Trump leaves stage but tune still reverberates : Comments

By Chris Lewis, published 15/2/2021

President Trump has gone, but the rise of China and Trump's call to put America first remains a wake up call for all liberal democracies.

Chris - this is my "second" attempt at response to your article.

"While Trump's economic response was driven by an understanding that the US is finding it increasingly harder to maintain large trade deficits, a reality only maintained by a reliance upon much greater debt to fuel international economic activity, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has exploited the situation to increase China's wealth and influence around the world through its growing economic prowess and substantial military spending."

Response - Trump's negotiating with China was a "first" for American trade agreements, in order to bring back "parity" within said Agreements.

So now with Biden at the helm - who we all know will "bend" to China - we shall see.

Biden as a problem with family ties to China - will he be impeached?

Chris - so what do I see as an Aussie viewing Trump in power - let's put aside his posture.

1. Prior to election he said he would "build a wall" - he did....and it continued.

Why did he want to "build a wall" it was to ensure any person/s seeking refuge within USA had "legal" credentials to do so.

This included childhood slavery and/or abuse.

They were held on the Mexican Border for "verification" of details, to ensure any/all parties were legitimate parties for entry.

We now have Biden - no funds for completing wall.

And now "open borders", for entry into U.S.A.

Seriously - and he is stated as saying we will "unite" U.S.A.

So totally disgusting to any person seeking the welfare and care of children.

According to the 2020 Scanlon “Mapping Social Cohesion Survey” :

« In 2020, there was also significant increase in agreement with the proposition that in the local area ‘people from different national or ethnic groups get on well together,’ 84% in 2020, compared with 76% in 2018 and 78% in 2019.

Concern over becoming a victim of crime in the local area was significantly lower in 2020 than in the previous two years. In 2020, 26% indicated that they were worried about becoming a victim of crime, compared with 34% in both 2018 and 2019. There was a substantial increase in the proportion indicating that they were ‘not very worried’ or ‘not at all worried’ about becoming a victim of crime, 74% in 2020 compared with 66% in the previous two years.

Just 16% agreed with the proposition that ‘living in your local area is becoming ... worse,’ compared with 22% in 2018 and 20% in 2019. A large majority, 70%, indicated that it was unchanged.

As noted, there is concern based on historical evidence that in a time of crisis people will look for scapegoats and discriminate against those who they identify as outsiders. There can also be increased demand for government to adopt policies preferencing to their own citizens, including protectionist policies to safeguard local industries, irrespective of the global impact of such policies.

With regard to openness to the world, as indicated by trade policies, the survey asked: ‘Thinking about the growing economic ties between Australia and other countries, sometimes referred to as globalisation, do you think this is very good, fairly good, fairly bad or very bad for Australia?’ A substantial majority, 72%, considered that it was ‘very good’ or ‘fairly good,’ only marginally lower than 76% in 2018 and 75% in 2019 ».

Hasbeen,

Can I get you to sign up to my petition to get the Commonwealth to let China transmigrate 50 million of its people to Australia.

They're an invasive species and sure to get rid of all the criminals you mention above.

Just don't let them near any casino board meetings sitting to discuss money laundering before midnight otherwise they all turn into crime lords.

Hi Banjo

Re the 2020 Scanlon “Mapping Social Cohesion Survey” :"

1. This report was obviously produced before the disgusting violence and destruction we all saw over many cities throughout 2020 within USA whilst all Aussies being in lock down.

Stats can change - maybe Scanlon should do a Re-Mapping of Social Cohesion Survey.

The destruction to businesses including "mum and dad" businesses who put their livelihoods into their businesses - destroyed via looting, hoons.

Where was their protection against the mob?
