ttbn,

Could you give me an example of a change that has been made or proposed purely for the sake of it? I can’t think of any.

<<We live in sorry times, when everything 'needs' to be changed for the sake of change.>>

If you can’t, then don’t waste a post telling me that. Just don’t respond and I will take that as your humble retraction.

<<Even our native language is shockingly abused through ignorance or carelessness.>>

“SHOCKINGLY abused”?! [Emphasis added] Sounds serious. Please, tell us more.

<<SR, … advised that he was "loathed" to do something, when he should have said he was 'loath' (pronounced loth).>>

*Gasp!*

Scandalous!

And the pronunciation to boot. I like it. Those lucky enough to be here watching your linguistic skills in action must be awestruck by your obvious talent.

This reminds me of the time you insisted that I should have said, “I and others”, instead of, “myself and others”, to distract from the fact that you had no rational argument to back your assertion.

It seems that when you have nothing intelligent or relevant to say in response to those with whom you disagree, you try to find a typo to use as a distraction. And if you can’t find one, you make one up.

If you’re going to be a grammar Nazi, you could at least get your grammar right.

<<People used to know how not to make themselves look ignorant twits; now they go out of their way to demonstrate that the ARE ignorant twits.>>

You’re telling ME?! You even inserted your own typo there in that last sentence of yours just in case it was unclear to any of us who the twit was.

Dear Is Mise,

Lets take a look at the situation here.

Any attempt to represent the difficult and complex
issues we face as a nation in a more considered
way is too often threatened by the desire of some
here for short, simple, uncomplicated bite-sized and
easily assimilable messages that require little
thought, little reflection, little discomfort.

The net result ends up being a discussion where many
are not attuned to complex issues, and are not just
disinterested but hostile to having to consider them.
They want issues to be simple, or at least simplified
and the solutions straight forward and uncomplicated.

It is far easier to think in terms of general categories
if only to enable them to make sense of the world by
simplifying its complexity.

I'm leaving not because I'm "running away" - or the
questions are too "hard." Nah. I'm leaving because the
issues are too complicated for some to comprehend and
I can see that I'm wasting my time. I've got better
things to do.

Cheers.

Foxy,

If you've got better things to do why did you come back?

Dear Is Mise,

To explain the false remark you made about me.

Dear Armchair Critic,

You wrote;

“I remember being a kid.
We had 5 channels 7,9,10 ABC and SBS.
We were more united, somehow.
And we had our own identity, different to everyone else.
When Australia won the America's cup, I'm sure the whole country was watching...
And I'm sure at least half the country was tuned in every week watching Comedy Company, or Hey Hey it's Saturday.
Was it just the TV, or was it was more than that?
Whats different now?”

I will tell you what is different now, some bloke can write a post reminiscing about Australian identity and then trot out this very American dribble straight afterward.

“Globalist billionaires are deliberately funding leftist groups to push their global agenda.
In America, Obama even made Taxpayers fund Soros's operations of civil unrest.
It's a well organised and highly funded operation to destroy nations national identities.”

If you deliberately did this to make your point then well done, if not then oops.

Goddamit, Armchair Critic! Why couldn’t you have just kept your big mouth shut, eh?

Yeah, that’s right. They know who you are now. What? Did you think you could hide behind that pseudonym of yours forever?!

They know ‘Critic’ isn’t your real surname, Armchair. They know that now. They were always going to figure that much out. You don’t actually think the Left are stupid enough to think that ‘Critic’ is a real surname, do you?

But look, I’m here to help. The Left don’t know I’m doing this. Not Foxy, not SteeleRedux, not Toni Lavis. Nobody. They’d have me killed if they ever found out.

So, print this post out of mine and then destroy your computer. That’s right. Smash it into tiny little pieces, and then catch the 4:45 to Mumbai (Flight two-zero-niner). When you arrive, there’ll be a stick-thin Indian man standing there with flies buzzing around his head holding a cardboard sign that reads, “Armchair Smith”.

He’s your guy.

*Sigh!*

Why’d ya have to do it, Armchair? Why? Us Lefties had such a good thing going there for decades under our leader, George Soros. But then Brexit happened, then Hanson, then Trump. All these dummies. Heck, it’s looking like we’ll only JUST manage to stop Wilders.

The New World Order… all coming apart at the seams, and it all just happened to start after you appeared on OLO. Co-incidence? I think not.

You couldn’t help yourself, could you? You just had to expose our impossibly-well-coordinated and improbably-evil attempt to inflict tolerance, peace, a clean environment, and at least one meal per day onto every person on the planet. We set up the UN; we even had the universities - literally millions of man-hours poured into fudging figures in those ivory towers to make it look like CO2 trapped heat and that tolerance was beneficial to a society; and all for nothing now.

Obviously our chemtrails and vaccines never worked on you.

Shi-! They’re coming.

Remember - destroy your computer and don’t ever buy another one again.

I’ll see you in Mumbai...
