487 Visa = Skilled Regional Sponsored visa.

Apparently people come on this visa and if they get pregnant guess who pays the maternity leave, the employer, wrong answer right answer the taxpayer.

http://www.news.com.au/finance/work/at-work/service-station-owner-pocketed-employees-12000-centrelink-parental-leave-payment/news-story/03f61cb7c2442fdb43573db2500d7960

A NSW service station owner who pocketed his employee’s $12,000 parental leave payment from Centrelink and then created fake records to “deceive” investigators has been slapped with a whopping fine.

Kulpreet Singh, the former manager and part-owner of the United Petroleum roadhouse and restaurant at Marrangaroo, near Lithgow in NSW’s central west, has been fined $19,720 and his company Noorpreet Pty Ltd a further $98,700 by the Federal Circuit Court in a case brought by the Fair Work Ombudsman.

It’s the first legal action brought by the workplace cop over failure to transfer Paid Parental Leave funds to an employee.

“Mr Singh was, to be blunt, well and truly caught out by the FWO, perpetrating a deliberate falsehood in relation to the false payment record,” Judge Nick Nicholls said.

The Indian woman, who was 29 at the time, worked as a chef at the roadhouse on a 487 skilled regional employer nomination visa. After she had a child in 2015, the Department of Human Services transferred $11,538 to Noorpreet for the company to transfer to her.

1st question is why are taxpayers paying this $11,538 not the employer.

2nd that amount seems high when someone on newstart only get approx $14,000 per year.

A quick check on this link http://www.humanservices.gov.au/individuals/services/centrelink

Will give a insight into why so many people want to be here, the number of reasons people can get taxpayer money defies logic.

From Bereavement Allowance, Newborn Upfront Payment, One-off Energy Assistance Payment, Stillborn Baby Payment just to mention a few.

When will the rorts end? How long is a piece of string?

They will continue until our slack political class calls halt. But while they are relying on mass immigration to cook the books, they aren't going to stop it. The people benefiting from mass immigration are big government, big business and the immigrants themselves. The rest of us miss out. We are worse off in fact.

Skilled immigrants. They are the ones driving taxis because their English is not good enough to get what ever job they conned immigration into believing they could do. Their navigation skills are not much good either.

The only solution is to stop all immigration.

Another thing to remember is that most of the immigrants coming here now, courtesy of our stupid government, are from dysfunctional countries where rorts, corruption and bribery are a way of life. They don't suddenly get honest when they arrive in Australia.

Just seen: solicitor sister of Salim Mehajer has been struck off the roll of lawyers for trying to mislead the Federal Court to help the shonky family. How can a person, whose English is so bad that she said, “I can't do nothing” have passed law exams in the fist place?

ttbn - correct it was only recently loads of immigrants were supposedly minding the children of others who in turn were minding the children of the other person and claiming child care payments.

"More than 165 family daycare providers have been forced to shut their doors across Australia after the operators were allegedly found to have been falsely claiming subsidies.

The joint state-federal government crackdown has seen 117 providers lose their accreditation and 49 providers have their accreditation suspended.

In NSW alone, 124 family daycare providers were shuttered between June 2016 and June 2017, representing about one-third of the sector."

Also the incompetent public servants who don't do there job properly.
Quote "$5.4 million in taxpayer funds claimed in alleged childcare fraud"

March 13 looked like a red letter day for iGrow Family Day Care as it signed 1775 children onto its books.

Listing its head office as a small white weatherboard home in Sydney’s west, iGrow recorded the supposed torrent of new bookings in July - and then backdated each entry for the previous four months.

Despite this breach of the rules - and missing paperwork from 143,000 logged child care sessions - the government paid out $5.4 million in rebates and benefits over 14 days.

Millions of that was then siphoned into another company’s accounts, as part of an alleged childcare fraud that would count as the largest in Australian history.

The case draws attention to government oversight of taxpayer funds, after a series of high-profile rorts and federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham’s promise of a “laser-like focus” on illegal operators.

Anyone with half a brain should have realized an increase of 1,775 in one day was a monstrous red flag something was wrong.

Your 2nd post
What about the slimy Ex Politicians you could not fill out the forms and keep the money.

Philip S,
>1st question is why are taxpayers paying this $11,538 not the employer.

Because putting the burden of paid maternity leave onto employers would be terribly unfair to small businesses, and could discourage them from employing women.

>2nd that amount seems high when someone on newstart only get approx $14,000 per year.

That's because it's based on the national minimum wage. Newstart payments aren't linked to the minimum wage and haven't risen so fast. Governments like to be seen to be effective in keeping spending down, and the unemployed are easy targets due to the widespread perception that they're just bludgers.

We are a rich country, and it's only right that we look after the people who are in terrible situations. But I suspect those who think Centrelink would rank in anyone's top ten reasons for wanting to be here are those who have never dealt with Centrelink!

Dear Philip S.,

This is a storm in a teacup.

The lady in question is an Australian citizen.

She was entitled to her benefits.

Her employer stole her money and has now been punished.

End of story.

Foxy - Quote "The lady in question is an Australian citizen.

Good try but Epic fail to shut this down, you fail to mention something.

At the time she was not an Australian citizen, so she came here on a 487 visa got pregnant and we the taxpayer had to support her to the tune of $11,538, to me that was wrong and is a failure with 487 and other like visas.

So with that in mind are you still happy with this situation?

Aidan Quote "We are a rich country, and it's only right that we look after the people who are in terrible situations."

1st we are not a rich country approx $500 billion in debt does not make a country rich, so like Foxy you are okay with people coming here on work visas getting pregnant and taxpayers having to support them?

Also it is a reason for coming you fail to grasp the fact the people that are coming are from countries with NO social security system.
Foxy Not end of story.

It's been known to police that corruption with Visa's has reigned unabated in several of our Embassies on the African Continent. Technically it's necessary for DEFAT to lodge a complaint with the AFP, before action is initiated. But for some reason DEFAT like to remain very quiet about such matters preferring instead to clean up their own mess.

Unfortunately they simply don't. DEFAT are a very powerful and influential Department with an almost pathological fear of police digging through their affairs, especially those abroad. You have no idea how 'mischievous' many of these embassy Officers are, particularly in matters of sexual 'proceedings'. If ever a full & widely encompassing investigation, on a government department needs to be undertaken, it's DEFAT and their many legions of staff - whether they're permanent, temporary, or part-time. Both in Australia and abroad. A very large and substantial catchment net is what's required?

o sung wu - There was an article today that had references to corrupt officials in an Australia consulate or embassy in Africa and visas, still looking to re-find where it was.

Foxy, please answer the question are you okay with people on 487 and like visas coming here then ending up having the taxpayers support them to the tune on thousands of dollars? A simple yes or no will suffice.

individual - Regrettably that amount would be the tip of the iceberg in the context of rorts of our social security system.

Two officials at an Australia embassy in South Africa have reportedly been sacked amid a probe into allegations Nigerian nationals paid bribes for visas.

At least 21 Nigerians received Australian student visas, which a high-level investigation said were 'tainted by the corrupt conduct of the department officers', according to The Herald Sun.

“I can't do nothing”

Makes sense in the right context.

Aidan,

"But I suspect those who think Centrelink would rank in anyone's top ten reasons for wanting to be here are those who have never dealt with Centrelink!"

Ne'er were truer words spake.

Dear Phillip S,

Of course the woman should be entitled to a maternity payment. She has worked in Australia for a period of time and presumably paid her taxes. Australia did not have to educate her nor provide medical care while she grew up. In order to keep the economy growing this country has decided to use labour from other countries, often at the expense of providing adequate training for our own citizens, all because companies don't like the taxes required to pay for it.

The second point is that by not paying 457 visa holders maternity leave there would be an obvious advantage for employing them over Australian workers. Do you really want that? Do you care so little for hard working Aussie families that you would be prepared to sacrifice them because of a miserly attitude? Perhaps you do. Well while you are supporting stitching up the futures of Aussie battlers there are others of us who do care, who do think they deserve a break, who don't think they should get shafted because of ideologues like yourself.

Oh the horror!

Is Mise,

It doesn't make sense, and there is no 'right context'. It is a double negative, which is a basic grammatical error. It is a crime against the English language. She should have said, “I can't do anything”.

Philip S,
"1st we are not a rich country approx $500 billion in debt does not make a country rich,"
We are a rich country because our GDP per capita is in the top ten in the world. Our national debt is literally 0% of our credit limit, so it doesn't disqualify us from being rich.

"so like Foxy you are okay with people coming here on work visas getting pregnant and taxpayers having to support them?"
Yes. They pay the taxes, so should not be excluded from the benefits.

Hi there PHILIP S...

No I didn't see the newspaper article concerning Visa fraud. It certainly go's on, and with impunity from heads of Mission apparently, as there's a very strict pecking order among DFAT staff at foreign missions, all depending on what type of Passport you're issued. There are quite a number of very good diplomatic officers who adroitly look after Australia's interests, with a few of them not so good. And given the enormous power they have, it's little wonder corrupt behaviour takes place.

Thought I had best help you channel Kurtz. Bit of fun.

You wrote;

"you are okay with people coming here on work visas getting pregnant and taxpayers having to support them"

The thing is mate she was a bloody tax payer. Or do you want her taxes just to go to looking after you? We all pay taxes to fund services, she's paid and she is entitled full stop. Anything less is exploitation and greed from you and your ilk.
