Three huge granite stones rest comfortably on the top of Midbar Sinai Street, in Givat Havatzim, Jerusalem’s northernmost district. Cut to specification, the imposing stones represent one of several preparations by the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement’s to erect a Third Temple on the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount.

Since the Islamic Wafq owns and controls all the property on the Haram al-Sharif, by what means can these stones be transferred to the Temple Mount and how can a temple be constructed there? Not by any legal means.

If we assume that the First Temple really existed, completed by Solomon in 953 BC, then the third temple has already been built and destroyed. Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the first temple in 586 BC. Zerubabbel built a new temple in 515 BC. Antiochus trashed that one in 167 BC.

Herod then built a third temple in 30 BC which was destroyed by Tutus in 70 AD. But because the building of the third temple did not bring about the prophesied rise of the Jews, revisionists declared Herod's temple a "rebuild" even though it is clear from contemporary records that it was a complete replacement for the much smaller temple wrecked by Antiochus.

If Israel succeeds in building their third temple and again the Messiah does not show up, will they claim that the 201? temple was just another "rebuild?"

While we're off-topic, I suspect that the whole US-Iran wheeler-dealer thing is vastly more complicated, with all manner of back-room negotiations going on between the US and Iran and Israel and Syria, with Netanyahu playing bad-guy to Obama's good-guy for the audience, but many different scenarios and agendas being worked on.

Ask yourself: if Iran had the bomb, how son before the Saudis had one (if they don't have one already) ? And if you were Iran, how would you feel with Pakistan, the Saudis AND Israel having their bombs aimed at you ? So, they surely know they could never win if any nuclear-type conflict broke out ? That they are forever THERE, in between all three adversaries, so their best option is some sort of uneasy co-existence.

And surely Israel has common interests with Iran in Syria, grotesque as it may sound ? That their common enemy, and the Left's new friend, is the claque of al-Qa'ida-affiliated groups who seem perfectly content with turning the whole of Syria into rubble, in anticipation of a new Paradise on Earth ? Come to think of it, a similar agenda to that of the extreme Left ?

Maybe what might come out of all of these conflicts is either

a) sweetness and light for all OR

b) a modus vivendi between Israel and Iran, in mutual and temporary support of Bashar al-Assad, on the basis of their mutual loathing of al-Qa'ida (and by extension the Saudis), backed up by the US, OR

c) more unlikely but preferable, a strengthening of the liberal/democratic/secular forces in Syria, with the option of coming to terms, for a time at least, with Assad, and effectively, the US, Iran, Israel, Assad and the secular/democratic forces forming a coalition against the al-Qa'ida-oriented forces in Syria, to the disgruntlement of Saudi Arabia.

If only the Saudis could be effectively gruntled, the last option may work. Then the fun can begin.
