" Daniel Andrews leaves office with the latest poll
indicating a commanding two-party lead for Labor of 56.5 - 43.5 - an increase on the 55 - 45 lead at the last election." "Unsurprisingly, Andrews has done it in his own time and on his own terms - a feature of his premiership. Not for him the wishy washy, let's try to please everybody starting with the media approach. He knew - as all progressive politicians would do well to note - there is no pleasing Australia's rabid media cabal." Posted by Foxy, Friday, 29 September 2023 9:29:32 AM

Dear Foxy,
I think he did a great job during Covid. He fronted up every morning without fail to take every question the press asked of him. He didn't shirk one bit. And the rightwing Murdoch press hated him for it. The pack hunts best when the prey is on the run and Andrews just never turned. I am concerned about the debt levels but unlike Morrison government there has been huge infrastructure projects which will serve this state well into the future. I do think the Labor party needs a term in opposition soon to smarten up but without a credible alternative that is going to be a difficult ask. Post-truth mhaze,
Chairman Dan? How Murdoch of you. Peaceful protestors? They largely were up until the end when attacks on police started including the throwing of batteries and full cans. I know an officer who was there arresting agitators who had his partner receive a head injury from a thrown object. It required a stay in hospital. And you really couldn't help yourself with the Gestapo jibe either. Bloody hell, you really are ticking all the boxes for a full RWNJ classification aren't you. Can you look back and identify the turning point for you? I mean we use to have willing discussions but I was never dealing with this level of indoctrination. Been quite a slide. Anyway back to Andrews. We here in Victoria decided he had been doing a good job with the interests of Victorians at heart. That is why he got back in with a record majority in the last election. Those outside our state can just live with it. Posted by SteeleRedux, Friday, 29 September 2023 10:36:14 AM

Dear Steele,
I agree with your take on Andrews. Victoria has done well during COVID - and hopefully as you point out shall benefit from the infrastructure projects that Andrews put in place. What happens next we'll have to wait and see. But a high standard has been set - which hopefully will continue no matter who's in government. The Liberal Party in Victoria does have its work cut out for it to at least try to match the standard set by Andrews. Victorians won't settle for anything less. The awful creature went out on a lie: he had said that he would serve a full term. Communists China' s need for him must have become urgent.
The worst premier ever; described by one commentator as the "thug's thug".
