There is no doubt Trump the warmonger is out to create a situation that justifies an American/Iran war. The forums jolly band of 'Usual Suspects' will applaud Trumps belligerency, as they always do in these situations.

I hold no brief for the Iranian religious fundo style of government , but I do not support violent regime change based on the fact "I don't like the regime". Such a notion is extremely dangerous.

I think I have said here before, Iran, the US, Saudi Arabia & Iraq
do not control the Hormuz straits.
Iran will beg for it to be open as it is the only way they can get
oil out to India and China their only customers.
Their exports are around 500,000 barrels a day at present and their
currency is falling.
Any further reduction will collapse their economy.
They probably think that any real attack on the US might cause Trump
to order the destruction of their oil terminal.
That would close Iran down for months or even a couple of years.
Trump doesn't want the Strait closed either, as the world wide fuel
shortage would bring everybody down on his head, he knows it.
You cannot remove 10M+ barrells a day off the market without a
world wide financial crash within a week.
So you see everyone has an interest in keeping it flowing.
