“Crispy grasshoppers, better known as Chapulines, are a delicacy in Oaxaca and are popular all over Mexico. They’re often eaten as a snack on their own or used as a toping to add crunch and texture, like we offer on our guacamole at [my restaurant] Johnny Sánchez. Think Mexican bacon bits. After being cleaned thoroughly, we toast them on a comal—a traditional Mexican griddle—with chili and lime to add spice and flavor. They’re absolutely delicious and are a great source of protein.”

Hi Hassy,

Once my 'Seniors National Service" is up and running, endless aged welfare will be a thing of the past. With a "Hi, ho, hi, ho, off to work we go" the aged and decrepit will be out of 'Gods Waiting Room" away from the one armed bandits, cheap schooners, free bingo and $10 lunches on a Wednesdays, and into the hard yakka! Sounds good so far does it not. That will save us, the poor struggling taxpayers, well, not you, me, see it gets better all the time! Wow you say, yes indeed after 16 hours of toil digging ditches the retirees will really be able to retire....to their tents in the newly created burb of Sunny Gulag for 4 hours of well earned rest. I hear you now, "Doesn't that forum genius Paul1405 have such great ideas!"

What a nasty little man you are Paul, wanting to send oldies who can't bend, out to pick strawberries. However you have given me an idea.

All bureaucrats & other government employees should have in their contract 1/3 of their time in farm labour. I'm sure the heads of the finance department would learn more about economics that effect real people out working with them than they ever did at a university as they have become.

Then we have all the office workers truck & bus drivers, not to forget the limousine drivers who spend far too much time sitting in their fattening butt, who would profit from some fresh air & exercise.

Thanks for triggering the thought that might save the world from famine.

No need to thank me Hassy,

Okay, strawberries are out, watermelons are in! Picking melons in the fresh air and sunshine, saving backs, how invigorating. BTW, that will save on government issued can beans, more dollars in the pocket of needy taxpayers. Hope you enjoy watermelon, it will be the main course for breakfast, lunch and tea from now on.

BTW, I'm not heartless, those who can't bend, will be hung upside down by their legs, in the perfect picking position. It will do wonders for their backs!

Hi Hasbeen,

Talking about not being able to bend.

I've invited family over for dinner on
Sunday and today I spent the afternoon
preparing a traditional fish-dish that
needs to marinade in a tomato and onion
sauce. It involved lots of cooking and
chopping of onions - not counting the
washing up.

By the time I'd finished - I was exhausted.
"I'm too old for this " I thought. But it's
my son's birthday and he loves that dish.
So does my husband.
I'll be making the Russian and potato salads
on Sunday - as well as the meat dishes.
Anyhow - next time I just
might leave it up to the Red Rooster franchise
to do the catering. They're fried chicken. chicken wings
and sliders, are delicious.

I'm not sure about taking any body off the dole as you suggest.
I'd be more inclined to force them to work for it - if they're
physically able - especially young people

I hear-tell there were a lot of locusts in ancient Egypt around the time of Moses. Perhaps we should ask Seti I how he grew them.
