"Awareness of Peace Day creates action, and that action saves lives."

Jude Law - Peace One Day Ambassador

This magnificent day held on the 21st of September each year and recognised by the United Nations, is something we as humans should all be proud of and take action upon.

What will you be doing? Lazily sitting on the lounge, watching more terrorism and targeted killings and violence on your TV set, or doing something positive to create peace on the planet?

Going Home

"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war."
Douglas MacArthur

"It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance." Robert F. Kennedy

"We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us"
Winston Churchill

Peace is the absence of war, to which end I will play my part.

The focus cannot be on peace. That becomes mealy-mouthed and peace at any cost. Cowardice and concessions that encourage tyrants and forget their victims.

We don't need the UN's self-pampering knobs having their soirees pay for by others and lecturing us on peace. There is always ANZAC Day and other days as sobering reminders that peace has to be fought for by good men and women every day and by the best means they can. While that requires vigilance and action, it does not always mean arms, but it always requires courage.

Anyhow, some music to listen to and remember a time when our family members and community volunteered to take up arms for peace.

He can be peaceful.

Given that the more warlike people around these parts tend to be geriatrics who prefer to sit around getting aroused by the sight of younger men marching off to get shot rather than joining the fray themselves, it's hardly an onerous task.

If everybody did it - and kept doing it - we'd all be much better off. Given that war is more effort, more expense, and more likely to result in death/injury than the alternative, I fail to see why some people prefer it in the first place. Just barking mad, I guess. The cost/benefit analysis certainly doesn't stack up.
