It's alleged that they were being bribed to give Nigerian citizens student visas
The probe found that at least 21 students had been given the shonky visas

Two officials at an Australia embassy in South Africa have reportedly been sacked amid a probe into allegations Nigerian nationals paid bribes for visas.

At least 21 Nigerians received Australian student visas, which a high-level investigation said were 'tainted by the corrupt conduct of the department officers', according to The Herald Sun.

ttbn,

“I can't do nothing”

Makes sense in the right context.

Aidan,

"But I suspect those who think Centrelink would rank in anyone's top ten reasons for wanting to be here are those who have never dealt with Centrelink!"

Ne'er were truer words spake.

Dear Phillip S,

Of course the woman should be entitled to a maternity payment. She has worked in Australia for a period of time and presumably paid her taxes. Australia did not have to educate her nor provide medical care while she grew up. In order to keep the economy growing this country has decided to use labour from other countries, often at the expense of providing adequate training for our own citizens, all because companies don't like the taxes required to pay for it.

The second point is that by not paying 457 visa holders maternity leave there would be an obvious advantage for employing them over Australian workers. Do you really want that? Do you care so little for hard working Aussie families that you would be prepared to sacrifice them because of a miserly attitude? Perhaps you do. Well while you are supporting stitching up the futures of Aussie battlers there are others of us who do care, who do think they deserve a break, who don't think they should get shafted because of ideologues like yourself.

Oh the horror!

Is Mise,

It doesn't make sense, and there is no 'right context'. It is a double negative, which is a basic grammatical error. It is a crime against the English language. She should have said, “I can't do anything”.

Did you know that the CEO of AGL is here on a 457 visa. There were no Australians who could gouge us on electricity prices? Can't believe that!

ttbn.

She said "I can't do nothing", as in I can't do nothing if I have nothing to do.
