That’s at the moment but technology can advance swiftly.
Is Mise,
Yes and, that has led humans to the sad state we're at now. Technology for technology's sake, not technology for need. There's an uncontrollable abundance of utterly unnecessary technology simply because it can be produced & the reliable consumer mentality makes it profitable.
Guns are no different. A .22 or equivalent deters anyone staring at the little bore barrel from taking another step towards it. There's no justifiable reason for anything more powerful to be available to non-military people.
I think it is high time producers are controlled by authorities as to what they can put on the market. People waffle on about Global warming & pollution etc but as soon as a Dollar is to be made they tend to forget their responsibilities to their idealism !

Individual,
For starters the NSW Government doesn’t allow hunting or pest eradication of deer and other large animals with .22 rifles, a larger calibre is necessary for humane kills.
Most jurisdictions around the world have the same requirements.

Hi Issy,

The only people allowed a gun in society should be professionals whose occupation requires a firearm. Pest control should also be in the hands of professionals, and not weekend Rambo's. Agree?

Is Mise,
You missed the point.
Paul1405 is right.
.22 is ample for sport & necessary deterring of violent aggressors.

individual,
You, like Paul, miss the point, firearms are no/t normally allowed to be gainst human aggressors

Paul,
The record of ‘professional’ pest controllers using firearms is not good, witness the number of wounded horses by National Park rangers in helicopter culling..

When culling pigs only a fool would use a .22rf, they won’t penetrate the hide of big boars, all they do is make them a bit more angry.
