I don't think Paul or any other regressive has ever got over the fact that Tony stopped the boats. From every abc reporter to every regressive they pompously sprouted that because of the 'push' factors the boats could not be stopped. Their predictions were as credible as the gw alarmist.

btw how are the dams in Brisbane and Sydney. Empty yet?

What mealy mouthed garbage Paul.

What we would do in the same situation has nothing to do with the boat people problem.
Firstly they are no more refugees than you are, they are simply economic migrants.
Secondly they are migrating because they & their fellow citizens have destroyed their countries, both economically & culturally. This is basically because they have 2 or more warring tribes in those countries

What we must do is protect our own from getting into that same situation, & destroying what we have built.

Apart from ratbag greens being a divisive influence, it is these boat people, & others from the areas they come from who will turn Australia into the same disaster area they have left. We are one of the most attractive countries to gate crash, due to our politically correct softly softly approach, & our over generous welfare & welcome policies & spend. Those now going to the US must be spitting chips, they won't get it so easy there, as they would have here.

It will be people like you, & your attitudes, that our great grand kids will curse in the future.

Joe, one of the myths is the notion that an orderly queue of refugees exists, nothing of the sort actually exists. Can you direct me to this queue. The redneck rhetoric of queue jumpers, illegals, crimnals etc does nothing for what is a serious world problem, that of the plight of the millions of refugees across the planet.
Given sudden developments in our region, such as a natural disaster, war etc, the annual quota of immigrants can be rather flexible, governments make exceptions when the need arises. With the uncertainty that exists over those detained on Manus Island and in other parts of PNG, if the government cannot find a willing party, like the US, to take these people, what do you think the Australian Government should do?

Hassy, I have read your solution to the refugee problem before and like the true redneck you are, it sickens me.

BTW Joe, I did not start any discussion on refugees.

runner, if you were a true Christian as you claim to be, you should be down at the shoreline welcoming the boats with open arms. What happen with you, between the time they nailed Christ on the cross and today, something that has put you off Christianity altogether. Did you attend a Catholic school, and spend too much time in the broom cupboard with Father You-know-who?

You may not have to worry about the Nauru refugees much longer. The dangerous mould contamination will probably kill them off for us soon enough.
Unfortunately that means there will be none left to serve as warnings to other potential refugees (who want to come by boat).
Maybe we could mount their heads on stakes along our coastline?
It will deliver exactly the same message but by a slightly different method only. The sentiment is identical.

As for Joyce, what did that drunken bozo actually achieve as a Minister - besides handing out some goodies for his mates and setting himself up financially with insider CSG trading information?
He said he was going to dispose of that landholding to avoid a "potential conflict of interest" but 5 years later, he still hasn't budged. Now the proposed inland rail runs right past it. Wow, what a lucky break!

He talked the talk but never managed to walk the walk.

I'm still waiting for the rest of his (many) indiscretions to come out, but that's probably why he left so quietly and easily.

Paul,

If there are more applicants fo refugee status than the annual intake, then there is a queue. Do you really think that barely fourteen or fifteen thousand refugees around the world - out of 67 million - apply to come to Australia, which is about as far from danger as possible, except perhaps New Zealand ? And good luck being one of the six hundred that New Zealand generously takes in each year. i wonder how long the NZ queue is.

So please don't write rubbish, Paul. We're not all mugs even if your habitual acquaintances are.

IF there are more applicants annually than the annual quota, then there is queue: there is nothing redneck about recognising one. As it happens, I think the government should kick up the annual quota of refugee or humanitarian intake to 25,000. Paradoxically, I suspect that if they did, the queue would get longer.

And of course, we come back to the question some fool asked (ah yes, that was me): if we were to take the illegal immigrants from Nauru and Manus as part of the annual refugee intake, would they take up part of it, so that an equivalent number of genuine refugees, who have done all the right things and waited for years in their desert camps, get pushed back down the queue ?

Joe

Well that certainly tells me I am on the right track.

What a pity it hasn't made you sick enough!
