In world breaking news, Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest in company with the Queensland Primer Annastacia Palaszczuk announced; Fortescue Future Industries will build the world's largest green energy hydrogen manufacturing facility in Central Queensland. The plant will be manufacturing green energy infrastructure and equipment, such as electrolysers, cabling and wind turbines, to create green hydrogen that will be exported across the world. Forrest went on to say; "Queensland has the beautiful combination of wind and solar and you have a hard-working, educated people [and] a great government steering into a green hydrogen future." Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the announcement secured Queensland as part of the "green renewably hydrogen energy revolution". Hydrogen is part of Queensland's future and [this] sets Queensland up to be an energy powerhouse in green renewable energy." The Premier said 300 jobs would be created in regional Queensland over the lifespan of the facility. Green energy has a potential world market of $12 trillion per year by 2050. This is great news for Queensland and Australia. Unfortunately the Morrison federal government remains yet to even set a target of net-zero emissions by 2050, as it continues to pander to the coal and gas industries.

Hi Paul,
This is great news. It means there will be ongoing jobs into the thousands into the future. It's also a good opportunity with this facility for traditional owners in the Gladstone region to be offered secure work in the industry. Training could be set up in local high schools. A win-win all round for the state and the country. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 12 October 2021 9:37:41 AM

Subsidy harvesting.

Hi Foxy,
I am absolutely convinced that sustainable green energy is the way of the future. Australia, more than most, has a great opportunity to be a part of that green future. Fossil fuels are not evil, they are inanimate object which have served us well in the past, but there is now a price to pay for that service, and its in the cost created by global warming through the past exploitation of those materials, climate change is real and it is adversely impacting many lives the world over, some of us will pay a very high price for the past dependence on oil, coal and gas. Unfortunately we have retarded politicians like Barnaby Joyce and others in government who cannot face the reality that the world is in crises, and climate action now is absolutely necessary. We had the experience of Morrison carting a lump of coal into the house of representatives, what a disgrace that was, what is his mind set. Driven by the greed of wealth creation these guys will go to any length to avoid the obvious. The retards are like dinosaurs, they are a thing of the past, and like the dinosaurs they will take us to extinction given their blind thinking. Green energy.
Sustainable example. We have a 10 acre plantation of Ash trees that we coppice for firewood to supplement and conserve our native, and slower growing species. The eldest son is planning on another 10 acres (plus) so that we will eventually be burning only Ash. Renewable green energy, especially as Ash can be burnt green. Ise Mise, is Ash a wood that burns easily with high moisture and does it give off much heat? Serious question, not having a go at you but the UK is bring thousands of tonnes of dried US wood pellets.

J Bower,
Ash is a hardwood and burns hot, not as hot as our better hardwoods such as the Box trees and best of all, Iron Bark. Ash has a low moisture content so will burn green but for best results should dry for 6 months. Ash is comparable to Stringy Bark in my experience, l must look up their calorific values. Probably in England demand has exceeded supply. Posted by Is Mise, Wednesday, 13 October 2021 4:38:35 PM

Hi Paul,
Taken from the link listed below: " NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says a hydrogen strategy unveiled by the NSW government that aims to help the state hit net zero emissions by 2050 is 'world leading.'" "The strategy provides up to $3 billion incentives for green hydrogen production including tax exemptions and includes plans for a "hydrogen refuelling highway" between Melbourne and Brisbane." " Mr Perrottet unveiled the blue-print at a media event with mining magnet Andrew "twiggy" Forrest in Sydney (Wednesday morning). The Premier said the plan would create tens of thousands of jobs and secure NSW as an "energy superpower." There's more at the following link: http://abc.net.au/2021-10-13/andrew-forrest-backs-nsw-green-hydrogen-plan/100534458 I'm even more impressed with this man! Sorry Paul I left out "news" in the link. Here it is again: http://abc.net.au/news/2021-10-13/andrew-forrest-backs-nsw-green-hydrogen-plan/100534458 Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 14 October 2021 9:36:05 AM

Forrest saving the planet? Spare me, that bloke will be looking to stripe every poor person in Australia. We will pay and he will play. Claim every dollar as tax free and then some. At the end of it will be all sorts of junk lying around for the next fraud to buy up and use to steal from us. There was a big solar array in Bridgewater in Victoria, went broke and equipment taken North for further harvesting of subsidies.
What a joke we are, anyone here read about the "Groundnuts Scheme" or even the "South Sea Bubble". We deserve all we get as a cowardly bunch cowed by loudmouths and spivs! Posted by JBowyer, Thursday, 14 October 2021 9:44:20 AM

Truth is no measured in mass appeal.

Hi Foxy,
The states are getting on board with renewables and green hydrogen projects. The NSW announcement is a great initiative for both the state and the country. Unfortunate like some of the 'Usual Suspects' on the Forum, the Federal Government is leaving itself out in the "coal" on all these issues. Some in the Nationals are so far removed from reality, its a joke. Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 15 October 2021 5:57:23 AM

Issy, is all ok out you way, with tornado hitting Armadale last night.

Hi Paul,
I think it's great that countries around the world are going towards renewables. They see where the future lies. Even China aims to head for zero by 2060. Our state premiers have the right idea, and perhaps they will force the hand of our future governments? Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 October 2021 8:43:32 AM

Dear Paul,
Thanks for raising this topic for discussion. I've learned a lot in doing research about hydrogen. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 15 October 2021 9:06:48 AM

Paul,
Ref. the Tornado, didn’t know about it till I read your post. I saw lightning down Armidale way but thought it only a bit of a.storm. Quite a coverage on the news; have since found out that a few friends were in it but fortunately no real damage only to them but many houses were damaged rather badly. Hi Issy,
Was surprised by the size of that tornado that hit Armidale, it was a biggie, expect that sort of thing in the US. It was the second in a fortnight on the NSW Tablelands, one near Bathurst. Hope its not a sign of things to come. As a kid I remember Willy Willy's on a hot summer afternoon in the paddocks, but nothing like that. What's your take on this unusual weather event. Paul,
Toradoes are always with us, it’s just that these recent ones have hit built up areas, usually they go virtually unnoticed because of the distance between towns; sometimes the Bureau of Meteorology are the only people who know that they’ve occurred. I was working out at Pokataroo many years ago when what the locals called a big Wllly Willy passed near the “town” it lifted a lot of small bits of dead timber etc., and could have been dangerous because of the debris it was hurling around; it was only considered a bit out of the ordinary because of it’s size, it left a swathe about 50 yards wide. Hi Issy,
I recall the Willy Willy but it was in the arvo of a hot summer's day. That one was 10pm at night. They say large tornadoes are common in unpopulated Central Aust. Upset the Cuz in Bathurst and Orange 70 years and can't recall such an event. Posted by Paul1405, Sunday, 17 October 2021 10:49:57 AM

Dear Paul,
I watched "The Insiders" this morning and it appears that out PM is going to attend the Conference in Glasgow after all. Also the Nationals will have to decide at their meeting whether they will support the Coalition's aim for zero emission by 2050. It seems that the pressure is on both for the PM and the Nationals. Wonder what Barnaby is going to do? Even the Queen has come on board. Although Prince Charles was first! Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 17 October 2021 12:07:56 PM
