence.

Apart from anything else, systems where the people choose the leader is vastly more beneficial for the people than the alternative in terms of economic welfare. But that will go over AC's head.

______________________________________________________________-

"Trump has said he will get rid of the American Constitution."

I don't know how deranged and uninformed you have to be to believe that type of rubbish... perhaps Foxy can tells us although she shows it daily.

And sadly, that was the least bonkers claim she made in her last post.

mhaze,

The claims made were not mine. They came out of
Trump's own mouth as well as the given links.

Personally, I allow the facts to speak for themselves.
You should try it using facts instead of using personal insults
on me - and Trump's conspiracies and lies.

Pathetic!

Here's an article from a couple days ago -

Droning Russia’s nuke radars is the dumbest thing Ukraine can do
http://responsiblestatecraft.org/ukraine-russia-nuclear-radars/
'Attacks on the early warning system actually highlights the fragility of peace between the world's nuclear powers'

This ones from Carnagie

The United States Should Not Further Loosen Its Prohibition on Ukraine’s Using U.S.-Supplied Weapons to Strike Russia
http://carnegieeurope.eu/posts/2024/06/ukraine-prohibition-us-weapons-strike-russia

"In the past two weeks, Ukraine appears to have attacked large Russian radars at Armavir and Orsk, severely damaging the former. After more than two years of conflict, Ukrainian strikes against Russian radars—even on Russian soil—may seem unremarkable, but these were no ordinary radars. They were part of Russia’s strategic early warning system, designed to detect an incoming American nuclear strike and to enable Russia to launch its own nuclear forces before they are destroyed."

What do you think might happen or maybe rephrase the question...
What do you think Russia will think if F-16's capable of carrying Western nuclear weapons start flying into Ukraine right now?
- After the west (which provides Ukraine's surveillance and targeting) deliberately took out Russia's strategic early warning system, 'designed to detect an incoming American nuclear strike'?

There are no nuclear treaties left in effect.

The West is continuing to try to escalate by allowing the use of long-range weapons to hit targets inside of Russia.

Russia warns US against 'fatal' miscalculation in Ukraine
http://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-warns-us-against-fatal-miscalculation-ukraine-2024-06-03/

"I would like to warn American leaders against miscalculations that could have fatal consequences. For unknown reasons, they underestimate the seriousness of the rebuff they may receive," state news agency RIA quoted Ryabkov as saying.

Again AC, you raving incoherently about Ukraine doesn't obviate the fact that Putin is a dictator.

Try as you might to change the subject away from your never-ending shrilling for the world's totalitarian dictators, I'm not playing. I've never supported Ukraine nor the war. I said from the outset that I'd like to see both sides lose. And they both are.

But you have this inane notion that opposing Putin is the same as supporting Ukraine and conversely, opposing Ukraine means yo have to excuse the megalomania of Putin.

Well, you're just wrong.

Former US President Donald Trump posted:

"Will he be re-elected? "

No. Even though he's leading in the polls, he's not far enough ahead to overcome the electoral fraud that the Democrats will perpetrate. He'll win the votes and lose the count. Just like 2020.

"And if he is - what will that do for America's image in the world?"

It will be enhanced, showing that the American people remain free and understand the anti-democratic practices of the ruling elite for what they are. That'll go over Foxy's head.

BTW the issue of immunity is totally separate to the issue of the New York show trial. That'll go over Foxy's head. Trump isn't claiming immunity for that case. Still, obviously Foxy is opposed to immunity for presidents, so she'd be totally in agreement with prosecution for the Obamessiah for the extra-judicial murder of Americans while president and the prosecution of Biden for dereliction of duty as regards Kabul, both of which are covered by the immunity provisions for presidents.

That'll go over Foxy's head.

Time magazine published the results from 2 interviews with
Trump and with conversations with more than a dozen of his
closest advisers and confidents on what Trump would do if
elected as President for a second term. Here's what
emerged:

1) Trump would carry out a deportation operation designed
to remove more than 11 million people from the country.

2) Trump said he would be willing to build migrant detention
camps and deploy US military, both at the border and inland.

3) He would let red states monitor women's pregnancies and
prosecute those who violate abortion bans.

4) Trump would at his personal discretion, with-hold funds
appropriated by Congress, according to top advisers.

5) Trump would be willing to fire a US Attorney who
did not carry out his order to prosecute someone.
Breaking with a tradition of independent law enforcement
that dates from America's founding.

6) Trump is weighing pardons for every one of his supporters
accused of attacking the US Capitol on June 6th 2021. More
than 800 of whom have pleaded guilty or been convicted by
a jury.

7) Trump might not come to the aid of an attacked ally
in Europe or Asia if he felt that country wasn't paying
enough for its own defense.

8) Trump would gut the US Civil Service, deploy the
National Guard to American cities as he sees fit. Close the
White House Pandemic Preparedness Office, and staff his
administration only with followers who backed his false
assertion that the 2020 election was stolen.

Trump felt that in his last term he was "too nice." This
time he feels more confident and stronger. he is not afraid
to say - "You're fired."

"what Trump would do if elected as President for a second term."

Foxy, I've already said I support him. You don't need to provide additional reasons. Indeed they're not really additional reasons. Most of the things you list are the reasons a majority of US citizens are supporting him.

"Breaking with a tradition of independent law enforcement that dates from America's founding."

If you think that what's been going on in the Obama and Biden administrations are examples of an independent judiciary, then you're even more clueless than I thought... or thought possible.

But why do you feel it necessary to continue

means. But, lose the attacks. It's

Lets look at the facts of you as an "astute observer."

You support for US president a man who denies the
results of the 2020 election. Who egged on an
insurrection in January 6th. A man who is unstable
and unpredictable, and yet you think nothing of placing
the US presidency in his hands a second time.

Even the fact that the man's been found civily liable
for sexual abuse and defamation and the fact that he
and his organization has been found guilty of business
and tax fraud in New York City apparently none of this
matters to you as an "astute observer."

What does all of this really say about you?

"To be physically astute and psychologically tended,
yet morally insulated and conceptually blind - is to
be crazy, not healthy."

(Michael Ventura).

I'm done.

Foxy,

"Who egged on an insurrection in January 6th. "

There was no insurrection and he didn't egg it on anyway.

"A man who is unstable and unpredictable,"

These are you opinions, not facts. Although I do have to admit that you don't really seem to know the difference.

"his organization has been found guilty of business and tax fraud in New York City apparently none of this matters to you as an "astute observer."

There's been no finding of tax fraud. Why do you feel the need to make this stuff up? As to the fraud case, as an astute observer I realise that this was a political show trial, not a trial based on actual facts. (NB: its been reported today that there may have been jury misconduct in the trial - not a surprise given that the show trial ensured that all the jurors were anti-Trump from the outset.)

You say its wrong to support someone who has been found guilty in court. Mandela was found guilty in court. Do you think those who supported him becoming president of South Africa were "crazy, not healthy.". Havel likewise. Were his supporters "crazy, not healthy."
Navalny?

Don't fret, I know that's too complex for you to answer.

mhaze,

When you familiarize yourself with the facts involved
only then - you shall be able to join in discussions
as an "astute observer."

I suggest you do that before you post.

Familiarize yourself with The House Jan 6th Committee's
Final Report on the insurrection that asserts Trump "Lit
the Fire."

Familiarize yourself with the fines of $1.6 million and
the conviction of 17 counts of tax fraud.

Familiarize yourself with the White South African government
that sentenced Mandela to life imprisonment in 1964 for
daring to oppose the apartheid regime in his country.

Familiarize yourself with Alexei Navalny and what happened
to him and why.

You may just begin to realize that comparisons of the US Justice
System with
either those of Apartheid South Africa or the Soviet Authority is absurd.

The United States Bill of Rights stands in protection of the
individual against the power of the state. The US Constitution
guarantees the individual certain fundamental rights and
protections. US laws are based on the principle that the law
serves the individual, not the state, and that state political
interests cannot outweigh the interests of the
individual, who must stand in law as a free man.

In contrast, V.I. Lenin made it clear that, in his political
philosophy, the law has but one primary goal: "A law is a
political measure. It is politics."

No Soviet authority or communist leader has abandoned this
concept.

Comparing Either South Africa or the Soviet justice system to
the US and the charges against Trump really questions your
self-proclaimed
"astute observer," status.

If you want to be taken seriously - familiarize yourself
with the facts first. Or subsequently you shall be ignored.

Foxy, who by my count has made 23 outright errors of fact in this thread alone, tells me to familiarise myself with the facts. Well you've got to admire her chutzpah, if not her integrity.

But like a good slave to the establishment, she simply believes whatever the establishment tells her. To poor deluded Foxy, the J6 committees report is completely unbiased and factual. Of course she believes that...she always falls for this type of stuff. (Hint: she also believed the Mueller report with equal credulity until that became untenable, whereupon she pretended to know nothing about it). She of course has no understanding (or desire to understand) how compromised the J6 committee was - how all nine committee members had reached the conclusion before the investigations (well Foxy does that all the time so she's down with that process). How the J6 committee refused to allow 'unhelpful' witnesses speak. How the J6 committee knew their conclusions didn't stand up and destroyed much of the evidence so they couldn't be cross-checked. But Foxy believes it all - of course she does.

And, being a slave to the establishment, Foxy believes it when she's told the US judicial system is beyond reproach - that everyone is equal and all judicial decisions are totally valid. Of course, that type of thinking is difficult to maintain when you know the Clinton campaign was found guilty of the exact same thing as Trump and received a slap on the wrist whereas Trump faces gaol. Solution? Pretend to not know about the Clinton case.

Foxy always believes the courts are totally above reproach when they reach conclusions she likes and totally wrong when they don't. See Pell.

23 errors of fact...and she thinks she's familiar with the facts. Oh dear!

" No doubt mhaze believes this Bannon grub to be totally innocent, "

No no No. Bannon isn't innocent. He's very guilty. Guilty of being a threat to the Biden regime. In the same way as Navalny was a threat to the Putin regime.

Amber Rose (no I'd never heard of her either - but she's BIPOC and a women in the sense of born with a vagina not a women as in someone with a penis who wears dresses), BIPOC and female (so can't be criticised) has said she's now voting Trump.

The reporter asks why she and so many other blacks are changing sides to Trump.

Answer: "I think we just did our research, and we’re not brainwashed anymore by the left. I can say that about myself. All these years, I’ve been brainwashed, and I’m not anymore. So."

Any chance our resident Trump Derangement Syndrome suffers will stop being brainwashed. Seems unlikely.

Hi Paul,

Some people blatantly support politicians and leaders
who make false statements. Studies have found that
people do this in some cases - knowingly because it
aligns with their personal beliefs. We've had the
case of Pauline Hanson in this country and now -
Donald Trump in the US.

Donald Trump since childhood has been taught winning
matters - and do whatever it takes to win.

We need voters who think for themselves. That's why
objective evidence is so very important. That's the
only way leaders can be held to account.

Holding leaders to standards that align with
democratic values and norms is the key to fighting
political misinformation.

Some people are comfortable articulating statements they
know are not based on fact because it suits their
political agenda. We had multiple examples with the
Voice Referendum in this country. We now witness the
Trump fiasco in the US.

Misinformation gets out and will continue to get out
because voters condone it.

In this country, people of conscience need to fight it
with every fibre of their bodies.

There's little hope for those with buckets stuck to their
heads. In any case - thankfully, in this country, they are
a minority.

Hi Paul,

Trump needed to have his crimes exposed through the
rule of law. Americans now need to see him face
prosecution on numerous fronts. They need to see
the evidence of it and see him face judgement and
conviction for his actions.

If that doesn't happen - it will remove faith in
the rule of law and this will not bode well for
the US. Americans need to know that even men as
powerful and influential as Trump will be made to
pay if they break the law.

Anything less will show that the justice system in
the US is beyond repair.

July 11th - is an important date. We shall have to
wait and see what the ruling will be.

Foxy continues to prove she's determined to remain brainwashed (see above). Paul of course avoids such problems because to be brainwashed you first need a...well I'll let you finish that thought.

Part of Foxy's problem, and she's got a few, is that she shoots her mouth off without thought or knowledge and, when presented with the facts, feels the need to double-down on her ignorance. His skin is the color of an orangutan's rump
He has lots of money, but none for the poor
He'd rather be spending your cash in a war

Women don't like him, he's a bit of a twit

For reasons beyond me, he wants a big wall
To keep out our neighbors its 30 feet tall

Donald, oh, Donald, whatever went wrong?
This world would be better if we all got along
Instead of dividing, please bring us together
The world is a small place, that won't last forever.
