The outpouring of sorrow at his passing is growing by the hour.

Grham - thank you. Point taken.

Celivia - no, I did not try for any tickets. I figure that young children should have first priority. Some of the behaviours of adults seeking tickets for their kids has been apalling here on the Sunshine Coast.

It's disgusting that some people gained free tickets and are now selling them on E_Bay. God, what next?

I sincerely bleed for Terri, family and close friends who have to endure such disgusting and immoral behaviours. Even so, I think that thankfully, most people are genuine in their wishes and bereavement for Steve.

Cheers
Kay

Celivia..Im sorry too...I,ve maybe just not been around you enough to appreciate the different nuances of ur personality...It kind of came out of left field a bit and I couldnt connect it to anything other than our previuos minor disagreement.Humour is great and a should be encouraged.
Enough said and time to get on.

No I didnt get any tickets to Steve Irwins funeral...live way too far away but I think it should have fairly extensive coverage on TV and although its not the same most of Aus. will be there via that particular medium..

Scout...no hard feelings I hope.

(apologies to GrahamY - but just want to clear up my misunderstanding).

I didn't realise you were being tongue in cheek because when you first started posting on OLO, you assumed I was male because you thought my posts were so 'inherently logical' - http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?article=4653#50485

BTW - Being intelligent doesn't make one lose one's 'feminity'. Those comments were unnecessary or where you being 'tongue in cheek' yet again?

I haven't participated in the 'dissing men' thread because I am fed up to the back teeth with abuse of either sex.

Scout...yes your completely right..but I am a complex character..I do believe that women should have their rights respected, not a feminist position, just commonsense. Then I also believe the same for men..we should learn to accept that we are different and thats a good thing..I dont want equal rights with men..and men dont want equal rights to women...Women are powerful in their own way as men are powerful in theirs..ying and yang.Men and women complement each other..mother nature intended it that way..

Yes I thought you were male..but then you are a far more logical(I believe) than most females out there..most gals are ruled by their heart..to some degree. This balances out the logical less softer side of men..there are always exceptions to every rule though.

I feel the feminist movement has harmed men and created a divide that hurts all of us.
Commonsense is needed..like you I am fed up with it all.

I feel deeply disturbed when I see men bowing and scraping to hardline women, emasculating themselves and selling out there own sex in order to appease dominant females..its not right and vice versa for women...

Im sorry to Graham Y..but this needed to be cleared up..thank you for understanding.

Cevilia and co.

I think we seem to have some kind of misunderstanding here. I dont recall addressing any of my comments to yourself or others. In fact if I recall correctly my comments were directly addressed to PTBI. It would appear since then I have been branded as childish and / or racist. I am sorry that my comments have come across this way to people who visit this thread frequently enough to care. It's not about good old country bashing, or racial slurs. It is about pointing out to PBTI that before you sit there critising my country, and the country you are using to get a better educaiton, look at your own country first.

If people on here actually bothered to look at the history of comments from PTBI, they would notice that 90% of these comments are nothing more than condensending insults to Australia. One can ignore these and be the "better man" or one can refute these. I chose option B and I will never have an ounce of regret for defending my country, be it in an online forum or in a real life debate, etc. It is a shame that this debate had to start in a forum that was intially designed to commemerate Steve. The whole debate began by defending Steve ironically enough.

I for one will not tolerate idiots that use this country for a better education or other infrastructure / standard of living purposes, yet insult it left right and centre with an obvious racially motivated hatred. I never once made a negative reference to mulisms, or indonesians that would imply any hatred to these people. I merely pointed out facts about the country and culture that were used to proove a point. I have been to indonesia many more times than people in this forum, I am half malaysian / indian half australian, so my mother is malaysian which is about as close to indonesian as you can get...

contd...

So for me to be racist towards indoneisans would be much the same as having racial hatred for my own mother and her family back in Malaysia. Being mixed myself, I don't pre-judge people based on race, skin colour or culture. I do however judge people based on how they respect others and how they treat others. I also judge people based on there attitude towards others, which was half the reason why I even started debating with PTBI, because of his attitude towards Australians and Steve Irwin.

Now graceal0ne's comments, which I assume were directly aimed towards me are incredibly misguided. When the Tsunami disaster hit indonesia I was happy to donate money and do whatever I could. In fact I felt more of a emotional sadness towards their suffereing than most, having family in that region. So before coming to prejudice conclusions about the moral fibre of someone based on a couple of posts, I suggest people talk to that person first or read all of their posts and take them in their intended context. It seems that some comments about me have been taken from my posts if one were to read them OUT of context.

None of my comments about indonesians are hatred filled. I understand the culture alot better than anyone on this forum is likely to, except PTBI himself. I have absolutely nothing against indonesians, though some of their cultural values are not to my likeing. I also have alot of indo friends who are lovely people.

Once again I am sorry that people have taken this to heart, to the extent that I have been braded racist. I dont apologise for defending Australia be it on this forum / thread or any other. If people look at the other Steve Irwin forum, then you can see 3 posts I have written in commemeration of the great man. It was never my intention to use this forum and his passing as a platform to promote my supposed racial filled hatred for Indonesia.
