Josephus,
So the policies of both Trumpf and Biden are not all that different ? They both support American capitalist and (what we would call) liberal progress ? [Of course, coming from a pig-ignorant country like the US has temporarily become, you may define 'liberalism' very differently]. Neither one has the monopoly on patriotism ? Both the Republicans AND the democrats support democracy and the American way ? It's not some dopey Manichaean either/or ? Is that what you are saying ? Loudmouth2,
Trump did not say the corona virus was a hoax. It is false! You might want to believe what you say. http://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-coronavirus-rally-remark/ "Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax." Did you watch the last link I gave? Posted by Josephus, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 1:46:01 PM

Hi Paul1405
Yes, I dare say, Josephus would salute the upstanding Teutonic, nay Germanic, yodelling extolled in the "Aussie national anthem" at http://youtu.be/wGexgNKPl0k "Thats napalm son. I love the sound of girt in the morning!" True fact "girt / gird", that stuffs up our Anthem, mostly comes from German. See http://www.etymonline.com/word/gird "gird (v.) Old English gyrdan "put a belt or girdle around; encircle; bind with flexible material; invest with attributes," from Proto-Germanic *gurdjan (source also of Old Norse gyrša, Old Saxon gurdian, Old Frisian gerda, Dutch gorden, Old High German gurtan, German gürten)..." 'Trump did not say the corona virus was a hoax.'
don't worry Josephus Joe caught the tds a long time back. He matches cnn with half quotes, never any context and hatred. Just lovely to see the 73 year old overweight junk food addict not falling for the hysteria that has bankrupted nations. Seems like Trump has more energy and nous with coronavirus that his opponents hiding in bunkers. Notice chief hypocrite Cuomo (the one responsible for coronavirus in nursing homes) moaning on about Trumps recovery. Quite a circus! Posted by runner, Wednesday, 7 October 2020 3:21:30 PM

Yes, if I understand you, there is the small lunatic 'left' and the small lunatic right, and a large, more sensible middle. As a refugee from the 'left', I've moved solidly, almost desperately, to the middle.
In this US selection, the question is: who will appeal to the 'solid middle', rather than the idiot right or idiot left ?
If Biden keeps his head, and if Harris comes through this debate without any serious wounds, they may give the Head Clown and his offsider some trouble.
If it turns out that Trumpf's 'virus' was bogus, fake news (after all, the 'virus' is a hoax), probably a story-line that he picked up from one of his Marvel Komiks, the gap may be magnified.
Of course, as we move towards a quarter of a million US deaths from this hoax virus, with Trumpf in quarantine for a fortnight or so, Pence will have to work overtime. And of course, if the virus is genuine and Trumpf comes down with the second stage of it, then Pence et al. will have to move fast to get their new act together, with a greatly impaired team.
But of course, if Trumpf joins 240,000 of his fellow-Americans, and dies in an ICU, that puts a new spin on the whole game. Constitutionally, if Pence wins, that puts Nancy Pelosi in as V-P. In that unlikely event, how will they work together ?
And will they wait until Trumpf is in the ground before they start negotiating ?
Which brings us to Barrett: now that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is actually in the ground, can Trumpf's choice for the Supreme Court be confirmed in time ?
And what if SHE gets the hoax virus ?
Don't you just love a circus ? I remember Jimmy Sharman's Troupe of (mostly Aboriginal) boxers very fondly. I had a friend from Darwin who was a boxer in that business.
