Toradoes are always with us, it’s just that these recent ones have hit built up areas, usually they go virtually unnoticed because of the distance between towns; sometimes the Bureau of Meteorology are the only people who know that they’ve occurred.
I was working out at Pokataroo many years ago when what the locals called a big Wllly Willy passed near the “town” it lifted a lot of small bits of dead timber etc., and could have been dangerous because of the debris it was hurling around; it was only considered a bit out of the ordinary because of it’s size, it left a swathe about 50 yards wide.
