Whitehead flew in 1901 in US. He had been a German named Weiskopf so maybe it was pc to boost the Yank effort by Wright brothers .
But evidence shows the 1903 flight was false and it was 1908 before they succeeded. The Wright family had a contract with Smithsonian institute to say Wrights were first against 17 legal papers for Whitehead.

To me one of the biggest peddlers of false and misleading history etc is Hollywood too many people actually believe the propaganda they put out as films being fact.

Hollywood has a big follow on factor for a lot of people they see it on the big screen so must be normal, from gay and lesbians for years being more predominant.

Hollywood also includes the soap operas makers.

In Qld , a coin , lead weight, cannon and so on have been found on beaches and dated to 15-16th century . The lead was analysed as Portuguese ore. A wooden hull is possibly from that time and a uni team went with a magnetometer to investigate. On arrival they were refused permission to investigate by Qld govt. An offer to provide a free survey to the govt of all Qld beach antiques was refused.
This is like Brazil which dumped dredged-mud on a wreck claimed to be Roman. ( Of course , Portuguese items in Brazil would be displayed as national heritage..)

There's a photo of it afterwards and they dragged it away. Others have made copies and they crashed. Columbus went in 1492 , OK. Orville didn't.
