Security Council rebuffs Guterres bid to fix his Gaza mistakes : Comments

By David Singer, published 12/12/2023

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has failed in his bid to get the Security Council to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza that would have helped paper over some appalling decisions by Guterres both before and after October 7.

Dear Delivery,

I have no obligation to relate to everything that happens to be in an article - there is nothing wrong about concentrating on just one or two aspects thereof, in my case, this "HKOPS". I was responding to Syoksya when you started interfering and rudely diverting our discussion just because you like to talk about nothing but your Gaza and cannot accept it when others are talking about other things.

Dear Indyvidual,

«Ok, then where did these Israelites they mention in the Bible hang out ?»

The Assyrians had a policy of forced assimilation.
When they exiled the whole ancient kingdom of Israel, following its rebellion, they sent each Israeli man to a different village throughout their empire, where they had to live with similarly-dispersed individuals from all over the empire. Within one generation, their children didn't know where they came from and recognised themselves only as "Assyrian".

The small kingdom of Judea (of which Jews descend and is not truly related to the Israelites to its north), remained loyally subordinate to Assyria and so it survived longer, until eventually exiled by Babylon, their identity saved only by the rise of Persia 58 years later, which took over Babylon and allowed their few elders to return.

«As far as I know all former Christian etc adversaries have managed to sort out their differences, how come Islamic groups haven’t»

But they have not. Christians continued to war among themselves for centuries, including between Catholicism and Protestantism.
Islam started as yet another Christian sect which refused to believe in the Trinity.
