I don't believe there is much difference between the marks of girls and boys at schools, but overall, the academic performance for Australian students is well below what it should be.
This is particularly the case for primary school students. No privileges or special conditions should be handed out to primary school teachers, 80% of whom are female. They have one of the highest starting salaries of any profession, while having one of the lowest entrance scores to universities, while churning out students who are well below where they should be, and our primary school students are some of the worst performing primary school students in OECD countries. No privileges or special conditions should be handed out to Jane Caro either, who basically has no formal qualifications to write any column in a newspaper. And her hot air feminist column in a newspaper is a waste of trees that should have been used to soak up CO2. Or trees could replace her CH4 belching cows on her farm. Your piece looses impact because you end up just bashing "The Left". There are lots of us on the Left who think Jane Caro is a complete man hating fool, she is an outrage opinion writer.
The reality of our current situation is it transcends left or right politics. The best I can come up with is Monty Python. Most will remember the scene where the Jewish liberal front is asking what the Romans have ever done for them. Ie despite us evil white men being responsible for lifting humanity out of the stone-age and giving the world the wonders that is the modern world. Despite all of our achievements, there are some that would have you believe that the world would be much better if we had less influence and less power. People like Jane Caro don't want equality, they want to watch the world burn. Posted by Cobber the hound, Wednesday, 17 August 2016 9:54:06 AM

I find myself mostly agreeing with cobber on this essentially incoherent highly implausible doubly dumb rant! Against all things Jane and her Angus cows?
I hope all that steam venting makes you feel better now Craig? Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Wednesday, 17 August 2016 10:08:09 AM

Ah, the path through...Yep, that's the question all right. The world has irreversibly changed, so what's to do? I don't claim to have any special expertise, but I'm pretty sure that inflammatory op-eds posing as journalism from well-heeled sh!t-stirrers isn't in the top 100000000000 best choices.
We are inevitably moving toward a world in which most of the current work types will be done by some form of automated process and jobs will be scarce. We need to be considering what this means in an open and honest manner. Making up a stupid side contest between the genders is just destructive, since there won't be work for anyone in the sense we know it now. The thing is, that no work implies some fundamentally scary things for the role of capital and the function of profit. No work means no income earning ability, so how do goods get sold to make profits? They're much more interesting questions than silly whines from people who really should know better. I have always been a Labor voter, but I think the Left has abandoned its constituency. It's got a comfortable middle-aged spread and a chalet at Perisher and it doesn't want to deal with the proles. The ALP is rapidly losing relevance to a large part of its grass roots. Alan, I hope that clears things up for you. Posted by Craig Minns, Wednesday, 17 August 2016 10:41:02 AM

The link you gave is for results from 20 years ago. I can't find any recent results comparing boys to girls in Australia, but there are international tests that show Australian students are well behind students in other countries, particularly in grades 1 to 4. "Releasing the results, ACER Chief Executive Professor Geoff Masters said, “To say the results are disappointing is an understatement”. https://www.acer.edu.au/timss/australian-results-timss-pirls-2011-dec-2012 Many students (both boys and girls) learn very little in grades 1 to 4, and it is not until secondary school that they begin to learn something. The feminist Jane Caro now wants boys to learn nothing in secondary school also. Posted by interactive, Wednesday, 17 August 2016 11:13:45 AM

Slow down on immigration; pull up on culture smothering Chinese domination of Australia, with a cheque book full of credit from the loss of working class opportunities, stolen by them!
And boys will be ok...
