I've just read an interesting article on the BBC
by New York correspondent Nick Bryant on - "What this crisis reveals about the US and its President". Bryant points out that "Nations like individuals reveal themselves at times of crisis in emergencies of this immense magnitude. It soon becomes evident whether a sitting President is equal to the moment". We're told that "Donald Trump's response has been so predictable. He has not changed. He has not grown. He has not admitted mistakes. He has shown no humility. Instead all the hallmarks of his presidency has been on agitated display - his boasts". "He has awarded himself a 10 out of 10 for his handling of the crisis. The politicisation of what should be the apolitical. He toured the Centers for Disease Control wearing a campaign cap emblazoned with the slogan - "Keep America Great". "His truth twisting. He now claims to have fully appreciated the scale of the pandemic early on - despite dismissing and downplaying the threat for weeks. His attacks on the "fake news" media including a personal assault on a White House reporter who asked what was his message to frightened Americans. "I tell them you are a terrible reporter". "His mocking of Mitt Romney the only Republican who voted at the end of the impeachment trial for his removal from office for going into isolation". "His continued attacks on government institutions. His lack of empathy. Rather than offering soothing words for relatives of those who have died or words of encouragement and appreciation for those in the medical trenches." "Trump's daily White House briefings commonly start with a shower of self congratulation. After Trump has spoken Mike Pence his loyal deputy usually delivers a paean of praise to the President". Runner,
But it's a pity that they are true :) The latest on Trumpf's condition: http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=9270 Gosh, wouldn't it be so unfortunate if Trumpf has to get treated on a ventilator, those unnecessary and expensive objects of a few months ago. Such a waste of money then, but probably vital now. If only Trumpf had had a strong torch. Anyway, it's all a hoax. Fake news. Let's all hope that Trumpf can recover in time for the inauguration of President Biden in January. Only 32 days (our time) to go, Runner :) Joe Posted by loudmouth2, Saturday, 3 October 2020 2:47:57 PM

Dear runner,
You are now getting so defensive of your utterly corrupt and venal president that you are calling what Foxy wrote hateful? Get your hand off it mate. Trump is a bully, a draft dodging, tax dodging, paying his workers dodging, reprehensible, pussy grabbing, pornstar bedding, crass excuse for a leader. His family and assorted cronies have enriched themselves incredibly. The reason for his disregard of the virus was he didn't want any action to come at an economic cost to himself or his henchmen. Well at least you have dialed back your spruiking of him as a great man. Anybody who doesn't at least see him for what he really is is delusional. Time to get off your knees and join the rest of us. But be aware, anytime you go after a political figure for any kind of immoral behaviour the rest of us will be able to look at you and say, “Shut up, you supported Trump until the end. You have nothing to say here.” Posted by SteeleRedux, Saturday, 3 October 2020 2:58:54 PM

runner,
You talking about "hateful garbage" ? That's like the Mafia getting together to bump off the Godfather for not going to church on Sunday. Posted by Foxy, Saturday, 3 October 2020 3:00:45 PM

Thanks for your comments. I've largely reached the point where I post once - on the very few subjects worth bothering with - and don't come back. Apart from the few posters you have mentioned, and you of course, most posters keep rabbiting complete garbage not worth reading. This morning, I was interested to see what the usual fools had to say about Donald Trump's contraction of the China virus. The instigator of this thread, Pathetic Pete, seems to be enjoying it. At least nobody has wished the man dead as has actor Dominic West and and other zombies in America have via Twitter.
It seems that most people don't realise the serious situation the West is in with the Chinese threat and Marxism - virtual anarchy - from within the West itself. Even with someone like Trump leading the Western world, it will be touch and go; with Joe Biden, or anyone from the Democrat side, it will be disaster. There is far more at stake than Trump's grating personality and Biden's cognitive problems. Trump has
proved himself; his haters will have to tolerate him for only four more years, but what happens in that four years is vital to the free world. There is nothing in Joe Biden's lengthy political career to suggest that he is the man for the job.
