Maclen and Cricket, to weigh into this debate, I truly believe that NK, and the people who are reponsible for employing her, all appear to be suffering from some type of delusion. An hallucinatory idea that she can act. A fantasy that she can 'get into the skin' of the characters she is meant to portray. She is totally unable to do that, even when adopting false noses, black wigs and feverish smoking habits. She is unable to 'feel' compassion or love for anyone apart from herself(not even for her two kids), so how can anyone expect her to be able to feel those emotions, and even stronger ones, for a character in a film? Nicole Kidman is an hallucination. She is like a mirage in a desert. Something people flock to but find on arrival, is actually non-existent. She's such a faker that she's even fooled herself. When asked in an interview last night what Daniel Craig was like, she simpered in a silly way and said "He's a good egg." Gaining little response from reporters, she repeated it. Then tried to explain in detail, what a 'good egg' means. Then she laughed and laughed at herself, leaving a bewildered bevy of journalists with mouths agape. Trying be funny or witty or clever just doesn't work with Nicole because she isn't. And she can't even 'act' it. Pitiful really.

It is called Signature Acting. A stiff upper lip is what you are describing and is actually one of her most famous signatures .
In person, she is the opposite of what she portrays on film.If you had met her on a one to one basis, I am sure your experience with her would have left you with a great deal warmth for Nicole, as I and others have known her.
You may have felt hurt or felt she passed you by as an ice queen as you descibe her, but she was in character. Many people in crews have. An artist can not be turned off and on like a light switch because crew members want to be friends with an actor. Remember she too was working when you were on set doing whatever you do.
Many actors cannot take time to be side tracked by crew wanting to warm up to them.Cheryl Ladd gave my extras a 10 minute meet and great whirl wind while we were on break. I have been on many sets and my intuition at first was to leave them alone and not even look at them as they passed by.
All that is left for the wrap-party. Even then actors will only put in a 10-20 minute showing and have to leave. Much like Tony Curtis. It is not personal. It's a job.get over it. It has nothing to do with you.

You make some very good points there, Morgan. It is one of the biggest handicaps she has as a public person. You are so right, she is so painfully awkward, and inarticulate. Your description of her interview here reminds me of when she was given her oscar. Do you remember earlier that night, Adrian Brody won for best actor, presented to him by Halle Berry, and when he ran on stage, he grabbed Berry and kissed her on the lips and wouldn't let her go? Very funny, and original... well later when kidman won she walked up on stage and she was met by Denzel Washington, Kidman tried to kiss him on the lips, just like Brody had, but Denzel stepped away and just led her to the podium, where she then stood a few feet away from the podium, with her back to the audience, holding the oscar to her cheek? Trying to "act " in a real situation. It really was so blatantly phoney.

The one thing I remember more clearly than anything else on that Oscar night was that her children were seated in the row BEHIND her. What message does that convey? ANYbody else would sit next to their kids.
T.I.T. it's best you stop making things up about your comic- cuts experience on film sets and mixing with 'stars'. Your idea of what it's like on a film set is so far from the truth you sound ridiculous.

She has no character or personality of her own.If she doesn't have a script in front of her she sounds like a total idiot when she speaks. And her horrible fake breathy voice makes me just want to smack her anytime I hear it.She got all flustered and disoriented at the premire of Happy Feet when a reporter asked her how Keith was doing. She probably had no idea how he was since he wasn't around to provide photo-ops for her she's forgotten all about him.If they really wanted to throw her they should have asked her how her kids were.Or better yet asked her when their birthdays are I bet she has no idea. She would have had to call Tom and ask him.

RESPONSE TO MORGAN.
I am not in the film industry. My experience with what I call "Brand Name " people is strictly from my parents involvement in film and fashion. I just happen to be there. It is waht I grew up with and what I know. It does not impress me,( but highly irritates you ).
The company my parents keep and have done so since the early 1950's through today and spill into my home are just friends. I am a teacher and part-time short documentary film maker as well as a designer with my own line, much of which my "Star " people purchase from me and that keeps me in a failry nice life. I work. They work. What yopu do other than complain is beyond me. You sound shallow, selfish and quite petty.
