"With a Nuky little Israel so anxious to fire the first shot,"
If any country was anxious about firing the first shot - it would not be Israel. There is difference between being a Nuclear state and wanting to wipe a nation off the map. An omission here is equal to a lie. "knowing that America has given her the okay," America did not assist Israel with her Nuclear program, and was totally against it. France did assist. America got her nuclear abilities from jewish know-how, and she should rightly be grateful to them. Omissions will get you nowhere. "does mean that without all-out war over jealousy of Iran," Is Israel jealous of a state boasting Nazi aspiratuoins, or is there also an existential issue here? Why is Israel not jealous of France, UK, Russia and US? Omissions galore here. "the only future for the Middle-East without an all powerful decent democratic United Nations, will be not much different to what it is right now." What took so long to decide, and why the deflection with Israel? "Maybe except for a neo-colonialist Pax Americana" Last time I checked the map, a host of other country's lands were being demanded, in India, China, Indonesia, Israel, and even demanding Shariah law in Europe & Australia. And all those nations predate the Arab race. Yet America is called pax. Omissions? "determined to stick in the Green Zone, still lying to the world public that her oil billionares are not after the last best of the world's oil." It was America which built the oil facilities in Arabia, and it is only recently the other nations can pay for oil: Arab wealth was made possible by America. But since the regime states are illegal, carved by Briton on corrupt, non-historical borders - oil is a natural asset of mother earth, and there is nothing wrong in securing oil on commercial terms - its like water. Far worse is when non-muslims are denied their place in the Middle-east, than targeting America. Posted by IamJoseph, Tuesday, 26 August 2008 7:20:16 PM

bushbred,
Since you are so concerned with the balance of power, here are two articles on the maintenance of the same: http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1014074.html http://www.alarabiya.net/views/2008/08/26/55498.html Syria is trying to play games well above its weight division, especially now that Moscow has reason to be concerned not to antagonize Israel (which would immediately provide Georgia with Merkava IV's, which Georgia already wants). PS How is it that if the balance of powers is so skewed that Israel has finalised peace-treaties with Egypt & Jordan? Posted by Haganah Bet, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 6:21:47 AM

As long as Hamas believes all of Israel is an 'Islamic Waqf'
There will never be peace. As long as the west views such theological ideas through 'secular' eye glasses... they will never understand WHY peace is not acheivable. The tragedy of the west is it's lack of understanding of historical Islam and the faith itself. They 'project' ideas of 'tolerance and diversity' onto people who's biological and theological roots go back 1000s of years... They.. just don't 'get it' They might benefit greatly by reading Genesis to Kings and put away their 'Political Correctness/Human Rights 101' comics. Such a well balanced and sensible article.
But as so often happens with Online articles few commentators appear to have absorbed the contents of the original. So, instead of pursuing the issues raised in the article posters such as Bushbred completely spoil the thread. Posted by Seneca, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 12:58:35 PM

Haganah Bet and Coy, our well-founded studies tell us, we are ready to argue much much more.
But just right now personally, I am about to begin Ron Susskind's latest book called The Way of the World (A Story of Truth and Hope in an Age of Extremism) Might even make me change my mind about things? however< Haganah Bet< must point out that two of the nations you refer to< egypt and jordan< who have agreed with israel< happen to be under the wings of the US of A> Might also point out< that Mubarek of Egypt when cornered by a UK reporter< did admit that the real problem for years in the Middle East has been Western intrusion and injustice> Posted by bushbred, Wednesday, 27 August 2008 4:07:26 PM

Maybe except for a neo-colonialist Pax Americana determined to stick in the Green Zone, still lying to the world public that her oil billionares are not after the last best of the world's oil.
Have a Nice Day?
