No, you had it right the first time. At least, 'aluminium' is the spelling given in my S.I. Data Book, and if you can't trust that what on Earth can you trust?

'Aluminum' is a Seppo bastardisation of the correct spelling. And like their insistence on clinging to their ridiculous system of measurements instead of going metric, I'm quite sure they only do it to be contrary. Normally I wouldn't mind - I don't care about most of their alternative spellings like colour/color, but science is a global endeavour and it's the same element anywhere you go so the spelling should be standardised, with no pandering to certain people's quaint regional dialects.

The only thing you misspelt was your second attempt at aluminium. Whoever wrote that URL made the misspelling; obviously the link won't work if it's not copied exactly, but you didn't misspell aluminium. You just didn't copy the link correctly.

I am curious as to why you don't just copy and paste, which would save a great deal of bother.

I'm not convinced you actually know what an extreme lefty is, Hasbeen. It's not 'anybody to the left of Benito Mussolini', it's the loonies, ferals, hippies, vegans and commies make up the outliers on the left side of the Gaussian distribution.

Thankfully due to the nature of the Gaussian distribution, there aren't many of either sort of outlier - neither the loony left nor the rabid right - so whilst they do make hell of a racket, they don't have the numbers to do any real harm in democratic countries.
