Firstly the 0.73 mm/yr at Fort Denison was for the whole of the record and doesn't show the current acceleration of rising sea levels.

Secondly Bazz where did you get the 1914 figure?

I went here: http://www.psmsl.org/data/obtaining/stations/196.php and it shows from 1915 onward.

I then opened up the annual mean sea level figures link which was here: http://www.psmsl.org/data/obtaining/rlr.annual.data/196.rlrdata

I then ran them through a trend line graph with an online calculator which can be found here: http://www.graphpad.com/quickcalcs/linear2/

I was a bit lazy and pegged the year 2000 at 7006 just to allow the calculations to go smoothly.

I got trend figures of:

1960-2020 1.283mm per year

1980-2020 1.911mm per year

1990-2020 2.578mm per year

2000-2020 2.956mm per year

You are welcome to do them yourself.

Of course the smaller data sets start to have huge margins of errors but the 1980-2020 figure of 1.911mm is down to ± 0.3299. The whole thing seems to be so obviously accelerating madly and can hardly be ascribed to increase tonnage now can it.

Wow!! 0.111 inch in 20 years that means that the toes of my shoes will get wet in about 180 years if I left them at a spot where the water is now at high tide; some.acceleration.
