A bill to ban cash payments over $10,000 and impose two-year jail sentences on those caught using cash above that limit is about to be passed in the lower house, but it is likely to be opposed by the entire Senate crossbench.

The whole thing is aimed at criminals, who will find ways around it, and the negative effects will be felt by ordinary people who are more comfortable using cash than than they are with using technology when paying their bills and purchasing goods.

And, there is little incentive to keep money in a bank, given record low interest rates. The Greens, in a rare moment of sanity, say that the government will be criminalising the use of legal tender.

To me, this is just another case of politicians inconveniencing and punishing most of us because they are incapable of dealing with criminals - who will find a way around the law as they always do. It is also another invasion of our privacy

"The Greens, in a rare moment of sanity, say that the government will be criminalising the use of legal tender."

'Even a broken clock is right twice a day'

Well good for them.
Maybe Greens party members do a lot of brown paper bag deals?
Few people do things that aren't in their own interests.

On the opposite end of the spectrum:

The Special Commission of Inquiry into the Drug 'Ice' has called for the decriminalisation of drugs for personal use.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-02-27/ice-inquiry-findings-decriminalisation-pill-testing/12006176

So you've got: Make cash illegal, but make drugs legal.

Coronavirus can be used to push a seemingly valid argument that we need to get rid of cash as it can spread the infection.

I told you all some time ago that they will push for a cashless society;
And in such a scenario they will make recreational drugs legal and regulated and they will effectively become dealers by profiting off the exact same drugs they've persecuted and imprisoned others for in the past (in the interests of safety of course)

Once they have an agenda, we'll they may not win today,
But they'll keep pushing the issue and steering the arguments until they do even if it takes baby steps.

- Full Spectrum Dominance -

http://www.amazon.com/Full-Spectrum-Dominance-Totalitarian-Democracy/dp/398132630X

One last point, they're going to want everyone's cash in the bank for the bail-in.

If computers could conspire, then the prohibition on cash would be an important step in their plot to control the world and subjugate its humans, including the prevention of any direct human interactions that do not pass through them.

No, computers are not yet capable of this, but there seem to be plenty of useful-idiot humans who work tirelessly to take them there.

That government is to be privy to our financial transactions is problematic in itself as well, but today I will not dwell on that problem because it pales in insignificance relative to the proliferation of, degree of control and dependence on computers and similar digital machines. If government is honestly keen that all they want is to know where money goes (even while this is a bad idea), rather than to plot on behalf of computer-hegemony, then instead of this law they only need to require a written form to be submitted immediately whenever a large cash transaction occurs.

The Australian Taxpayers’ Alliance (ATA) have called the proposed ban a “corporatist attempt by members of the Government to help out the major banks by forcing people to use their services”.

That's the same banks a recent government enquiry revealed were ripping off customers left, right and centre.

"The cash ban won’t crack down on crime syndicates, it won’t stop money laundering, and it won’t stop tax evasion,” according to ATA executive director Brian Marlow.

It's a bit like our draconian gun laws: only decent, law abiding citizens are inconvenienced and treated like criminals. The real criminals just laugh.

I fail to see this proposal is a problem, except for foreigners transacting real estate deals with truck loads of laundered cash.

Those accumulating cash under the bed can still do so, to avoid banks.

Money may still be laundered in ten grand lots, by sitting the old Chinese grandad comfortably on a chair, feeding wads of cash into an ATM.

Chinese can continue sending out grandma each Saturday, to collect the rent in cash.

What changes except the above money laundering through real estate deals?

The government has always monitored cash transfers greater than $10K.

What it tells me is that it knows that a lot of these transfers are a bit fishy and that it now needs to stop them. There are probably a lot of $10K plus transfers being remitted to China which are draining Australia of cash.

It's like the coronavirus telling us: It's a bit late to be worry about China now suckers!

I've just read the bits about drug smuggling.

Can I be cynical on this subject!

With every wave of new immigrants into this country, comes a new drug problem. Us old folk are only too aware of it, and usually can't shut up about. I'm one.

Let's start with our old mate Graham Ritchardson. Renowned among a few at the time, for his drug smuggling efforts through the Sydney container wharves in the early seventies. Never caught of course, but if you grease the correct palms, all is usually well: Richardson had his wings badly singed with his involvement in th off set printing Jewish stocktake fire and Rene Rivkin, in '93, or there about.

Now to the point. If we could trust honesty was at the forefront of our politicians, then we could believe their efforts at restricting cash transactions were genuine. But there not course.

This cash limit innovation is possibly driven by the more timid politician, not quite game to have a backhander windfall from an ambitious Chinese connection, and envious of those that will.

Little do we the sucker public know, just what the illegal import of amphetamines through containers carrying all Australian manufactured goods, processed through our shipping and airport terminals from China.

Vastly too much in volume to keep accurate tabs on, by our overworked border security services.

As the population of Chinese multicultural converted Australians increases, exponentially, the rise of the drug plague of ice increases.

I'm sure some smart little cookie could achieve a Phd in researching this phenomenon.
Just to prove the point we, all of us with eyes wide open, are sure is true, using past observations as a guide.

ttbn, AC, glad to see you both on board and front and centre in this, yet another scam from our oh so trusting pollies.
I wrote about these topics and more some time ago, and just to stick it up SR's best asset, he just finished bagging my source, who have been advising Aussies about this and many other things which are detrimental to our living and well-being.
I strongly recommend the CEC, it is well worth following.
They are the ones trying to keep the bastards honest, I said TRYING!
As for this disgusting cash grab, it is a direct order/instruction/push from the banks.
And if anyone doesn't believe that "BAIL-IN" is a thing, just look it up.
Those who have no large amounts of cash in the bank, need not worry.
As someone said to me ages ago, the left will be pushing hard because they don't believe in saving or accumulating wealth, and are incensed, jealous even, hearing of anyone better off than them and relishing in the thought of seeing them crushed to a level lower than themselves.
The problem is there is NO level lower than a lefty.

Hey diver dan,

"Little do we the sucker public know, just what the illegal import of amphetamines through containers carrying all Australian manufactured goods, processed through our shipping and airport terminals from China."

I'd be willing to bet there's just as much amphetamines if not more purchased from the dark web and coming directly into the country in smaller quantities and delivered directly to peoples doorsteps and mailboxes by Australia Post.
I'd be willing to bet Australia Post is the biggest drug delivery company in Australia.

For the people who buy it on the dark web, it's very lucrative, it costs less than 10% of the street price, from what I'm told.
Something the size of a matchbox might make $10,000 profit or more, in just a few weeks.

As you said "Vastly too much in volume to keep accurate tabs on, by our overworked border security services."

I watched a short video on YouTube the other day.
- About Opal mining in Lightning Ridge.
http://youtu.be/RHzc0Wr0poQ
I saw a bloke hand over 15K cash for opals.
(See the end of the video above)
Here's another video about cutting and polishing opals and their value, quite interesting.
http://youtu.be/sa13qjXSP0s

I thought buying mined gold or opals for cash might be a way that people circumvent these laws and launder money;
- But I doubt you'd be able to launder the huge quantities of cash some of these people are making from amphetamines.
I'm sure there's many others ways as well.

I know there was a study done once that showed liberals and progressives are more likely to justify stealing things,
- like food for example, when they have no money to purchase it.
They seem to feel as though society owes them, and if they are in need they have a right to take it.
They believe their right to food if they're hungry and have no money overrides any other right others who grew or purchased the food might have.

They believe that capitalism and society OWES them.

Some people are spenders, while others are savers.
It doesn't surprise me whatsoever that the spenders
(those who cannot budget, be disciplined with their spending habits or see past a 'living week to week' mentality)
- Would justify dragging others down to their level to make up for their own financial management shortcomings.

Just to add some more real proof to the Bail-In issue that's about to hit us.
We won't know when.
Anyone out there with six figures in the bank, I would like to put a challenge to you.
Just to test whether or not, this cash restriction and bail-in are real or not, try telling the bank you want to withdraw ALL your money and see what they say.
My guess is that the first thing they will say is why?
Now I'm going to respond with, "because I request it".
I'm curious what their next move will be, I imagine it will be to call the manager, and he will only try to stop you from taking your money out, with all sorts of reasons, from a security point of view to it's not bank policy, or similar.
I would then explain that I don't want my money in an entity which can legally take as much of my money it deems fit to stop the bank from collapsing because of reasons which have nothing to do with me, yet are sanctioned by the govt making it legal to do so.
See the video below, a little longer than I'd like, but very important.

I wonder if you open several accounts at different banks and split your cash up so there's less than 100k per account whether that will avoid the bail-in?
I wonder if they can hit term-deposits?

AC, because the bastards are a devious and evil lot, they hide the details in their T&C's, so good luck trying to get a straight answer.
I'd like to think that, that is one way to safe guard your money against them stealing it.
But then I thought, all they have to do is put in your name and up comes all your accounts, and if they add up to several hundred thousand and THEY deem you to be eligible to be a victim of their thieving, then you're no better off.
I wish I knew.
As I have explained to many, it doesn't matter about the fact that the banks are supposed to safeguard your money, the bastards are so cold blooded, they have taken the attitude that by putting the money in the bank, you are in effect speculating, in which case you must be aware that speculation is a two way street.
They mean that you knew your money was at risk by putting it in the bank.
NO!
I did not know that, nor should that be the case.
I put it there, for somewhere to keep it BECAUSE I don't want it at risk of being stolen.
It is NEVER made clear that your money is used by the banks to speculate.
Well at least 90% of it is, they have to retain 10% by law.
BIG DEAL!
I still can't get my head around this.
This is utter BS, and if people don't wake up to the fact that these bastards are a bad disease, and MUST be killed off, not jailed, killed.
Their actions and mindset is to kill us, so if we just ignore them as they know most of the people will, they will be given a free hand to enslave and control us.
With interest rates going negative, we'll be paying them thinking that our money is safe with them.
You may as well withdraw it all and hide it somewhere yourself, at least that way, THEY can't steal it, or paying them AND having them steal it.

ttbn, people ARE and WILL try to keep on doing cash transactions.
The problem is that the bastards who are behind this push, also control the banks and have a long term vision of controlling humankind.
So the first of the line of scumbags put it, whoever controls a countries money, controls the country.
That's not the very words he used, but the sentiment behind it.
So all this is hedging towards their big plan.
What the problem is, is that once it's law, you will be charged as a criminal if you are found to be carrying $10,000 or more on you.
It will be reduced to #3,000, and then later to $1,000.
The point of all this is so the bank controls your money and where you spend it.
So the idea of withdrawing small amounts till you reach the amount you need, won't work, it's when you have that amount that you are vulnerable to being charged.
And don't forget, they will be monitoring transactions, especially those with a pattern.
Just wait till it's $1,000.
Of course most people won't care, they don't have six figures in the bank, and most lefties feel entitled so they bludge off the system, so they would be more than happy to see us lose our cash and join them in the dole queue.
I did warn people ages ago, and the usual mockers and knockers made their usual ignorant, arrogant, petulant responses.
Obviously these people have no money or savings, so not only have they exposed themselves as miserable, ignorant losers, but the fact that they have no money, so their comments are moot, as are they.

Well it looks like it's too late, so unless people get off their collective arses, we are done for, as it looks like the banks cash grab legislation is doomed to go through.
Their pushing it hard so as to negate the amount of push back by the community.
We thought we had a chance with labor promising/committed to voting against it, and it would have failed because they had the numbers, but no, the rotten two faced creeps backed down changed their minds and have now said they are going to vote with the govt on this, even though the filthy pigs keep trying to distance themselves from it by saying it's Morrison's bill.
And yet their going to back him, what scum, the lot of em'.
Honestly this is the stuff of assassinations, and we're quickly heading that way.
And the idiots wonder why good decent people lose it and go nuts with a gun.
They can't get to these pricks because of the body guards, and now you wonder why, so they resort to shooting/killing innocent people, frustrated in the hope that their plight will be heard.
But so as to not get a wave of people suddenly attacking pollies, they keep the truth about the gunman's plight out of the media so the public won't get angry and retaliate.
Have you never wondered why we don't ever get a plausible or even a reasonable explanation about the shooter and why they did it, EVER?
We are fed the usual BS, which the sheep lap up, every time.
Wake up you morons, conspiracy theories exist because we can't get the truth, so people speculate and theorise with what little info they can find or dig up.
If more people would concern themselves with things that affect them and their families health and finances, instead of bloody fu$(ing sports, we would be so far ahead and so much better off.
Right now with everyone walking around with their heads up their arses, they have NO idea, NOT A CLUE, what's going on around them or to them.

ttbn, too right, and yet we have to put up with their loser left thinking, and wonder why they don't get it or see it.
I don't care what the morons think about the FACT that the elite Jews namely the Illuminati, the Bilderberg group are to blame for ALL the worlds ailments and man made disasters.
The ones controlling or directing the group, do not show their faces and keep well out of the public arena.
You will find no real substance on them, and if you did, it would be removed before long.
I had bookmarked a very good site/report describing and explaining how the Rothschilds owned and or controlled 97% of world banks and financial institutions such the federal reserves and so many others.
Whenever I went to download it for a topic I was writing, it was not there.'
This occurred several times, till lately I can't find it any more.
Fortunately I have linked it onto a few responses to OLO topics, I hope if I have to use it I can find it again, in OLO.
This has happened to me before, every time it involved the Rothschilds.
Coincidence?
I know it's not, so if you want to keep a low profile so badly, what have you done that requires such concerted and focused efforts to keep out of the public eye.
I wish a few more people would start digging into this evil, sick, bastard of a family, they won't believe some of the things they have done, and still doing.

Yes, drug-smuggling has always been with us. Before Federation, each colony had border controls and customs duties on goods being transferred between colonies. Drug smuggling was a real problem on the Murray River, because the paddleboats were transporting cargo between South Australia, NSW and Victoria, and there was plenty of isolated riverbank to offload illicit cargo. There were customs houses and bond stores at most river towns (some buildings still stand) and the police were active. No need to blame it on foreigners, unless of course you regard as foreigners all those English, Irish and Scottish foreigners who came to Australia before Federation. Here's one retrospective account (Murray Pioneer and Australian River Record 11.10. 1934).

Opium, Liquor, Tobacco and General Merchandice
Customs Officials Foiled

There is living near Renmark an old woman whose husband, dead these five years, was a River Murray smuggler. In the old woman's home is evidence of this in the form of letters and papers dating back to the seventy flood (1870) and before. Mr. Fred Stockel now owns the Border Cliff farm up river from Renmark. This farm house was for years the customs station between South Australia and New South Wales, and in the late eighties all manner of goods were discovered within a few miles of the customs house.

The following is a rough list of what was unearthed near the farm house in the eighties; twenty-five cases of black stick tobacco, 25 cases of whiskey, and 10 of gin, sundries including some opium, and general merchandise. With the arrival of customs officials every steamer plying along the Murray had perforce to stop at the customs house. They were searched for dutiable goods and then let proceed.

ALTRAV, I am a bit confused by your posts.

On the one hand you don't like the lefties, a bunch of losers bludging off the system, who would be more than happy to see you lose your cash and join them in the dole queue.

On the other hand, you don't like the rich, especially the elite Jews, who control the global financial system and own all the banks.

Which group are you planning to join? The lazy bludging lefties or the financially astute bank owners? My advice: Buy some bank shares while they're going cheap!! Then you can have a conspiracy theory about yourself!

Cossomby, glad you ask.
I favour neither camp, but despise the Bilderberg Group beyond any imagination.
You see, the left have a belief that they are owed a living, and should be overpaid for under-performing or even not work at all.
I was once abused by such a cretin, in saying that if I did not want the thing he was doing, he didn't have to work, and basically berated me for forcing him to work.
Now on the other end of the spectrum, we have a much more evil kind of people with a very selfish and greedy over the top agenda.
They want to rule the world!
I have followed these mongrels for some years and have gathered the odd bit of info or video outlining and confirming they are dangerous.
They have been responsible for the loss of millions of lives, all for their personal and financial gain.
I do not lean one way or another but when someone is bad or who's actions hurt or compromise people financially or emotionally, then I cannot simply stand by and do or say nothing.
We are being slowly taken over by these mongrels, and one the early signs is the Bail-In Bill, the other is the Cash Ban Bill.
All of these measures and laws are designed to force us to become submissive to this mongrel group and in doing so remove our freedoms and our ability to self rule.
So I hate them both, but for different reasons.
One thing is certain, they are both a threat to us, but at least one should be exterminated.
