Common denominator Australian : Comments

By Victor Dominello, published 27/6/2014

We have strong laws in place to ensure that people are not discriminated against on the grounds of race. That is why the NSW Government opposes changes to the Commonwealth Racial Discrimination Act that would dilute these protections.

Excellent article by the Hon Victor Dominello MP and Minister for Citizen and Communities in NSW. There is definitely no room in Australia for racism, intolerance or the spread of hatred in our multicultural society. We also need to prevent jihadists from coming or returning to Australia.

While one can agree with most of this, and the first post, we need to ensure, any proposed changes don't impact negatively, on our so call freedoms, that used to include the right to assembly, and unfettered freedom of "reasonable" expression.
And as the desecration of the Ukraine church proves, racism doesn't necessarily have a white face!
Any African or indigenous Australian, that has played any sport in India, will attest to that observation.
And our so called rights, can only be truly protected, by a bill of rights, not a huffing and puffing indignant, if unpopular politician, facing an upcoming election.
A bill of irrevocable rights, i.e., would have prevented John Howard's coalition, from being able to lock up a gentle, kind, compassionate, Dr Haneef, without charge or probable cause, but solely on a racial profile. That my friends, is the real face of racism in this country?
Let's not forget, that some Aussies are going to war-torn places, at their own expense and behest, to do humanitarian work.
Should we ban Australian, Doctors without borders i.e., simply because they are operating unofficially, in a war-torn environment, where a power crazed dictator, is murdering the innocent?
I'd pin a medal on them!
We need to have corroborating and bona fide evidence, before we start persecuting innocent persons ourselves!
Given we have space age lie detection technology; one wonders why we persist with NOT using it, to find out who is the Jihadist, and who is the mercy worker, or who is the real refugee?
And who is the charming affable people smuggler, looking for an ultra safe base for criminal operations, or a smiling Jihadist, intent on radicalizing our own innocent and trusting youth!?
Do it right the first time, and you only have to do it once!
Rhrosty.

The goal of Islam is to foist a world caliphate on its own people and on all nonbelievers. The cult is the enemy of the secular individual autonomy and freedom ushered into being in the Enlightenment. Those are the values not only of Australia but also of every decent country on earth. An absolute condition for acceptance in Australia must be total commitment to the Enlightenment values which include freedom for unbelief, impiety, blasphemy, apostasy. Note that freedom for these rights doesn't mean personal practice of them - just untrammelled acceptance of the rights of others to reject a religion, to mock it, to contradict it, to leave it.

Many anti-human cults surround a toxic core with a sugar coating. Islam is such a cult. To get an idea of just how it operates one must consider not only its self-description but also the analysis of its message by its ideological opponents, such as the unpicking of the Moslem technique of "taqiyya" by the Zionist writer Raymond Ibrahim at http://www.meforum.org/2538/taqiyya-islam-rules-of-war. The scum who travel to the Middle East to murder for Islam are not extremists. They are just following the rules of taqiyya at a different stage from the imams whose role is to "make nice" for now.

The answer is not to slam the door on refugees from the Moslem world (which lowers Australia morally to Moslem standards) but to make clear to wannabe residents (no matter how they arrive) that they have to commit individually to total acceptance and defence of others' personal religious or non-religious or anti-religious rights and will be chucked out at any sign that they haven't.

There are many more racists among those who claim to be racially discriminated against than any other group.

As stated by Macedonian Advocacy, There is definitely no room in Australia for racism, intolerance or the spread of hatred in our multicultural society.

However, the alternative advocated by Mr. Dominello is not a healthy one. Mr. Dominello is calling on people (Australians) to develop an identity, an Australian identity in this case - but identity is an error; any identification with any limited body, be it physical or social, denies our true divine identity, that we - and all else - are nothing but God.

Our sole loyalty should be to God. If we are not there yet, then this is the goal to thrive for, to strip ourselves of all other identities rather than to be caught in an endless cycle of limited mundane identities.

Just to clear any doubt, by "God" I do not refer to any cultural or legendary god, nor do I advocate loyalty to any human-establishment, including churches and similar religious organisations. Instead, I refer to that which is common to us all, that which we truly are, that which is our true identity.

Racism, intolerance and hatred separate us from God, so avoiding these is an essential preliminary, yet a far cry from where we are heading.
