An insurance policy costs. It can be painful to pay the premiums, but not anywhere like the cost if your house burns down. Yes, there comes the stage where the insurance companies charge too much and then you must switch insurers (and forfeit the "loyalty bonus"). My only criticism is that "Chinese regime" should just read "Chinese" because we are talking about the Chinese nation-state as distinct from just the Chinese state.
