I see Paul has claimed the Earth is the hottest it has ever been recorded, yes in 100 years. It has risen 1.5 degrees, and the temperature is still climbing out of a recent ice age.

"And very often scare tactics are used to try to stop
action." Or in this case, scare tactics are used to try to enforce action. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 30 July 2023 2:06:05 PM

Dear Paul,
"Observations from both satellites and the earth's surface are indisputable. The planet has warmed rapidly over the past 44 years. In recent days the earth has reached its highest average temperature in recorded history. Scientists claim it may well be warmer than at any time in the last 125,000 years." http://washingtonpost.com/weather/2023/07/08/earth-hottest-years-thousands-climate/ Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 30 July 2023 2:07:58 PM

mhaze,
Nah. Scientists use facts not scare tactics like the status quo and fossil fuel industries. As the staff at CSIRO can confirm. I know, I was one of them. Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 30 July 2023 2:12:22 PM

Foxy, you're confusing scientist with activists.
"Scientists claim it may well be warmer than at any time in the last 125,000 years." I wonder what the temperature was on 30 July 12023BC? So if I show you scientists who have found that the temperature was warmer than now for 25% of the past 12000, would that mean there was no consensus. Or are those scientists just going to be labelled deniers. "Observations from both satellites and the earth's surface are indisputable." Indisputable but no beyond misrepresentation. Satellite data shows that temperatures have exceed current temperatures quite often since 1979. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 30 July 2023 2:45:35 PM

upon as a threat to the status quo.
And very often scare tactics are used to try to stop
action.
We've all heard the arguments from the climate deniers.
The fossil-fuel narratives - that fossil fuels have
provided wealth and a higher quality of life and that
banning fossil fuels will only drive "humanity
back to medieval times."
All this polarizes the public and then that makes it harder
to get consensus and progress.
We should not be supporting any effort to postpone or
halt ambitious climate action and protect business as
usual. Ethics should over-ride short term economics.
