Recent news articles have given the African Gang problem in Melbourne national attention.
http://www.sbs.com.au/news/stop-political-correctness-african-community-leader-urges-action-on-youth-crime

Mr Turnbull said he was "very concerned at the growing gang violence and lawlessness in Victoria, in particular in Melbourne".
"This is a failure of the Andrews Labor government," he told reporters in Sydney on Monday.

Victoria's acting Roads and Road Safety Minister Philip Dalidakis hit back at the prime minister and said the state government would not be taking advice "from a bloke who can't even put on a life vest when he's on a boat in Sydney Harbour".

Who gets the blame for this mess?
Is it the Victorian Labor Government?
Or the people responsible for letting them come here?

And how should this issue be dealt with?

Dear AC,

This is a bit of a tricky one.

It depends on who you believe.

One side claims that the State Government has watched
this unfold over the past two years. That more must be
done to address violence in African communities. That
action must be taken instead of just talking about it.

Then on the other hand the Victorian Police Deputy
Commissioner Andrew Crisp tells us that Melbourne did not
have a gang problem and urged the media not to label
groups of young thugs as "gangs". He re-assured that the
police are well and truly on top of youth crime.

The Victorian Crime Statistics Agency's data for the year
to June 2017 shows Sudanese born offenders were allegedly
involved in 98 aggravated burglaries in the state compared
to 540 Australian-born offenders. For the same period,
45 serious assaults were allegedly committed by Sudanese
born offenders compared to 1,462 Australian-born offenders.

We're told that people born in Sudan make up about 0.1 per
cent of Victoria's population. Census data shows.

Personally, I would recommend that more be done to
address the violence - stronger laws must be implemented,
no matter who the perpetrators are. The safety of our
communities must be maintained. The Premier can no longer
let this situation slide.

Foxy,
Both state and federal governments are to blame.

The states firstly for not having tough enough laws to discourage this type of crime. Victoria is not the only state as there was an article that Brisbane was going the same way recently.

Secondly the feds must share the blame as they let them or their parents in without considering the cultural differences. The same is also happening with allowing muslims to become residents. The offending parties may be either muslim or christen but the cultural differences are vast and there is little hope of integration. It shows a complete lack of thought for the well being of our communities by politicians.

The first thing to do is to stop further immigration of those groups of people that show they have contempt for our laws and social standards. Next is to strengthen the laws and to instruct the judiciary to enforce the laws. Not just issue pathetically weak sentences

The PM has a cheek blaming a state government when it has been his and other federal governments who have been stupidly bringing these people into our country. Deportation is the only answer, along with a total ban on these savage people in future.

The African gangs are an almost daily reminder of the failure of multiculturalism, and the fact that all cultures are certainly not equal.

Really the tax funded abc is probably as guilty as anyone. Their silence on facts and willingness to embrace fake news is sickening. While people are being chopped up with machetes they bang on about racism ignoring the real racist and bigots.
