Could you give me an example of a change that has been made or proposed purely for the sake of it? I can’t think of any.
<<We live in sorry times, when everything 'needs' to be changed for the sake of change.>>
If you can’t, then don’t waste a post telling me that. Just don’t respond and I will take that as your humble retraction.
<<Even our native language is shockingly abused through ignorance or carelessness.>>
“SHOCKINGLY abused”?! [Emphasis added] Sounds serious. Please, tell us more.
<<SR, … advised that he was "loathed" to do something, when he should have said he was 'loath' (pronounced loth).>>
*Gasp!*
Scandalous!
And the pronunciation to boot. I like it. Those lucky enough to be here watching your linguistic skills in action must be awestruck by your obvious talent.
This reminds me of the time you insisted that I should have said, “I and others”, instead of, “myself and others”, to distract from the fact that you had no rational argument to back your assertion.

It seems that when you have nothing intelligent or relevant to say in response to those with whom you disagree, you try to find a typo to use as a distraction. And if you can’t find one, you make one up.
If you’re going to be a grammar Nazi, you could at least get your grammar right.
<<People used to know how not to make themselves look ignorant twits; now they go out of their way to demonstrate that the ARE ignorant twits.>>
You’re telling ME?! You even inserted your own typo there in that last sentence of yours just in case it was unclear to any of us who the twit was.
