Airdate: Who Flew First? – TV Tonight
www.tvtonight.com.au/2016/11/airdate-who-flew-first.html
Whitehead flew in 1901 in US. He had been a German named Weiskopf so maybe it was pc to boost the Yank effort by Wright brothers .
But evidence shows the 1903 flight was false and it was 1908 before they succeeded. The Wright family had a contract with Smithsonian institute to say Wrights were first against 17 legal papers for Whitehead.

- Richard Pearse, Waitohi, New Zealand, March 31, 1902 ..He flew 8 months or perhaps 1 1/2 years before Wrights alleged first flight. So Wrights came in third place. And gave no credit to Hargraves from Oz whom supplied wing flight data from his box-kites.
