To love Indonesia, the country, is not the same as to deny the existence of corruption and human rights violations.

Congratulations Roger on your timely article. All Corby supporters should unite to give a political voice to pressure Indonesia to accord her normal judicial rights. There are many reasons why she should not be in jail. You find many of these reasons at http://www.myaustralia.ws/saveschapelle . join us in her fight for justice.
Thanks
Nev

Just when I thought it was time again for me to post something usefull .... out trots the wa*k#r after w*K#r like our little javanese cretin with all his hyperbole of "we are right - you are wrong ... we are good - you are evil...."

But fortunately Kvasir was so right when he said .... "in truth the contradictions are inbuilt - it's just a matter of time...

Just wondering how long it will be before that brainless pit-bull cocky spaniel lap dog will savage you with invective on just how bad you treat all the Aboriginals and to get out of Australia....

Oh well down to the local supermarket to buy some bandages - and some disinfectant - who knows the teeh may well have borrowed from some Komodo Dragon this time

It is a fact Indonesia is the most corrupt country with some of the worst human rights abuse in the world. It is a fact the police and judiciary work together for extortion money and jail innocent foreigners (I am not saying SC is innocent - I would just say the police investigation and trial were both so seriously flawed that in any respectable responsible country the thing would never have gone to trial and if it did as it did, the judgment would be overturned). As for ML, I think Australians should be proud of her and look at John Howard to vent their XXX inspired rages; after all he has sold out on Australian principles, decency and legal obligations IMHO.

Indonesia was born from hate against the west; Sukarno was an axis leader after all and his only claim to West Papua is that it was a Dutch colony. Even their armed forces are internationally known as a repressionist force, not a military one (they have lost every true military battle they have ever been involved in). The state of Indonesia may likely even be illegal as territories (islands) outside Java and Sumatra were separate before Dutch rule and it was the anti-colonial US government (with puppets Britain’s help of course) that pushed the UN into railroading both the formation of Indonesia to include islands like Bali, when they should not, and also convinced (blackmailed) the Dutch into passing control of West Papua to Jakarta (in exchange for Jakarta's promise to hold a free and fair referendum there, which they reneged on). If you love Indonesia / Indonesians (not those with the hate in their hearts), help them to make change, help yourselves to avoid the hate that exists from the top down, don't just boycott Indonesia, boycott anything and everything Indonesian including Freeport, Rio Tinto, BP and BHP-Billiton.

Stop supporting Indonesia through blind ignorance, self-interest and John Howard’s games. Wake up Australia; if it were not for the Papuans, the Japanese would have landed on your soil. Is this how you reward your friends?

@Kvasir:

"Let me tell you what I think of Indonesia"

LOL, just a reminder a clown is not supposed to think.

Indeed Indonesia is much superior than USSR, comparing a mighty and pure Pancasilaist country like Indonesia to a failed communist state USSR is hilarious. USSR is based on failed system communism, while Indonesia is the only country in the world which annihilated Soviet and Chinese-backed communists to its roots in 1965, another addition to our glorious laurels. USSR is based on an inferior federal system which promoted ethnic-distinction and hatred, while Indonesia is a much superior Pancasilaist unitary state fully supported by the people.

No wonder, Indonesia successfully modified her system of democratic government six times since independence without much problems (the last modification is in 1998). This is because Indonesia is a purely-conceived nation formed according to the will of its people.

"He seems to be paranoid that Australia has some secret hand in all this"

LOL, mighty Indonesia has nothing to fear from Australia as a lion has nothing to fear from a swine.

@plantagenet:

"While Corby is doing 20 years for smuggling pot into Bali where it is sold openly on the streets"

Interesting statement, I think you confuse the "streets of Bali" with "the streets of Sydney". I challenge you to sell pot openly in the streets of Bali. I hope you'll enjoy Balinese jail accommodation courtesy of Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.

BTW, Indonesia is a country of law (rechtstaat) not a country of power (machtstaat). We cannot put people to jail without evidence or just because of some minor neighbour's mood swings.

@ Nev@sk & Bali BS:

LOL, you druggies may rant and rave your mind out, but we don't care. Corby the drug smuggler will stay in jail. Deal with it :-)

I personally disagree with Corby's sentence which is too soft. She actually had it easy thanks to her crybaby attitude, had Corby been one of the many African drug dealers trying to smuggle narcotics to our country, it is guaranteed she'll receive the death sentence.

I am for Indonesia to implement a mandatory death sentence for all drug smugglers as practised by neighbour Singapore.

PTBI, you say a clown isn't supposed to think...well, why do you attempt to think? You don't do a very good job of it.

Everybody knows that the USSR was a fake federation - but in practice was the most extreme example of a unitary state you'll ever see. It promoted Russian supremacy, just like the Javanese supremacy in the Former Dutch East Indies today.

Your ravings about the glorious laurels of the mighty, pure, superior pancasilaist state sounds like insane fascism. Pancasila is nothing more than a few feeble bromides cobbled together - not to mention discriminatory against polytheists like Balinese Hindus or Chinese. It is just as feeble and fake as Bahasa Indonesia, a mere traders' pidgin or patois that has been laughably elevated to national langugage status.

This imperialist entity is also guilty of attempted genocide - the vicious tinpot military dictator Suharto was the mastermind of the 1965 slaughter of millions of Chinese residing in the Former Dutch East Indies, purportedly to eradicate the Communist Party of Indonesia. Even in May 1998 there was a vicious anti-Chinese pogrom in Jakarta. I look forward to the day soon when China has the military muscle and will to "deal" with Indonesia when it tries to persecute Chinese again.
