I did my Arts degrees after my engineering degree and I only did them out of interest. And I'm very happy that I did because it looks like they will now get me into a PhD program working on a really fascinating project thus allowing me to conclude my philosophical journey through life on a high note.

The problem with pursuing a career in Arts is that one needs to complete training at PhD level to land a job as an anthropologist, historian, archaeologist or sociologist. Like you indicated, can't do much with just a bachelors except work as a clerk or secondary school teacher.
