Indy and Hassy,

This tooth job, was my first real experience with Queensland Public Health. From the time I seen the dentist at the local Government 24 hour Medical Centre to Thursday having the op all was fine. I was called in to the hospital about 5 weeks back for an examination/consultation and x-ray, then a series of phone calls, one 10 days back about cutting out some medication I'm on, then a follow up email, a letter, another phone call on Tuesday to see if I was right to go. All I can say is all went well.

In Sydney, I had a lot of experience with the Public Hospital system, with both my father and mother before they died, myself with a heart attack 12 days in hospital, and my wife with firstly a nose procedure, then a breast operation. Every time I had a good experience with the medical staff, very professional in what they do, so I can't fault the public system. Years ago I ditched the private health insurance as a scam, and put my faith in "Medicare". from what I have read I think we have the best public health system in the World.

Hassy, what you have said is a disgrace to the system. I know it always helps to know someone. My wife worked at Sydney Children's Hospital for years. With her nose she was getting around work with blocked up nose, using some kind of spray she got from the chemist. One of the baby doctors not a nose doctor, asked her what's wrong. come into my office I'll have a look. "You have very bad polyps in your nose, they need doing immediately, do you have private insurance?".. "No I don't"..."Give me your details and leave it with me" he said. Within a week "T" was called by a specialists, at the next door public hospital and the next day, he did her polyps at no charge.

Well I'm glad someone has had good service Paul, but in the last 30 years mine has been almost all bad.

When I had my first heart attack I drove myself to Beaudesert hospital. The Asian doctor there had my clot dissolved & me out of trouble in about an hour. With my tinnitus & his thick accent, I couldn't understand a word he said, but the job was done, & quickly.

They then shipped me off to Logan hospital where I sat in a cardiac ward for 3 days, with sticky things falling off my chest regularly, without seeing a doctor. I checked my self out & went home for a decent meal.

5 months later they had me do some stress tests, & another 4 months later I had an angioplasty at PA. 7 months later they finally put a stent in my 95% blocked artery. 16 months from my heart attack to getting a stent does seem a bit slow to help.

It was only after my 3Rd heart attack that an Indian Lady cardiologist told me what my problem was & why it was happening that have been able to avoid having more for the last 10 years.

Paul1405,
What's your opinion on the Qld Premier's father's involvement in the genetic-company game ?

From 18 April, you’ll be able to go to New Zealand without quarantining, but also without travel insurance to cover the costs of those snap Covid lockdowns for which Jacinda Ardern is notorious. Go if you dare.

Hi Indy,

Haven't read a great deal about the genetic business Henry Palaszczuk is involved in. In your mind is there some conflict of interest, or moral issue involved?

Paul1405,

Another classic Soot stuff-up.

I think there are more than a few LNP deviants itching to dump Soot and put Dutton in his place.

Only thing stopping it from happening right now is that Soot made it compulsory to get 2/3 majority of the LNP MPs to oust the leader. Sort of like Putin making a law that he, the Pope and Xi will have jobs for life.
