Interesting times ahead for the UK.

It has celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and
now faces the election of a new Prime Minister after
the resignation of Boris Johnson. The two front
runners for the Conservative Party are worth a closer
look.

We have former Goldman Sachs analyst and pandemic
chancellor Rishi Sunak up against one-time accountant
turned foreign secretary - Liz Truss.

An interesting pair. Sunak promises a return to "traditional
conservative economic values."
While Truss is called the " human hand grenade because she
gets things done."

Who would you vote for - and why?

Good question Foxy

The engineer in me goes for Sunak, an engineer never trusts a truss.
However, the accountant in me does support Liz, I also believe experience with foreign affairs is a good attribute.Especially in light of the global turmoil we are currently experiencing.

Winner- Liz Truss

Hi VE,

I haven't yet totally made up my mind. Rishi Sunak coming from
wealth and privilege and having such impressive educational
qualifications is possibly more of a fit for the conservative
party. But then Liz Truss's qualifications and experience
stand her in good stead as well. I'm leaning towards her
at present.

It will be interesting to see who gets the nod from the party
especially after the charismatic Boris.

We've got family in London - and it will be interesting to
learn what they think.

Is Mise,

Don't you?

That's surprising coming from a self-proclaimed
British government supporter.

So you're lying?

Interesting, hmmmmm.

It's going to get interesting as the two remaining
candidates in the battle to succeed Boris Johnson as
leader of the UK Conservative Party and Prime Minister
now begin to campaign around the country for the votes
of as many as 180,000 Tory Party members.

The results will be announced on September 5th, but many
will send in their postal ballots long before then.

Ex-Chancellor Rishi Sunak seems to be the more privileged
wealthier candidate - who could appeal more to the
party elite. Whereas Foreign Secretary Liz Truss appears
to be a darling of the party grassroots who's drawn
comparisons with Margaret Thatcher and just may become
the favourite to succeed Boris Johnson.

The next couple of weeks in their campaigns are worth
watching. Things could change in politics very quickly as
we know.
