Importing a Tasmania’s worth of people every year : Comments

By Graham Young, published 11/9/2025

Pause the intake until housing, infrastructure and services catch up. That’s not xenophobia - it’s common sense.

#… But it is also sheer evil to forcibly stop people from coming on their own initiative…#

Why, and on what grounds do you base this strange opinion?
, which is contrary to the logic of your own argument against mass immigration.

Dear Dan,

Just because we don't like something does not make it right to use violence and hurt others in order to prevent it. This earth was created by God, it is not man-made, so it does not belong to any particular person or group of people and everyone should be allowed to travel and live wherever they want on its face.

People may not be entitled to join our society and receive its protection, they may not be welcomed, but physically arresting them and kicking them out is violent and as such is simply not on (except in cases of self-defence, such as when they are reasonably expected to commit crimes, terror or bring in contagious diseases).

There is an official entry document called a Visa for the people you describe.
That innovation is achieved by being honest with the questions on its application form: But alas they now lack legitimacy in Australia, under the rule of the Dictatorship, and it’s inherent dishonesty and with its love affair with Islamic terrorists and other organisations of International crime; particularly the Palestinians stand-out at this time, but not confined to them.

People are generally free to wander around with a tourist Visa in most civilised Countries, but alas Australia has become less civilised due to mass immigration of the wrong criminal by nature cohort.

All power has moved to the top, shame on them!
diver dan,
Yes, although not the political top. The real powers are in the Public Service top as can be deduced from the similarity in decision & policy disasters in each Government.
Minister Burke should be made to explain via 60 Minutes what percentage of the bureaucracy in his Department are Australian born & of which ethnic background. Just a moment ago I heard Albanese commenting on so-called Islamophobia & how it could be dealt with. I'd like to ask him if he ever considered the ultimate & openly declared goal of Islam to take over this Nation does in fact fuel the misnamed phobia ? He talks about Australians to be more accepting towards these migrants however, he fails to suggest to these migrants to also be more accepting of Australians as a society & not just as a mob to provide them with the means to achieve their goal !

Dear Dan,

A visa is a contract between an individual and a state.
It grants the visa-holder certain minimal protections,
so for example if s/he gets run-over by a car, they will be taken to hospital and treated,
or if lost in the mountains, a search team will be looking for them,
or if robbed clean, they can call the police for help and also use the court system for compensation,
or if they book a hotel and find it full when they arrive, then they will be entitled for an alternative room and/or financial compensation,
or if they purchase a property then it will be officially registered in their name,
etc.

However, no contract should be required if a migrant is not seeking any such protections;
and no contract should be offered either to persons who are unwelcome in a country, whatever be the reason(s).

Nevertheless, people should still be able to arrive without protections, and allowed in assuming they are cleared of any reasonable suspicion of criminality, terrorism or contagious illness.

Mind you, suppose you stab or punch such an unprotected person in the face for no reason, then it would be reasonable to charge you with the lesser crime of cruelty to animals, as per the RSPCA standards: even unprotected humans should be treated at least as well as animals (they too have no visa!).
