It is their deliberate misuse of stats, such as where 'n' is a small number, inferring that any small change is very large, when it isn't at all. Of course there are the outright 'wobblies' as well to contend with. -When a Greens lips are moving it is only to be expected..
While the incidence of crimes using firearms was low and trending further downwards before and after the Soros-inspired 'gun control' regulations of wedge-politician John Howard, it is also a fact that concealable weapons, pistols, have become the weapon of choice of the criminal, drug-dealing gangs who are very largely responsible for firearms crime. That applies in the UK too, to take another example and is despite the more restrictive UK regulations where pistols are concerned.
That, succinctly put by independent analysts, is the real problem that Greens and other 'Progressives' (regressives) are embarrassed by and refuse to admit or apologise for of course, that, the growth in crime involving violence and concealable weapons is attributable to criminal gangs dealing in drugs.
Now it also happens that western governments has been stupid and uncaring enough to import migrants with cultures of violence, where violence is the first resort and life is cheap. That has been remarked upon by departing Commissioners of Police, in NSW for example.
The knee-jerk reaction of the international socialist 'Progressives' has been denial and efforts to ensure that the facts and their truths are buried. For instance, by banning collection of statistics relating to the ethnicity of offenders, which has even extended to censorship of essential identifying details of sought offenders in serious crimes such as rape.
