Coalition’s latest failure to ‘fix’ the ABC : Comments

By Scott Prasser, published 30/11/2021

The proposed Senate inquiry was questionable because it indicated a lack of trust by the Coalition parties in the ABC’s process.

Why is it the Coalitions "failure" to fix the ABC. I'd have though it's the Left orientated ABC management & doctrine that is the failure.
Lefties jump up & down bleating waste of tax Dollars when a Coalition held electorate receives funding but they keep perfectly silent when over a Billion goes towards their advertising company !
Talk about hypocrisy !

The ABC is demonstrably biased. What is worse is that the only review of their content is done by a self-appointed panel of ABC groupies.

The first step to normalising the ABC would be to put together a real independent media watch to review their non-compliance with their charter.

TBH, it is dreamland stuff that the ABC will ever return to being an unbiased media source.

Politics long ago was less divisive.

Now there are bigger policy cleavages. The coalition is increasingly unwilling to tolerate criticism of its own tendency to adopt harsher policy stances when compared to the other side. The ABC is also more of a feelgood entity supporting more dreamy (can do) policy stances and gravitating to that audience.

Today there is much less need for the ABC, and it should be more willing to fund itself to a greater extent. Perhaps then it will find a more balanced approach, as I suggest is evident more in the US where public media has little govt assistance.

Dear Hasbeen,

I hope you didn't spill your porridge.

What you neglected to do of course was to name a single news organisation in this country of note which is less bias than the ABC. Unsurprising of course because there isn't one. But why don't you at least give it a try. Generally if you claim something you really do need to be able to back it up.

Dear individual,

There have been a conga line of right and hard right clowns through the board ranks for ages and the current Chair has raised considerable money for the Liberal Party. What more do you want?

Dear Chris Lewis,

Can you please demonstrate any recent or otherwise overt bias by the ABC?

Shadowminister,

Go and deal with your fixation on micropenises, something with deeply disturbing connotations. Come back and contribute when you have dealt with it.

SR, hard to demonstrate.

More in its tone.

Global warming is an issue where the ABC hardly accommodates reasons why it is hard to achieve real greenhouse reductions whether here or overseas.

I don't think the ABC is any worse than other media sources. In fact, I mostly rely on it and prefer it.

SR, I do my own research to try and better understand an issue.

Hence, I do not rely on any media source.
