Dear Yuyutsu,
And equally if those thousands who march had not wanted Hamas to deliver on its insistence that they would react to a bunch of "Nazis" as you say pouring through Palestinian streets they would have refrained. The government only succeeded in directing the màrrch away from one particular area. Hamas used balloons instead of rockets. It seems some compromise was reached. Unlike you I have never believed Isreal would ever have delivered a 2 state solution without considerable outside pressure, something that was never a guarantee. Gaza is without checkpoints and settlements precisely because rockets were used. It is the acquiescence of Abbas that sees the West Bank as it is today. "On Wednesday, 9 June 2021, at around 8:00 A.M., soldiers came with a D9 bulldozer to the Masafer Yatta area in the South Hebron Hills. The forces destroyed a 500-meter-long section of road leading to the community of She’b al-Batum, some of which was paved with concrete, as well as a 500-meter-long dirt road leading to Khirbet al-Mufaqarah. They also destroyed a water pipe that serves the community of al-Fakhit, where 15 families live, which the residents later repaired."

You know, there was a tradition whereby the French princes (all those Louis's) had another boy attached to them, whereby if the prince did something naughty, then that other boy was flogged. Great education...
Similarly, the people (and animals, and the environment) who suffer from the fire-balloons are NOT the Nazis who marched through Palestinian territories. In fact, those Nazis do not care for them in the least.
And as for Israel's government, they are too vulnerable to stop those Nazis from marching. At this time it cannot, though I am sure that they would have liked to.
«What do you think the response should have been? Acceptance?»
Emotional response or rational response?
Rational responses are such that lead to a desired result.
I cannot answer for the Palestinians in Gaza because I am not privy to what they want, I mean what they really want as opposed to what they say.
If they want to be bombed, then I would say that they did the correct thing.
But if they truly wanted to stop those marches, then over the years their balloons and rockets only helped to strengthen the extremist Nazis in Israel and bring them to gain and maintain control over Israel's government. Had they not launched those rockets and balloons, then it would be very likely that by now Israel would have had a peace-loving government that would have allowed them to have their own state(s) on all their territories, alongside many other benefits. Either they do not want it, or they respond emotionally and shoot themselves in the leg.
