I'm right Jacked off : Comments

By Craig Minns, published 17/8/2016

In the piece I referenced in that last link, the author claims that boys don't need to be educated, since they'll just be handed life on a platter.

Hard not to emphasise with these sentiments .... But the author fails to shine the light on the precipitous path through the mountain pass, to salvation from it all!

Slow down on immigration; pull up on culture smothering Chinese domination of Australia, with a cheque book full of credit from the loss of working class opportunities, stolen by them!

And boys will be ok...

I don't believe there is much difference between the marks of girls and boys at schools, but overall, the academic performance for Australian students is well below what it should be.

This is particularly the case for primary school students.

No privileges or special conditions should be handed out to primary school teachers, 80% of whom are female.

They have one of the highest starting salaries of any profession, while having one of the lowest entrance scores to universities, while churning out students who are well below where they should be, and our primary school students are some of the worst performing primary school students in OECD countries.

No privileges or special conditions should be handed out to Jane Caro either, who basically has no formal qualifications to write any column in a newspaper.

And her hot air feminist column in a newspaper is a waste of trees that should have been used to soak up CO2.

Or trees could replace her CH4 belching cows on her farm.

Your piece looses impact because you end up just bashing "The Left". There are lots of us on the Left who think Jane Caro is a complete man hating fool, she is an outrage opinion writer.

The reality of our current situation is it transcends left or right politics.

The best I can come up with is Monty Python. Most will remember the scene where the Jewish liberal front is asking what the Romans have ever done for them.
Ie despite us evil white men being responsible for lifting humanity out of the stone-age and giving the world the wonders that is the modern world. Despite all of our achievements, there are some that would have you believe that the world would be much better if we had less influence and less power.

People like Jane Caro don't want equality, they want to watch the world burn.

I find myself mostly agreeing with cobber on this essentially incoherent highly implausible doubly dumb rant! Against all things Jane and her Angus cows?

I hope all that steam venting makes you feel better now Craig?

Ah, the path through...Yep, that's the question all right. The world has irreversibly changed, so what's to do? I don't claim to have any special expertise, but I'm pretty sure that inflammatory op-eds posing as journalism from well-heeled sh!t-stirrers isn't in the top 100000000000 best choices.

We are inevitably moving toward a world in which most of the current work types will be done by some form of automated process and jobs will be scarce. We need to be considering what this means in an open and honest manner. Making up a stupid side contest between the genders is just destructive, since there won't be work for anyone in the sense we know it now.

The thing is, that no work implies some fundamentally scary things for the role of capital and the function of profit. No work means no income earning ability, so how do goods get sold to make profits? They're much more interesting questions than silly whines from people who really should know better.

Cobber I don't think I bashed the Left. I have always been a Labor voter, but I think the Left has abandoned its constituency. It's got a comfortable middle-aged spread and a chalet at Perisher and it doesn't want to deal with the proles. The ALP is rapidly losing relevance to a large part of its grass roots.

Alan, I hope that clears things up for you.

The link you gave is for results from 20 years ago.

I can't find any recent results comparing boys to girls in Australia, but there are international tests that show Australian students are well behind students in other countries, particularly in grades 1 to 4.

"Releasing the results, ACER Chief Executive Professor Geoff Masters said, “To say the results are disappointing is an understatement”.

https://www.acer.edu.au/timss/australian-results-timss-pirls-2011-dec-2012

Many students (both boys and girls) learn very little in grades 1 to 4, and it is not until secondary school that they begin to learn something.

The feminist Jane Caro now wants boys to learn nothing in secondary school also.

Much ado about nothing. I'm surprised that anyone would read anything from the silliest woman in Australia, let alone carry on about it
as though a media scribbler sets the agenda in this country. Men and boys should stop acting like girls, pull their fingers out, and do what they need to to get by. What wimps some of us are.

ttbn,

On the contrary.

The education system is so filled with feminism each parent should be asking their school principal about the school's attitude towards boy students.

And every man should be making complaints when men are hit or ridiculed in advertisement, TV programs and movies.

Although we mostly get american movies, the amount of gun violence in PG movies has increased 3 times since the ratings were put in place, and the majority of that violence is against men, and it is shown to children.

Men are systematically portrayed as being superfluous, and deserved of being hit, harmed or killed.

Dedicated and principled journalists should be complaining the most about Jane Caro, because Jane Caro is simply a feminist ring in who has no principles, and her column reduces the value of journalism and gives every journalist a bad name.

No wonder newspapers are declining and few read them anymore.

Oh ho ho ho, Toni Lavis. Angry white men are such an amusing little bunch aren't they, not really like you and I civilised types.

I'm sure they'll lose interest by next election if only we poke fun at them a little. They have such a short attention span the funny old things.

ttbn, thank you for an excellent demonstration of the art of "I'm all right Jack"

I liked this piece. Good on you, Craig.
Peter West's recent articles do seem to show that there are problems.

I was going to reply to the Caro piece but just sighed and sat in the sun and enjoyed my day.

Yep, it's the women in cushy jobs that keep telling us to support feminism. It's suited them quite well. There was a guy at a conference recently with his wife. They both argued that working men had lost work and these well-paid women had taken up jobs- like teaching and lots of clerical and public service jobs at middle range level.
Ask a working mum, in a poorer suburb, what she thinks of feminism. Not much, is the usual answer.

ttbn, you're all right because, notwithstanding whatever excellent personal qualities you may be gifted with, you were most expeditiously gifted with a birth date. That meant you got to prosper from the most rapid period of personal productivity growth ever. Your clone might not be so fortunate if he were hatched in the past 30 or 40 years.

waverley, thanks for the kind words.

I wasn't having a go at feminism really, the Caro reference was more intended as a demonstration of really awful writing and an effort to understand the mindset that might have produced it.

The important point I was trying to emphasise is that language is being deliberately chosen to devalue and exclude by people who are, by any measure, extremely privileged and yet claim to define the Centre.

The above is interesting

Then others deny it's existance

In reality though, the average western woman, are the most privileged women in history, apart from the extremely privileged women in the upper classes, or with extremely wealthy dads.

Yes, most of the denigration of men in Australia is coming from academics in universities.

But out of 28 countries, academics in Australia are 8th in terms of rates of pay.

https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2012/03/22/new-study-analyzes-how-faculty-pay-compares-worldwide

These academics are among the highest paid taxpayer funded people in the world, and they never stop proclaiming themselves to be victims of men.
