By Scott Prasser, published 30/11/2021

The proposed Senate inquiry was questionable because it indicated a lack of trust by the Coalition parties in the ABC’s process.

I can't believe that the ABC has got away with an "independent" review panel made up of ABC insiders. If anyone else tried to pull that stunt they would be laughed out of the park.

It is far beyond the time that the ABC should be held to the principles of their charter.

All of my adult life there have been politicians submitting one proposal or another to reform the ABC and make it conform to it's founding charter. That chartr was for the ABC to provide the public with UNBIASED news.

Nothing ever changes.

The never ending storreeeeeee.

The ABC is the publicly funded propaganda and public relations arm of Labor and the Greens. It is irreformable. At least half the population hates the ABC with a passion. I consider it to be like CRT. Most right wing politicians were ignorant of ordinry people's depth of feeling about CRT until parents stood up in school halls and told the lefty teachers to shove it. Right wing politicians do not realise how much support they would get from the public if they just made the abolishment of the ABC an election promise.

If the Nazi Party promised to abolish the ABC I would even vote for them.

I support the ABC because it is a national broadcaster with no advertisements, and provides me with the news in a format which does not have irritating frequent breaks for weather reports and advertisements.

It also provides a wide range of topics and informative reports on science, business and technology, which the commercial channels fail to do. For the young, it has a great diversity of subjects, well presented and educational.

So how does that compare to the commercial channels? It all a matter of choice. And that is what we should have in a democracy- something for everybody- regardless of race, religion or wealth.

To limit choice is to deny that freedom which is enshrined in our democratic constitution. Australians of all ages enjoy the ABC. Contrary to some claims the young of this country like the ABC due to its wide coverage of subjects, while older folk enjoy the music, documentaries, movies and stories presented- without advertisements!
