We've been having family discussions on what
our former Premier Dan Andrews is going to
do next.

Not immediately of course, he deserves to play golf
for a while. However, I'm predicting that eventually
he could be offered the Consul-General's position
in New York if he wants it.

It would do him and his family the world of good to
get out of town for a while. He'd be great at the job.

Victoria is lucky
It's pollies are great
Thanks to Dan Andrews
It's now in great shape

The Liberals are eyeing
Their future they claim
Belongs to them now
And they're eager to blame

A man who's now gone
Ran the state with great ease
Who did what he saw
Instead of aiming to please

The game will be played
Now anything goes
With a man from Calabria
Aware of his foes

His party wants victory
In this well run state
But Victorians want someone who'll lead
They don't need a mate.

"I am concerned about the debt levels but unlike Morrison government there has been huge infrastructure projects which will serve this state well into the future."

Are they all those regional projects for Commonwealth Games? Oh wait....!
Still, the Games did their job. How many votes did the false promise of the games elicit...and it only cost $300 million or so...a bargain.

"Peaceful protestors? They largely were up until the end when attacks on police started including the throwing of batteries and full cans."
Yep, some people don't react well to the state enforcers using their monopoly on firearms to suppress opinion....go figure.

"And you really couldn't help yourself with the Gestapo jibe either."
Agreed... it was rather graphic but, in my view, the police firing on protestors in order to suppress opinion the government doesn't approve of, is a turning point...and in an extremely bad way.

"Those outside our state can just live with it."
No, those outside Victoria have to just ensure they don't elect extremists who are prepared to use the apparatus of the state to suppress disagreeable views.

post-truth mhaze,

You write:

There is a commitment to build all of the games legacy projects.

As for infrastructure spending Victoria has been hard at it: http://bigbuild.vic.gov.au/projects

And continues to eclipse every other state by a large margin with 22.7% of the 2022-23 budget on infrastructure spending.

The Covid protestors moved through the streets of Melbourne ending up at the Shrine at 1pm. They were given plenty of time to have their say and make their point until they were ordered to leave at 4pm, a full three hours after arriving.

95% of them did so peacefully but a hard core remained who were intent on confronting police. So no, this wasn't an issue of "supressing opinion". Only our cookers would think otherwise.

SR still trying very hard to not say that the Andrew's government's police force fired on protestors.

Fired on protestors.....in Australia.

In any other circumstances the likes of SR would be outraged and calling for heads to roll. But the ALP uber alles attitude trumps all.

mhaze,

Did you mention your man Trump in your last comment, you know the guy who was responsible for the deaths of a million Americans during Covid, with his advice of "drink diso, you'll be fine!" so said the Dangerous Doctor Donald! Were you cheering from the sidelines when The Proud Boys stormed the Capital building in Washington, causing death and destruction?
