Of course we are conned, by climate activists who are really just religious nutters, earth-worshippers, screeching that the end of the world is nigh. They are rejecting the modern world.
If/when climate change turns out to be no longer an issue, the egos of those identifying with the cause would/will be undermined. That is why they hang on so grimly to the idea. And, of course, there is the biggest redistribution of wealth the world has ever seen Posted by ttbn, Monday, 1 November 2021 6:46:02 PM

http://www.sciencealert.com/pacific-island-nation-expected-to-sink-is-getting-bigger Unfortunately, for the follow-the-science brigade, some science is too inconvenient to follow. Posted by mhaze, Tuesday, 2 November 2021 8:31:18 AM

Islands, just like everything else, wears over time. Anyone expecting them to get higher whilst the erosion does its work need their head read !
If anything, islands gradually subside, especially those on unstable ground. Posted by individual, Tuesday, 2 November 2021 9:38:16 AM

Having seen details of coral islands growing proven since satellite photography could display it so easily, I recently took a trip courtesy of Google Earth, over a few of the atolls I had acquaintance with.
In the mid 70s I built a number of small jetties for plantations on both high, [volcanic], & low, [coral] islands in the Pacific islands. These were to handle the small, [up to about 140Ft] copra boats. It was interesting. I found no change on the high islands, but on a number of atolls it was quite pronounced. One on the southern windward end of the island, I found the island had moved about 3 meters away from the jetty, & fill had been used to keep it accessible by vehicles. It did appear that new land, not yet incorporated into the planted area had developed at the down wind end. Three others were being engulfed by the island. One had the island grow out past one end of the brest type jetty, making it a bit more difficult to access, but two others were totally engulfed. One was a full 6 meters inland & the other a couple of meters. One of these the plantation had almost entirely disappeared, enveloped by the bush so no longer managed, but the other was obviously maintained with the rows of palms free of undergrowth or trees. This highlighted just how much new coral debris is incorporated in to these islands extending & growing them. Posted by Hasbeen, Tuesday, 2 November 2021 2:04:41 PM

that I heard a Pacific Islander delegate talking up how much money
should be given to the Islands because of rising sea levels I stopped
to think about it.
Just how bad is it ? The Coastal Institute at Auckland University
said 65% of Pacific Islands were larger than in 1945, 30% were the same size.
I thought it should be easy to check this as tide heights have been
monitored around Australia since 1788.
So I went to the B o M of Australia and looked up Tuvalu and Ft Denison.
Tuvulu 1993 30.1 Metres
2013 30.141 M
2021 29.69 M
Ft Denison Sydney Harbour
1914 1.111
2021 0.988
That shows a fall in the mean heights but on such a small sample it
is not conclusive but these are yearly averages.
As I scanned down the tables these were very similar figures.
Ft Denison, no change in over 100 years.
So is the sea rising differently in the Pacific Islands ?
If so there must be some monumental currents running.
Or could the Islands be sinking ?
What are other countries supposed to do about that ?
Another conclusion is WE ARE BEING CONNED !
